The future of new world PvE, raids, solo bosses and the way forwards

I believe new world is missing something which is a closing point to the end game loop.

Once you hit the end game and get 600 gs all content is open and there is nothing you can’t do in the game at all aside from farming your way up to M10 just to boost the gear to 625 and the game ends.

I believe now is the time to start considering raids and more challenging end game activities.

Let’s talk about raids and what we would like to see.

First of all let’s keep the scope a little smaller, 10 man raids should do, anything else starts getting into the point where the organisation starts becoming a bit alienating to try to put together and its harder to balance for 20 people than it is to balance for 10.
I am a big fan of two modes, a normal mode and a hard mode.
Normal so people can get a feel for it and is fairly casual friendly and a hard mode to set an aim for hardcore players.

The sooner we can start seeing content like this the better, it gives some idea of how far people can push things and what the devs can do when they make more content in the future.

Solo player bosses.
This game might be one of the few games where solo bosses could actually be a really interesting idea to flirt with. We don’t actually have any decent solo bosses at all the game and I’m sure players would love to test them selves.

Tomorrow they could retune arenas and would more than likely see more use if that content was set as a solo player challenge.

Hopefully they could mimic something similar to RuneScape where bosses had different set up requirements to beat the bosses efficiently and could have players experimenting with builds they had not played to beat some challenges.

Rewards structures.
This is the actual hard part to try to work out, hard content needs good rewards and currently I don’t know about the rest of you but I’ve got two almost perfected sets that would be super hard to actually find a decent upgrade for.

A few ideas to flirt with;
A 4th perk on gear that’s pve only and servers as an all bane or something along those lines.
Flasks that you fill potions with to get additional effects
Gems to put in gear that mimic weapon specific perks (could create new ones to go with it)
They could add enchants for weapons and armour (they could even back track older content to add weaker ones)

What do we think people, is it time to look to start closing the loop?

I’m all for additional content, I think a way forward for PvE players is a safe bet. The PvP in this game is… Well, it’s fine and obviously it’s going to continue to play a major role in the overall experience, but given that the wars are often fought by only the most geared players, it’s very much a guild activity. Raids and other more difficult PvE content can be there to bridge the gap for folks who aren’t interested in content like that.

PvP and PvE should both be a priority, but I really do believe that New World would benefit from a strong PvE foundation. Not only does that keep players in the game who might leave after their questing experience is done, but there’s always the opportunity to convert folks who might otherwise never bother to flag or even attempt to PVP to jump in and give it a shot. People are more likely to try out things that they consider side activities if the main thing they enjoy doing is fulfilling and plentiful.

There’s quite a few in my opinion!

You can start off on easier bosses and work your way up. Any world bosses under 63 should be pretty easy.

  • Then you can work up to medium difficulty bosses like the 3 Siren mini bosses.
  • Step up to the named bears as they are pretty tough because they hit like a truck and have massive HP, but it’s more of a test of endurance.
  • Finally you can test your mettle against the “thorpes” of myrk!

Honestly at this point they could give us PvP servers and we can sort out the PvP for ourselves for a while.

Defs wouldn’t mind a new OPR match thrown into the mix though

Give me capture the flag

I agree with this. I wish they would just give us pvp servers and the pvp community would be happy.

Then they can start focusing on raids. It is very strange for me to play an mmo without 10+ player raid content with endgame rewards. I want raids to have named items that are really good. Like BiS good. With a totally unique look to them as well. But make it haaard to obtain the gear. I would even be fine if this gear drops at 630 gearscore or something.

NO upgrade gear. no no. These drop at a fixed 630 gearscore. No extra attribute points but they can have slightly stronger deffense ratings and maybe like a 5th perk which is unique to PvE. Or maybe a set bonus which gives you a 5th perk if you have the entire set equipped. Obviously this set wont have resilience so it wouldnt be great for PvP regardless.

They can make it so you need to do the raids several times in order to get gear fragments and once you have enough you can craft the gear. The gear can only be crafted on a special crafting station which is located inside of the raid dungeon and you would need to clear through the dungeon before you can even access it. Do a weekly reset for the raid. Not a daily.

And I cannot emphasize this enough. Make it DIFFICULT. Dont let it be something that you can just PUG in a couple hours. Raid content is awesome when you need to progress raid it over the span of several days. When mechanics are complicated. Not just tank and spank and avoid AoE. Make the fights unique and interesting.

I will never take New world seriously as a pve game untill I see raids. Right now all I see in this game is a PvP focused game with some PvE side-content.
