The thing is EVERY other game that has PvP in it follows the same concept. NW combat just isn’t fun.
And when it comes to balance, that issue will never be resolved and it has never been resolved by any other game either. Would you rather a boring game that’s balanced or a fun game that’s exciting in its moment to moment combat interactions?
If that’s their worry, then simply double the base health for all player characters. Players feel extremely frustrated and blame the game anyway when they die or fail to perform certain actions.
I’m just going by your title. This will not bring players back. People who left will not look back because this game has left a really bad taste in their mouth (myself included - I just came by to see what’s left of the cries and eulogies). It will just cause more cries from the already dwindled population (From Forbes - 3% of the starting population) for TOO OP to I GOT NERFED etc. and the result being the ones that are used to the system that doesn’t like the new system will just leave.
Even if the haters don’t wanna come back, at least new players will have fun and the ones currently playing can keep enjoying the game. Many people will return, the non haters especially.
I don’t want the haters to come back and bring their toxic attitudes with them. These are the childish type, stubborn enough to not wanna do so anyway.
…and the result being the ones that are used to the system that doesn’t like the new system will just leave.
I mean, that really shows you are sunk into what you believe and not looking at it from a bigger picture/bird’s eye view. And the sign of defensiveness from your replies also are starting to confirm what I said originally. My replies are not to make you upset. It was a counter to what can (and most likely) will happen. You took it as an attack and became defensive. So I’ll stop. Enjoy NW Sir/Madam!
Your forbs statistics mean nothing. Valheim stats show the exact same trend. Game started with over half a million concurrent players and it is below NW numbers currently.
That means nothing other than players experienced enough of its current iteration and moved on to check out other games while they wait for major changes to bring them back also temporarily like is the case with all live service games nowadays. You check out the content and move on to something else that’s new and fresh and do so endlessly.
Only true NW and AGS haters use these kinds of arguments to dissuade others from trying the game in an effort to see it fully dead and shutdown. This is what being “free” means in America, land of the free ks.
Who’s being narrowminded when all you’re throwing back is “haters?” I don’t hate the game. I actually hope that it becomes successful in the future. And, if you’re going to quote me on “leaving a bad taste in my mouth,” well, it did. But that doesn’t mean I hate the game or the devs.
Again, goes back to what I stated about your persuasion/suggestion opinion. I think you really need to take a breath and take a step back and look at this post again.
Currently you cannot even land a single fireball anyway. Not like the opponent is gonna stand there and wait for you to hit them. Elden ring allows you to spam a single spell endlessly as long as you have mana. It’s not like NW gives you endless mana so you can spam it endlessly.
It sounds like you don’t want anyone to be brought back anyway. What is it in your opinion that’s needed to bring players back then?
Right, you throw the fireball into a grav, which is now on a 12 second timer per your post.
Either way anything about your suggestion isn’t going to bring people back by the thousands. Long ability cooldowns are NOT the biggest issue with the game right now. It’s not even in the top 20.
Edit: Me saying your opinion is bad doesn’t equate to me not wanting people to come back to the game.
BTW: Going to be a grammar police here, but, it should help you when you are trying to get a point or idea across and look more legitimate or professional. It’s “En Masse.”
Hey I don’t mind others disagreeing, but don’t just stop there, do share your own ideas in what could bring players back instead of just shooting down other people’s feedback in hopes that it doesn’t make it into the game so it dies quickly and your other beloved dying games can outlast it.
To get an idea of what this cooldown change would look like if all 3 abilities were brought down to a 6 sec cooldown, try playing a Paladin in Lost Ark and only use QWE (the first three abilities) in between mouse click attacks repeatedly.
I’m having more fun just repeatedly using 3 out of 9 abilities in the Paladin kit from Lost Ark than I’ve had with the entire NW game and all its weapons.
@Willard@BRGF@Centeotl@Zelme please convey this to the devs and have them try it themselves and compare with NW combat. Thank you.
Lost Ark is currently dominated by PVE fans especially because of its combat and movement/animations fluidity. PVP is also getting nothing but praise since it’s equalized.
How is this different from Elden Ring? In elden ring I have to use a second weapon to get a team blessing because I have a different ability on my main weapon. Same thing here.
I main hatchet. I could use it all day, but there are times I switch to my great axe to charge away or reap someone back to me. then switch back to hatchet. The second weapon is more of a utility. Having your main weapon be able to mass spam attacks would not be fun. There wouldn’t be a flow to the combat, it would be who could spam the fastest.
I extremely dislike this idea. This is how Elden ring plays and I HATE it. I wish I could just hold down the attack button longer like in New World. New World got that right I feel like.
Actually this is really not what the game needs, in fact it will destroy the games over all concept of make good choices.
Gw2 took this approach and it has never had any form of quality. In fact, i have touched on this in the past but likely what should happen is all dodge/ability etc should go on a 0.5 sec gcd. Not only will this massively improve lag related issues and server stability, it will also help make good and bad choices have more value.
