The changes to effective gearscore only make sense when your game is still in alpha/beta

Not after the official release when players have spent thousands of gold and hundreds of hours on obtaining gear (and the materials) through gathering and crafting because it was presented as an alternative to watermark farming, only for all that work to have been in vain.

Think of the players who have spent countless hours leveling up trade skills, wasting an absurd amount of mats and gold just for a chance to obtain a worthy 600GS item that they can either sell or use, because it was presented as a viable alternative to the watermark grind.

Think of the players who have spent 50k+ gold on a 600GS weapon or trinket, who made a careful decision that they would rather invest all their gold into this, than doing the watermark grind or the crafting grind themselves, also because this was presented as an alternative.

Think of the jewelcrafters, who will no longer be able to make money with their profession, because literally everyone’s trinket watermark is still in the 500-505 range, making the highest level trinket crafts (that costs 5200 gold worth of Asmodeum per craft) on par with Dynasty drops (which isn’t even a level 60 dungeon).

Such a fundamental change in game systems should only be made during alpha or beta, so that when the game launches, everyone knows what to expect and can make an informed decision if the game is worth playing for them. Doing this now will only further alienate the playerbase that choose to stick with this game and as such is detrimental to the future of the game.

While there are definitely a number of good changes in the upcoming patch, reducing everyone’s effective gearscore to their watermark level isn’t the way forward. Most players will take this as a giant leap backwards in their progress, and will be left without a desire to continue playing the game.

If, despite our pleas, you really do feel this change is needed, then please consider having current 600GS items remain their full power as ‘legacy’ items. At least then all the work that was put into making these items wont be rendered useless.

Well, it is.

the worst thing is that they are turning a game which was advertised as sandbox mmorpg into a theme park mmo with all these changes. There’s nothing to choose, no player decisions are involved. U just must grind WM in elite areas, that’s all.

Yeah. The main reason I got New World was because it wasn’t a theme park MMO and had actually progression choices with crafting or grinding for drops and stuff. Now it’s allowing you to grind doing different things but still forcing you to do things you don’t want to and making gathering and crafting items to sell to others mean nothing since they just get scaled down.
