The game needs a PvP-enabled zone

I didn’t read the other guys post, but I completely agree, with the pvp servers.
From a casual pve’ers pow, having the option to engage in pvp sometimes or to defend your favorite territory, is more than enough pvp for me…

However, if theres a large enough player base, to fill servers with happy people killing each other left and right, I think the devs should totally make a server or 2, just for you guys.

Yes and PvP zone would achieve exactly that. Why do you think it wouldn’t?

You latched onto a game where it’s not done well enough (The Division) but as other people have mentioned there are games (say ESO) with dedicated PvP only Zones which were done well enough and thus remained populated for years.

The current system discourages people from PvPing instead of giving them a sandbox to play in.

I do see what you mean but at this point the way it is the whole faction system between the three colours are pointless.

The only reason anyone has for picking a faction is basically just what the faction-specific armour look like. Other than that then you might as well abolish the faction system and only have company control territory.

The idea is more a zone where you’re autoflagged for PvP, so you’d be at risk gathering the resources. Iron nodes serve as a major bottleneck right now so it’s not a terrible idea to have a few nodes where conflict is inevitable but you don’t have to go in, plenty of other good gathering routes.

Did you read what I said?
If they do some smooth and balanced PVP with some good animationI have no problem with it.
But right now, it’s a mess and far from bringing any fun. And I don’t talk about gang or being under leveled; idc about those futile and basic PvP stuff. The actual combat gameplay of this game doesn’t do the job for the PvP part of the game.

And actually, I bought a PvE-PVP game, not just a PvP one…

Great idea, this must be adressed by the new world developer team.

When i remenber one of my first online games Knight Online, so many good memories, thousands and thousand of players, servers always full… we had a zone called Colony Zone where players were forced to fight the oposite faction, for the control of the territory and the right to kill the boss that spawn in it. The game was incredible and so much bc of it… if new world could take some of these ideas that resulted so well 20 years ago, would have a lot to gain from it

I don’t think it needs Elite spawn points and top gear drops like the OP suggested.

I genuinely believe people would fight over titles, achievements and cosmetic rewards. I’ve seen it happen in other MMOs where PvP is actually a sink rather than a gain, yet people played it for years

That top areas that can’t be bought by factions should be contested areas with full time pvp. The other areas should remain as it is.

I can’t agree with full time pvp without pvp balance we had back in first beta, it’s not nice for lower levels since the world is filled with assholes me being one.

Seeing how long does it take for them to implement server transfers, i wouldnt expect any big update like this any time soon. I love the idea of course. Influence pushing is just plain boring, you need to do it for hours and hours, sometimes without pvp. Now after update it will be even more hours. I just want to have some pvps going in open world. I would be happy to enter “dangerous” zone. One suggestion would be, no camps can be placed, or they can be destroyed. This needs to happen, or pvp is non existent in open world.

A pvp only zone with 3 outposts that act for respawn and some shrines for fast travel in the region would be nice. Some npcs maybe in some parts but scarse.

Open world pvp only

Also, trading

I would definitely like to see some tweaks to combat, I like pvp but combat feels a bit clunky overall. There’s definitely fun to be had so sorry you haven’t got to experience it. The least fun aspect of it so far is the zergs, I mean it’s still fun but the really good fights are the small scale skirmishes, fighting against odds and stuff like that.

I honestly bought the game to PvP. I compete on the markets and in open world, I’m still a low level but the scaling makes fighting hilarious.

I read what you said and I maintain that it makes no sense and sounds entitled.

I said you bought a game with PvP, not an exclusively PvP game. Call it PvPvE or PvP-PvE or whatever… the point is the game came with PvP since its inception and it’s more realistic removing yourself from the game if you don’t like it, than removing PvP.

Improvements in combat and animations should happen but if not enough people are PvPing because there is hardly any benefit atm then there won’t ever be any push for such changes.

I disagree, it will detach the faction and pushing influence from the game. This is worst thing to happen.

Heh, So I was actually waiting for this thread to come up again. I can’t say anything here because it could possibly get me banned, but this is a planned upcoming feature. When? I have no clue.

I don’t know what’s the problem with the PvP flagging system we have now.
If someone wants to PvP, they flag themselves. If they don’t, they don’t.

The amount of players who flag themselves at the moment is precisely the same that are interested on PvP’ing.
So why does the game need areas/servers with forced PvP? It feels as if you PvP’ers want to force PvP’ing to those who don’t feel for it or like it.

Just think that all those players that you see around that aren’t flagged, they wouldn’t just exist at all if the game/area was Forced PvP.
As it is now, the current system is the best of both worlds. It is as having a full PvP server coexisting with a PvE server.
The only disadvantage I see on that is that both PvE and PvP players compete for the same resource nodes, with the PvP players not being able to fight back. But I don’t think a PvP-centric player does it for the thrill of farming nodes in a warzone.

I actually would like the idea of a PvP enabled Zone. The servers are currently quite stable and after the server character switch, i believe that some servers could loose a considerable amount of players too, so to than also open PvP servers to reduce the total player count againt, might not be the best move.
I like the idea of a sepcific zone ingame, with as already above mentioned, decent amount of nodes (trees/ores and stuff) you can fight over.
On top of that you could maybe place a fort in the center, wich your faction can take over and the longer your faction holds it, the more rewards you will get (speaking of materials attached to your level/skill level, or treasures).
I could see that working for people that wanna do PvP and also like to have an objective to do besides waiting for a war to break out.

I don’t know what it’s like on your server but we have territory wars across every single zone, whenever they’re able to go into conflict. But flagged PvP tends to take place solely on PvP mission routes and zergs being unproductive outside a random set of city gates.

As it currently is, most of our wars have a minimum of 50 in standby and as more players are hitting max level, they’re desire to smack things grows. You could fit it into the faction warfare missions with camps in the region and rewards for conflict, or you can simply have a zone where PvE only players can simply not go to because the resources are acquirable in similar amounts elsewhere.

AGS has so far been (too) quiet on the post-release content roadmap.

Suffice it to say if they came out and said “We’re adding a PvP zone in a future update” a lot of concerns could be put to rest - pending the details of said zone, of course. But I’m hoping AGS doesn’t try to re-invent the wheel here, as the concept has been tried, tested, and perfected in other games.
