Then don’t be so obsessed with gearscore grind. Do some expeditions, do some professions, a little bit of harvesting, OPRs, arenas (next patch), you will get that Expertise naturally in few weeks. Don’t chase that carrot, its not worth that 15% difference between 625 and 550 player.
And first and foremost, never do chest runs to increase Expertise. Its inefficient relic of the past when it was the only way of how to increase your watermark. I know people do that but jees, its so bad unless you do it in 5-10 group where you actually get drops and Exp bumps from mobs.
I already got arcana to 200 and armoring to 200 i have been farming resources for gold. and doing the terrible chest run every day. Its all just very repetitive and boring.
Im useless in OPR even after buying 80k worth of gear.
Not looking forward to arenas since I will still be the worst geared person every match.
You realize the idea here is to get people to play the game? Average players dont have 10000 hours to spend before the PvP is fun.
I feel ya as we talked about it on another post. I have the free time and still despise the systems currently in place and get where you’re coming from. Had friends get to 60 and just quit when they realized how much more they’d have to grind.
Believe it’s the primary reason why the playerbase died down.
Differ between good gear and high geascore. If you have a good gear geascore usually won’t hold you back in PvP.
Stop doing chest runs, really. As you said, its boring, and its extremely slow for increasing your Exp. Go expeditions (mainly Genesis, its fast), you get like 5 Expertise bumps every run which takes sub 20 minutes. You will be 600 in no time. At least on armor. Use gypsum casts for weapons/jewelry.
I know you are used to chest runs but honestly its the worst way of how to increase Exp nowadays.
Well the chest train is convenient and easy to find. I have a few hours a day to play the game. I dont always have time to sit around building a party and wondering if we are going to fail and lose my orbs. How do they expect us to understand this system? The game should have a dungeon queue system.
Regardless, PvP will still not be fun until Im on par with all the players with 625 gear.
I feel like you want it to be an old school MMO and not something new and fast paced and convenient like all the successful games are these days.
What server do you play on? Usually there are tons of normal Expedition runs for like 500g/spot or even free on per server (Dry Tree) and you get around 1000g for a run just from boss drops.
You don’t have to be picky while creating your own party for Expedition. People are experienced and geared enough to do +10, normal runs are really smooth and easy. And you get a lot of bumps.
Try it, you will be surprised how well and quick it goes
If you want to stay in the genre like a good bit of us with that mentality. Then your choices is to drop New World. And go play either GW2, ESO, FFXIV, BBO, or Lost Ark. Those are the MMOs that have either completely or close to equalized PvP venues. For players who are not yet geared.
In games like New World only gear and weapon choice matters. That’s how the Devs what NW to be. So either you are going to have to deal with it. Or simply go somewhere else that will supply your demand.
Gen 5 dps normal run is 10 min at best. For 2 weekends playing it on the side you can get to 600 from 500. Do little bit of a grind and you will be set to go. Before arenas, wars took very little of our time. Opr it’s just pure boredom. You could be easily 625 with many gear sets by now and ready to do arenas 24/7 with spare 100k shards for new pieces as well from some mutations. Influence push it’s the most boring thing ever when there’s no pvp involved and 3 factions having fun at the time
Why are you “wasting” time in a video game? Nobody is making you play it? You are always free to go “waste your time” on another video game? It’s your choice alone.
Why you even do chestruns even more?
You can easily run dungeons over and over again and get your expertise way faster than with this chestruns. Most people running those just like them or hope for good random drops and NOT for expertise.
As someone already said, just get your daily Umbral-Shards and run dungeons

Thats nothing compareable to the start of the game where noone did run expeditions due to extremly high crafting-costs and they had to do daily chestruns and slaying 64+ mobs over and over again. FOR MONTHS
Now the expertise system is extremly easy and fast to climb.
If you don´t want to invest time in a game, don´t play mmo´s.
that’s only true if you play one particular style like you mentions “no-lifing” in expeditions.
-this style of gameplay is not appealing or even possible for a lot of people.
why are people responses like this? “dont play”? so im not allowed to try and improve the things i enjoy, investing time is a thing, i get it but everyones time is different with different value and limit. and its also wrong, no matter what type of game you play you are investing time into it in hopes of getting fun/entertainment out of it. this just seems like the least constructive way to talk to fellow gamers and improve gaming.
I don’t do them much anymore but I enjoyed and appreciated chest runs. They were fun, looked cool, great loot and bumps for easytown instead of instances. Why hate on that?
