The Blunderbuss is going to make the melee balance even worst

If you thought great axe and hammer was obnoxious before, You haven’t seen anything yet lmao. I’ve been saying in this forum for the past few months now. AGS has screwed Melee so hard, that the only viable weapon that is actually useable IS Great axe. People will cry about how “OP it is, how much damage it can do.” But the harsh truth of the matter is, Great axe has what’s required to fight against the light armor meta. It has a gap closer, a pull, and a root, all in one package. No other melee weapon such as sword and board, hatchet, ect ect, will EVER compete with Great axe. I don’t care how much damage those weapon do. With the utility have have, They will never lock down a player who understands that Mobility is king in this game.

Enter Blunderbuss. A weapon that have a range of 14m. Big enough to take on mages at a safe distance. It has a 50% slow. It has a gap closer. The fact it is a str range weapon alone is going to entice a lot of meleer into giving it up and using blunderbuss in order to stay competitive. It’s already a powerful weapon. Capable of melting a 200 con heavy armor user with the right set up, have the tankiness to back it up, AND is EXTREMELY mobile. You can run and shoot, and reload all at the same time, so if you’re close enough, even people who is running away from you can’t ignore you forever.

So can you imagine how over the top Blunderbuss will be when paired with great axe? Ice gauntlet? Void gauntlet? This is the road we ended up with As AGS is hell bent in making melee as garbage as possible, while Range is AGS’s favorite child. The level of lockdown and one shots combos that is going to happen will be Oppressive.

AGS, Ice gauntlet’s itself is not the problem, or is Greataxe. The problem is the fact that it’s too DAMN EASY to run away in this game. And you have range and magic weapons that Support such cowardly playstyle. This is why Void gauntlet roots is as overpowered as it is. This is why People are running great axe, so they can be locked down those players so they can actually get a light attack in. Now the problem with that is the fact that there is no counter play to such lockdown. So 90% of the time, you’re going to feel helpless when someone targets you, because there is NOTHING you can do about it, when they throw grav well at you, or when you get pulled. You just have to hope you have a weapon that can disable them, and give yourself a chance to escape.

Like, I don’t understand why this needs to be said constantly, or why anyone ignorant to see the bigger problem. And the more AGS add in weapons like blunderbuss or void gauntlet, this endless loop of complaining for the wrong nerfs will keep happening.

I can absolutely see S&S using the blunderbuss as a #2, same for WH. I think some of us 300 STR bruisers are going to have a fine old time with that in our toolkit. Frankly, I think it’s going to be a great ranged counter for melee players using it. I’m looking forward to this one going live.

To be fair after the huge nerfs to GA, WH they were almost not OP, so blunderbuss is required.

Finally GA/WH don’t have to exert themselves too much with grav well and charge and can just get out a ranged option.

I’m assuming the blunderbuss has a 180 degree or AOE hit box.

You have a great time with blunderbuss. But what you said didn’t address the problem I have here. The Blunderbuss is the ONLY weapon beside greataxe that will make sword and board and hammer Somewhat decent. You are still clutching on the blunderbuss to make sword and board, or any other melee weapon work. The same applies with great axe. You need great axe to make other melee weapon useable.

You cannot use the shield to block a blunderbuss combo. You will still die. I don’t know how useful the shield will be besides setting up a combo with a stun.

Blunderbuss is OP af in its PTR state and if it goes live you’ll be picking a secondary to the blunderbuss and not to your primary

It’s actually insane

I don’t think any of use are playing the same game you are.

Read all of my post. It was pretty sarcastic.

Blunderbuss is going to shake the meta up pretty decently.

I love the knockdown ability whatever its called, another actual outplay potential where timing is everything- just like riposte.

I really like the direction they are heading with these weapons.

The only thing thats gonna stop this from becoming an overwhelming trend is the amount it costs to roll and level a new set of gear.

Not everybody is willing, but with the new perks that are coming… time to start saving again lol.

You can use the same strength sets you’re using now, or at least most of them, because only 1-2 BB perks are worth bothering with.

The gear and amulet perks are really nice, especially for light armor, but those are for BiS chasers and companies that are making millions each week.
They should only release one new perk each monthly patch so those companies can burn through that free gold every month until they nerf the taxes and territories are easier to take.

lol.

shoots 6x 23% damg projectiles and its very easy to hit them all, last perk in the ability tree ( shoot 9x projectiles after using an ability stacks up to 2times so thats 2x 207% damg.

they have abilitys that give 40% slow and 50% move speed it will be very hard to catch them as a melee, they also have a root ability the weapon will melt mages thats for sure and will be a pain in the ass for other melee

Where do you have to run after people though?
In World PvP?

Because in OPR, you just have to hold 2 points as much as possible, and you win.
And if you cannot catch enemies who are trying to contest the point, then I think you’re not being honest.

It’s a shit system, and OPR is a joke, generally speaking, but that’s the reality.

I commend you for reading all of that.

If you actually play the game, you’ll see people running all the time, especially when they’re low health. they’re going to roll dodge in light, or medium armor, and they’re going to out run you with absolute ease. Even in the keep, I see people just running constantly until they’re healed. Other people agree with me that melee is just garbage, and range and magic weapon is supierior. A few of these people are still here, but 90% of the people who would agreed with me, is too jaded with the game to care anymore.

The People who are going to contest the point, are the people who will be using hammer and great axe. Those weapos are the only melee in the game to be able to handle contesting the point. No other melee weapon will compare, not because great axe or hammer is overpowered, but because they have the tools they need, where other melee weapon lack it.

No, the reality is, Most people who play for pvp, want to kill other players. That’s just simply fact. Outpost rush is the only game mode that offer any consistent pvp that feels rewarding. If Arena comes out in any capacity, Opr will be collecting dust, and the issue will be even more glaring.
