Please tell us from other AAA companies (not indie) that take care of the game and customers like this. I will be interested on their games.
Another example is CA, Creative Assembly from Total War Franchise (SEGA is the distributor). They are aven on Discord, and Total War Warhammer III looks fantastic.
i thought that was an ironic thread but no. what do u smoke ? there are lots of players telling “they told devs about the issues/exploits/bugs at alpha” and they didnt solved these things and we are experiencing these all kind of errors 2 years after these alpha players reported. So basically that means devs just ignored alpha players which meant to be play the game and report the issues. so they didnt even care their alpha player’s opinions it seems like. and released the game with these errors from 2 years ago.
And u are telling us “devs are fantastic” ? I bet u are smoking some kind of strong thing.
Can you tell us an example of good and comunicative devs please? AAA companies, not indies.
Certainly!
Here you go: No maintenance, no patch, no communication - #275 by Razzaqi1066
This is an example of post on a “general” category. A member of the NW team responding, accepting the issue, and willfully saying we will do better.
Have you had this before? I personally have not. It’s a breathe of fresh air.
Not only that, there were a lot of complaints about the tool tip for discounts on first house with weekly tax. In my original post, I even noted how they owned this and offer a peace offering of 2k coins for that confusion.
Do you guys really not understanding the lengths they are going to, in order to try and make this a great game?
I figured this post would be controversial due to all the negative gamers out there…
A little sad really.
This is like paying the price for a Ford F150, but actually getting a fancy Porsche that may not be for everyone… and then brats expecting it should be an ultra rare McLaren F1 worth millions for the price of a standard truck.
Again, great work Devs. Keep it up.
What lengths are you talking about? You make it sound like they achieved some Olympic milestone. It’s their job, just like the people that work at Blizzard.
Ye right, the amount of times a Blizzard game master contacted me ingame and fixed the issue immediately. I still have to see that in New World…oh wait everything is automated right?
I have a ticket open with Blizzard right now that has been open for over 8 months without resolution. With very little communication, for a resulting error during a realm transfer and the character being inaccessible.
I think you underestimate what it takes to develop a polished bug free game.
People also think, “Oh it’s Amazon!” They must have unlimited Money to do everything! That is not even remotely how it works. They have a division like any other company, with budgets, time frames, goals, metrics, etc.
Anyway, not going to continue arguing with you. I think the SOME of the gaming community can be particular rotten and lack appreciation. Maybe that’s just people. :}
I think something else that should be kept in mind, their structure, organization, and management may not being something that we are all familiar with. Just because it’s different does not mean that it is bad.
“Gamers” typically have no idea what they are talking about, and I wouldn’t be surprised if actual valid issues got ignored because a gamer was unable to properly convey the issue in a way that made sense. A great example of this is the recent “invulnerable” “game state” bug. How i’ve seen a majority of gamers explain this is entirely inaccurate, and flat-out false. There’s even videos that attempt to spread this misinformation. They know nothing about game development. I will not explain it here, either. Go pick up a book or go to school; I have no interest in helping skiddies find more exploits.
excellent point.
Hey, I feel bad for you. 8 Months is not acceptable, but thats YOUR situation, YOUR experience. Mistakes are made everywhere. Making an appreciation thread is fine and I am pretty sure the mods and devs like to see some positivity from time to time.
You knew this was going to be a controversial topic to talk about. Then why do you continue to defend it? You said what you wanted to say, just like the rest of us, now lets leave it at that.
I agree with that.
Good luck out there, and enjoy your time!
I also think the game and the devs is great.
Yes, I am totally aware of the exploits and as I am a programmer having done distributed systems and more I am also aware of why. I additionally agree, that this part should have been done better. But current state is as it is and the past can’t be changed.
I am seeing continuous work on multiple aspects of the game, thus I appreciate the work being done. This is what matters to me.
What also matters to me are small little details like a little relationship between a guy and an alligator both called Nekumanesh (you probably didn’t realise that up to now).
But lets go back to the exploits that were reported in the alpha and still persisting: I don’t know how that happened or why that wasn’t changed earlier, still I assume it is now very present and action to change it is taken accordingly (we will see).
So that is my point of view, still I understand people being disappointed or even furious of the stuff happening.
GOOD JOB!
It is true that there are al sorts of issues around that were flagged in the test phases, though I have to admit I have seen this in every MMO I have played. I am not excusing the devs here, more just raising what I find is an interesting question - Why???
I understand that MMOs are huge beasts and it is impossible to quash all bugs, but why is it every one of them seems to fail at fixing significant bugs raised during testing. I can understand putting bugs like ‘ladle disappearing when interacting with a cauldron’ on the low priority list, but all the games end up with exploit/big bugs raised at early test stages creeping into the release.
As for this thread of positive vibes, it may be a bit over the top, but I don’t think the devs are nearly as bad as the common posts suggest, so maybe a bit of appreciation is good. They bit off more than they can chew for sure, and I am sure the unwieldy monster that is Amazon actually makes it harder to do the job rather than easier
As a 65±year-old player who has been gaming since the beginning of games, I just wanted to share my thoughts on New World. I did not want to participate in the beta. I decided to wait until the game was officially released. And the wait was worth it. This game is not perfect, but it appears the developers are in touch with their player base and are actually listening and addressing issues in a timely matter. I realize you can’t please all of the people all of the time, but in its current state, New World pleases me very much. And hopefully, as the game evolves, it will only get better.
I appreciate the Devs. As someone who was there when WoW came out, over 16 years ago, I actually see a lot in common - Someone above said “times up, release it”, There is a massive amount of the world left in sketches and plans, The game is full of lag and glitches and problems, And yet there’s just something about it that keeps you coming back for more.
I’m almost 400 hours in and still discovering new things. Still not done every quest. Still not running out of gold. Having a great time except when seeing the high level content is very unpolished and unfinished (Much like early WoW zones in Vanilla).
Like others in the thread, I see a ton of potential in this game but it’s also fair to say, this game feels like a beta - Honestly, it could have released capping at level 50, and held back those 50-60 zones and systems for additional polish, and I think we’d be in a better place.
I agree the game is very good and they are doing a good job
I assume this is Devs moms room.
Why would we pat someone on the back for fixing things they should have done correctly in the first place.
Game was launched way sooner than should have been.
I believe they are very active and trying to make things better. They were very responsive on twitter before launch and act like they truly want to make New World better. I believe something is going on behind the scenes, a big problem with the source code maybe, which is why all of this is getting worse.
They might not come out and say hey this is the problem because they are worried of the back lash or maybe trying to get ahead of it. It’s sad really because the state of the game doesn’t necessarily mean that the team doesn’t care.
I’m sure a lot of them are actually pretty upset at what’s going on but it seems like a dismal hole at this point. Whatever they haven’t done well they are trying to improve upon like with the communication about this weeks patch.
I give you guys props because of regardless of what’s going on at head quarters and in the face of thousands of angry players you’re still getting up everyday and trying to make things better. That’s a hard thing to do and a lot of us in their position would fold.
Good vibes to all of them, I hope you guys figure out what’s plaguing this game and fix it. I’m going to play regardless to the bitter end because I am still enjoying aspects of the game. I believe it has a lot of potential. I just hope it gets there because it feels like it’s worse and worse everyday.
