Are there any mechanics in place or planned for having any kind of equalizing? Gear seems to be at the heel of a lot of this too, people are hooked on the reward when itās such a bar for what you can take part in.
Yeah and only siths deal in absolutes.
ā¦which is itself an absolute. You get me?
Its ok to be bad PvPerā¦you can only get better. but donāt try to change the game cause you are bad at it to satisfy your Ego
If you canāt take a bit of trash talk go play a solo adventure game
i bet you are bad at both or any game you play then call for nerfs then you assume and call people names
nice try tho
Okay lets be real. If you genuinely enjoy pvp, you never needed GC. GC became an excuse for people simply because it was a fast track to 0-200 the pvp track. If GC was the only reason people pvpād in the open world, there are no genuine pvpers left in New World.
I come top 5 opr when I feel like it. No sweat
pvp is inherently toxic and causes people to hate one another. Thatās all.
LoooooL do you even play the game bro?
Youāre playing a MMORPG bud.
Yes
But why donāt you apply this exact same logic to PvE? Thatās my point. If PvP can thrive on its own merit, then so can expeditions. So can the whole game. Remove levels, remove gear score, remove all incentives and just let the game be fun on its own.
Great Cleave was accidentally too rewarding but it caused open world pvp. You cannot have open world pvp if there is no reason to be in the open world. Great Cleave was also a microcosm. It forced the population into one area (itās a big world). You think people just want to run around flagged, hoping to find other people flagged? Thatās not how it works and itās not what makes it exciting. What makes it exciting is that I am doing X when at any time, I can be attacked and emergent gameplay results. Right now, AGS seems to be content with making a lobby game. Sit in town and queue for content.
Youāre exactly right, literally everything should stand on its own merits, I just noted GC since thatās the topic.
And about lobby queues too, but thatās why Iām saying the rewards may be part of the problem. The need to pursue the rewards at maximal profit at all times is unfortunate, and the game would be better for either less reliance on these rewards or a more balanced access so no one thing is the āmetaā way to get those rewards, and ideally through that thereās more engagement and less idling in town between pops.
I think they should definitely focus on getting more content engagement, but again, I think that problem is also (at least partially) rooted in the company system. And thatās a bit more complex than just boosting rewards or tightening quest ranges, I think.
a good chuck of at the least PVP engagement will probably be fixed if they do a proper ranking system.
individual and company based.
pvpers love that shit.
That just sums up the disappoint that blew up on reddit in 2019/early 2020 after the announcement of optional flagging.
PvP-only persistent worlds can have times that feel bad and times that feel amazing. Like any experience in life, the highs and lows define each other.
AGS knee-capped the lows to attract a wider audience, and the highs got diminished as a consequence.
Unfortunately, there are repeated and intentional choices from AGS that continually force us closer to an area of mitigated lows and capped highs, which invariably pushes people towards indifference.
People hating your game is perfectly healthy, because it means others love it. People being largely indifferent to your game is a death sentence. Dark Souls exemplified this as a polarizing series, and itās thriving because of it.
One of my earliest suggestions to encourage OWPvP was a basic persistent rank system. Not just ranked arenas or oprs, but player ranks that persist throughout the game.
Attach leaderboards and possibly even some desirable rewards and watch people go nuts.
Obviously, the devs didnāt care for it. I think they fear it for the same reasons they avoid damage meters.
didnāt they mention a pvp scoreboard was coming in fall?
yep. but we will see what it actually means.
something is coming but we have no idea what it actually will be like.
I am PVX. I do dungeons, I farm, and I am in OPR probably 4-5 times per playing day and shuffle into arenas. Of course I fight open world where I find it. Iāve fought a handful of wars, but never really cared enough to commit myself to whatever schmoozing Iād need to do to get into them regularly (if I was even good enough).
Anyway, I think we all forget the magnitude of PvX players and act like itās all pure PvE or pure PvP. The world, including this New World, is not so black and white. This post is about the pure PvPers. Ya know who you are.
As a preliminary matter, GC was often enough a good experience and I think itās a bummer they got rid of it.
With that said, I feel like the āhardcore,ā āpureā PVPers will never be satisfied. Now, there arenāt many of those people, but there are enough and theyāre pretty vocal. Iāve played since launch; Iāve been on these forums enough to have seen the trends. In February/March all the talk was about arenas. āArenas will save the gameā went the mantra. Echoed by PVPers across these forums. Players will come back for arenas! Well, then May comes and by the first couple weeks of June arenas were old news. There are posts within the first week deciding it was ānonsense.ā Putting aside the fact it is what AGS said it would be - a 3v3 PvP experience - apparently the matchmaking was such a problem that it was not worth doingā¦at all. It wasnāt worth goIng into a match against pre-made groups. Now, depending on the server (but including healthy ones) it can be hard to get into an arena match. Having played in dozens and dozens of arenas matches, never in a pre-made group, I donāt see what the big deal is that people have with playing in it.
But open world PvP is the answer! Those times where we Zerg back and forth, back and forth, against pre-made groups, companies bigger than oneās own. The name of the game is often who can bring more people to the fight and then trash talk like it was even all along. Letās not forget, among the āgreat daysā in GC there were days where you couldnāt leave the settlement if you were part of the non-monopolizing faction. That is to say not much PvP if what youāre looking for out of New World is an organic, somewhat even fight.
The PVPers need to decide what it is that they want without compelling others to do what they want. They get into these echo chambers of sorts where they hang out with other PvPers and form this belief that the whole game is made up of PvPers. It is not. Moreover, arenas were a wonderful idea, but now nobody wants to play them. Say itās the matchmaking (or lack thereof) or the lack of rewards, but FFS you got what you wanted. Some people have the vision of the game that is much like what existed at alpha (which I totally understand), but like it or not, isolated PvE is not going anywhere. Nor are you going to conscript PvE players to be fodder. This is just a practical reality of how the game has developed.
Making the new territory PvP only would be pretty silly, even though it would be extremely well suited to how I personally play. Nothing is gained except a shallow ego boost by having PvE players having to fight seasoned PvP players for nodes the latter doesnāt have the time or inclination to sell or craft with. If you want to PvP, turn it on, walk around - someone will find you. I also cannot stomach people saying that it will āsave the gameā anymore. Putting aside the question of whether the game needs to be saved, or CAN be saved, the community already cried wolf and it is really hard to get past the arena issue. I get it, you HATED it, but that didnāt even coincide with a wonderful return of players just to try it out. The month where it seemed like we may have leveled or made a comeback was the Tempest update, so if history is any predictor of what will bring players back, it does not seem to be PvP content.
Of course, because a minority (and I stress minority), but very vocal, section of the PvP world equate PvP with winning the fight, this will face resistance as theyād much rather have an easy fight than an uneven fight, which, is to say, they donāt want PvP for the thrill of fighting others in a spontaneous and exciting challenge of skill - they just want the shallow feeling of winning and boasting to friends about the tank they just killed. But god forbid a musket player kill them then itās because of broken PvP.
And I want to stress again that itās really this small group of PvPers. Theyāre just quite vocal and set in their ways and Iām sure we all know someone, or maybe a few people, who are like that.
With that said, from my perspective as a non-pure PvP player (aka PvX player), of course there can be improvements. A new OPR map, instanced wars untethered to territory control, better fort combat (perhaps an āattack and defendā mode on a smaller scale than wars?), maybe some of the ideas from alpha where you can construct OPR-like bases with your company in designated open-world areas that generate modest revenue, maybe siphon from the territory settlementās income (I like the idea of calling it a toll), desync improvements - always desync improvements - player bounties like alpha, replacing the declaration system. There are ideas out there.
Anyway, thatās my missive. Hope to see you all around.
They must stop to force almost all content to PVE, we are forced to PVE in each patch. Dungeons? PVE with BiS gear . U want to craft? Forced to PVE to get trophis, mats, gold etc. Nothing involve PvP, all game features are about forced PvE always with 0 PvP. Its time to stop that Forced PvE only features and add Some PvPvE to have also impact in to the economy and crafting and game. We are tired of only PvE features have impact⦠an event to craft bis gear? all about PvE with 0 PvP. A new dungeon with BiS items? force PvE wiith 0 PvP. PvP arenas? 0 rewards, instaced, no impact in to the economy, no impact in to the world. Tired of that meaning, tired of only PvE features must be āimportantā and PvP features must be in the floor. Start to add More PvP features to have more importance, and start to do PvE rewardless as PvP is till now. So buff PvP rewards because is lot more hard do PvP and reduce PvE reward because is lot more easy kill an NPC with Predictible and repĆØtitive AI than a PvP players. SO right now is really anoying. Stop Force all content around PvE . PvPrs dont want to PvE all day we want Content to PvP and to have also impact in the game.
Instead of put all instances about PvE start to put about PvPvE, all zones of the map are safe. Instead of this put zones also about PvP. PvPrs are tired of that forced PvE content we want features for US.!
Instead of add all event about PvE add event around PvP. 2 big event and 1 lesser event released and nothing about PvP.
til now is 90% Pve - 10% PvP. All dungeons PvE, all content in otuworld PvE, all events in to the game PvE, all zones in map PvE and 0 consecuences to die. No one zone of the map u must go with PvP 0 zones in the map PvP means, kill players means, dead by players means ⦠in no one. SO for me they must start to add lot of zones for PvPrs to archieve that 50%- 50%. We are tired of forced PvE all the time
I find it incredible that they have placed an option to create dungeon equipment, but I find it a terrible idea that they force you to do the same dungeons to be able to manufacture those pieces. They must have made the manufacture of those weapons like the rest of the named weapons that exist.
