They aren’t minority.
But PVE players have bigger mouth , thats why they sound bigger.
Actually PvP in this game is like a moba, hit, blow cool downs, run away, hit, run, hit, run. Repeat
Congratiolations.
You made it into the top 5 garbage postings.
Players, who complain most and loudest in these forums are PvP fanatics, who have demanded nerfs all over since release (except their prefered builds of course). They complain about every aspect of NW. They dont care about 80% of the game. PvP fanatics are the group of people that scream like a baby’s pacifier was taken away.
I agree. I keep hearing that PvP games never do well but where does this statment really come from? Why can’t PvP games do well and also what does doing well mean because there are successful long running PvP focused MMOs.
PvP in other genras (like LoL, CoD, Tarkov, Heartstone or whatver) do well so it has nothing to do with the fact that people don’t want to battle other players and thats the argument OP is making.
Wars in NW are also doing well as there are constant wars so clearly there is a desire to PvP in NW too. PvE players tend to be quite vocal and narrow minded when it comes to their playstyle (PvP player tend to engage in PvE but its often not the case the other way around) so are vocal to shutdown any PvP argument as it doesnt fit their playstyle.
When it comes to the argument of comparing apples to apples then the PvE crowd has no problem talking about playing Elden Ring or Lost Ark which are also completley different to NW but are happy to shoot down your argument. Case in point about PvE players generally being very vocal to defend their own playstyle.
NW needs to move away from their PvE focus and salvage PvP. Its by far the most developed area of the game and tend to draw longterms players in. Yes perhaps in smaller numbers compared to PvE but they stick around and require less content (becase other players are the content) and at the end of the day, we’ve gone from 900k to <100k so cleary, the PvE focus is NOT working).
Finish developing War mechanics, faction mechanics, work on balance and combat systems and it would sustain NW while PvE can be built in the background over the next year or two.
If AGS keep ignoring PvP and put all their resources into PvE then the game will be dead before they are in a fit state to compete with the other MMO PvE games.
For example the “pinnacle of PvP MMO” that is MO2, which launched to great fanfare with 9k peak concurrent players.
PVP does well in other genres, but not in persistent world MMOs.
MO2 is probably the worst example but you know that. So what about ‘Titan’ from Blizzard then? It was so bad it never even released. Proof PvE games can’t make it?
This is my entire point about PvE players being very negative about any aspect of PvP because they dont want anything to do with it and so have to put it down but WoWs most popular servers were PvP server for well over a decade - how is that possible then?
What I see is that NW that was hailed as a PvP game and this is what most people expected it to be, very late on it got changed to a PvE focus and that that focus just grew. A lot of people that joined NW still expected PvP to be the main focus and have been very disapointed and have since left the game. You still speak to people who dont understand why a PvP focused game is getting more and more PvE content. The message clearly never reached a lot of players.
The entire idea that NW can only be PvE game when the majority of the mechanics were built for PvP is a bit absurd to be honest. As its a fact we can all agree on that NW has failed with the current focus so it only makes sense to go back to what it was originally designed for to salvage it. The current course is cleary the wrong one as the players numbers show and that is not speculation its hard facts.
If the devs want to be validate this then release PvP servers and offer transfers and see what happens. They can disable War alltogether as well on PvE servers and then just look to see where players end up. My money is on the PvP servers will be the most popular ones with the healthiest communities while PvE dries up as silent wastelands filled with toxic/elitist Mythic+ dungeons clubs.
I have been playing EVE Online for the past 5 years.
Its one of those weird mmo’s that cannot be compared to any other mmo. Its unique in so many ways to a point no other mmo can match its scale and brutality.
As far as player base is concerned it hasnt dropped to an alarming level over the 20 odd years of its lifetime. It has one (single shard) server and the highest pop was generally during 2012 - 2014 ish spiking up to 50k+.
In 2022 its still holding a decent 35k concurrent accounts logged during its peak hrs.
What i like about eve is that your character progression happens automatically and is time constrained for everyone at same pace unless you use real money or ingame money to inject skill points. But then again it has insane diminishing returns to a point people dont do it much after a certain level.
So you character keeps leveling up passively whether you play the game or not as long as you are subbed and pve grinding only happens to make enough money for the ships you loose in pvp.
Eve is not made for cry babies, its bruital and pvp is unforgiving but very challenging and enjoyable at the same time.
Eve is a great game its just that the learning curve is tough at the start and its insanely unforgiving to new players. But if you are one of those people who toughen it out and weather the storm it is very rewarding later on and thats why most of the older players still play the game.
Bottom line is you cannot compare how eve is doing to new world cuz its such a unique game you will never experiance in other mmo’s
Sounds like you’ve never been good at pvp and just have to make excuses
Sure.
You are correct in your assessment if devs don’t change the culture and don’t enforce proper behavior - this is the most prominent failure of Blizzard to date. This is why everyone rages about party finder.
If, however, AGS pulls finger out of their asses and starts doing what responsible developer should do, PVE servers will become much more popular than PVP servers quite easy, because PVE foundations are good in this game
They point which aspects of the game that need to be review by dev, at least on their point pf view. While pve players doesn’t think looting boxes without killing the boss on open dungeon is one of good thing from 80% of the game.
Well feel free to throw my comment to the garbage. But looks like your comment has already proved me right.
Yeah
I think every person has something he good at while gaming. But it doesnt mean what he is suck at, is bad. Like for example for some people looting box without killing mobs or bosses is considered as good aspect about the game while pvp is suck.
That game is ONLY pvp. MOBAs and MMOS are not the same. I stopped reading at that point to type this.
PvP will always be the minority in MMO gaming.
. <—
These are global percentages. I’m not saying that PvP isn’t important. I’m just saying that in this game PvPers (hardcore PvPers) are an ultra small minority.
Please send the global percentages for killing Lazarus and Genesis.
lol
Laz: 4.2%
Gen: 5.2%
And these dungeons have really good rewards compared to pvp. And they have an entire welfare patch where an endgame system funnels everyone into them.
How dead would PvE be without the mutator welfare patch?
Why is the game dying after this patch?
If you want to use data from steam achievement. Then its wrong to say pvp players are minority. If you check more, number of players who reach level 60 is only around 16%. and if 9% has done first outpost achievement, meaning more than 50% of lvl 60 players have done it. While only 5.3% has done genesys expedition.
First pvp war achievement- 7.8%
First pve war achievement - 2.2%
Around of ppl who play the game to the end game. Majority of them is pvp players.
You can find those data in steam global achievement. See it by yourself so there is no BS.
Who cares, AGS needs to tell the whiney pve players to kick rocks…
Looks to me your a teenager than because DAoc and SWG both had fantastic PvP but both went exactly the way NW has gone - Killed by Dev’s with thier ‘own vision’ and forget anything else (oh and just so you know what I mean, Smedley destroyed SWG just like he is destroying NW).
Guess a twat never changes his spots.
The thing I find ironic, is New World sacrificed a TON of its combat quality to be more accessible and have a mass appeal. Players who defended this change cried out that PvPers and people seeking an MMO with skill-based combat are a minority.
Turns out, New World is even more niche than the PvP-focused games.
Makes me laugh every time.
Yeah they are killing the mass appeal and don’t seem to realize it…casuals make or break most games unless you built the game for a niche audience to start with which is clearly not what AGS wanted for NW.
which means you are sampling only 16% of the potential player base and you have no idea about the pve/pvp preference of the other 84% because they either left the game for good or have it in standby until AGS fix the shitshow of bugs NW has
Also we need to take into consideration that a pvp player is more likely to reach lvl60 due to the EXP bonus that flagging provides.
the is a good chance that pve population left before reaching 60 due to bugs a bad game design like gating dungeons behind orbs
edit: I’m assuming all those achievements you mentioned are only doable by lvl60 players, if that’s no the case then ignore my comment
