Without a whole new system or a game mode, there is a much easier way to revive PVP competition in New World. Simply add a currency you get when you kill others in OPR or open world, or when winning OPR games, participating in faction War and taking over open world forts and doing pvp faction missions, like honor in classic wow, once you reach a certain number, gain a rank title and access to a gear piece…etc until you reach a full gear set and the highest rank title. People will happily replay the same map for years, proven by wow classic pvp which came many months after pve only content in 1.x.
Leaderboards would also be a nice addition to the above so the whole server sees where everyone is at in terms of kills/ranks…etc. allowing others to show off their rank…etc.
Add more quest that can be taken in open world and can only be made with pvp activated. Not just faction quest but a lot of other npcs that can give you pvp quest too.
when farming, you take 25% more resources and earn more money per quest when flagged, this will convince pve players to risk and be flagged too
But the most important thing is not allow high levels to go starting zones to kill low levels, this can be easily fixed with a restriction where you can’t be attacked by a player that is 20+ levels higher than you. The higher player see you not flagged, but you can attack him if you want (Only for try hard pvp players lol)
Adding umbral shard rewards to PvP content would be a great opportunity to boost activity in open world and PvP. Having shards as reward from faction quests or OPR would definitely motivate the players sitting in Everfall and Windsward all day to go out to farm and fight when not running mutations.
