I hope not, if this doesn’t warrant a perma-ban then I don’t know what does.
I can see it from a business side, especially if they catch all the duped items. Slap on the wrist and keep a handful of players.
But cheating in New World is a joke these days. We have people admitting it on forums, we have streamers on live streams explaining food exploits to people. AGS needs to make examples.

Perma-ban all the exploiters because in the case of the craft gear noone did that by mistake!
Remove all gear craft by exployt if possible!
And most important, next time something like this happens just turn off the servers or disable things more quickly.
Props to AGS staff members who have to deal with that BS on a Friday, for some probably already saturday…

Or give them the fresh start experience, send them naked on the beach again, on a new server exclusively made of exploiters so they can taste their own medicine, a devalued economy server for a bunch of people with no value
They could still continue their expeditions, nevertheless this would be funny. they should had forced title or instead of armor a sign - SHAME SHAME SHAME (inspired from GOT) for atleast 1 month.
This is bullshit. People been exploiting and duping to get materials and items worth 5x gold cap and they only get a 7 hour ban. That is if they get caught.
People should think twice before comming back, as I see it it is in human nature (not all) to abuse ingame mehanics, but not getting serious repercussions via their behaviour is just silly. Game is in much better state (good) but this negates everything what they have work on (the bad and the ugly).
For the dupes in the past, everyone knew about it and those duped items were all over the trading post by the time AGS did anything. In this instance it caught people off guard which is a good thing.

Kind of late for rollback. If I remember correctly they only once used rollback button and that was like in few hours after it happened. The longer they wait, less likely is it for a rollback.

Great, I heard some talk but unaware what it is, what exploits? I am very curious what it is/was etc. Could any of it be unintentional? Did folks rip other folks off or steal from them?

PLEASE SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT THE AGS IS and what and who are they banning and what is going on generally ! I am new to the game only 40 hours in it !
Rollbacks would be a good way to help assuage fears that there might yet again be trickle-forward consequences. It might also show that they’re willing to directly fix these problems (and would platform a good opportunity to show some espirit d’corps with the playerbase).
On the other hand, the bans are tricky. You yourself point out they’re usually the likeliest users to contribute to RMT, to pay to get an edge or get what they need, and so the natural inclination is to keep them around to drain money from them.
That’s why I think rollbacks would be a solid play, because it’s kind of having their cake and eating it too-- fix the problem, wipe the consequences, keep the benefits (re: people bad enough at life to buy gold online, then buy six server transfer tokens to follow their favourite streamer’s company server-to-server).

Some kind of illegitimate exploit was found-- I remain willfully ignorant of these to maintain a better alibi, so I don’t know what it is-- and players are being banned for openly using that exploit.
The bans are likely temporary. The exploit is likely deeply formulaic to pull off and a random player is unlikely to stumble on it. If I had to guess it has to do with the trading post so if you’re particularly worried, just don’t use the trading post for a day or two (although at 40 hrs in you’re probably not likely to get much use out of it anyway; explore, forage for and find your own materials, it’ll be much more rewarding).
Too bad Amateur Game Studios doesn’t respond to Bots in a timely manner.
I would believe, it’s more serious than your anticipation. The information I’ve found would lead to 8million US bill’s. I’m not smart but that would be INTRESTING. to say the very least
Yeah, because MMO players are known to be very trustworthy and full of integrity with systems like this.
AGS would have much more credibility if they released some stats of how many accounts were banned, or released lists of banned accounts.
We’re sure AGS will try to close the exploit, but based on the ineffectiveness of player reports against cheaters and bots, much more is needed for proof of bans and effective action taken against cheaters.

I really doubt AGS knew about it until someone ratted on the exploiters.
