The main issue with Expeditions

I’ve been playing various MMOs since 2004. I’ve had good and bad experiences along the way but I’ve never played a game that is so resistant to players playing instanced PvE. In the case of New World, I’m referring to the expeditions.

I don’t understand why this content is being so brutally timegated through grinds. I’m also not sure why AGS thought it would be a good idea to have that timegated be both a material grind as well as a weekly crafting lockout per person on the tuning orb for higher end PvE content. Meanwhile we have to resort to killing a handful of random mobs out in the world hoping for a watermark increase or random legendary drop with a god roll.

People still playing this game like to grind. We will grind shit PvE content until our eyes bleed and we inevitably burn out. You need to remove the tuning orb system entirely and allow us to grind the content we want to grind as much as we want to.

Tuning orbs currently feel like something that we need to save and hoard until our watermark is a completely 600 in all slots.

Attuning to a dungeon should be a one time grind to unlock the dungeon for your character (already in the game via the quest lines). Once we get through that WE THE PLAYERS should be the ones deciding when and how often we want to run the expeditions. I can guarantee you that the game would be much more engaging from a PvE perspective if this is how things were done.

So, what were you thinking? When are you removing tuning orbs?

The game is like real life you’ve to work hours for 2min of fun.

I don’t think the posters intention is to “spam” the expeditions per say. Or maybe they do. (I do feel there should be some sort of cap) “sorry” Maybe just mitigate it some other way. Besides being locked behind single use orbs & difficulty levels.
I honestly like this crafting feature. But, it can be a big :rooster: block. Has a hard Cap feel to it based on how much grinding there is into crafting it for some.

(They did just adjust it so orb crafting materials have an increased drop rate) “supposedly”

Even making the Orb multi use would make Orbs more appealing. Like adding certain amounts of Azoth to it & that adds an extra use to it up to 5 depending on how much Azoth you put in. Or something similar if they are keeping this system.

I say keep it just tweak it.

I think a safe middle ground is have, at the very most, a daily lockout on loot from the expeditions.

A lot of us have been grinding the two priests up in Myrk guard, running around forecastle in Reekwater, and clearing or soloing Ambusti for weeks. It gets stale. Being able to hit the expeditions daily, even if only once a day, would really help alleviate some of the stagnation in the PVE content.

If they don’t wanna ppl to farm the dung that’s fine there are other way to deal with that but what they are asking now it’s simply a joke.

Even if they where to cut the requirments to half it would still take something like 15-20 days (if not more) of grind for a casual player to unlock a single key and this would ask him to give up on every other task.

Even on old school Lineage 2 they didn’t forced this kind of grind on ppl to access Valakas and Antharas

The thought were: “Oh, we dont have any content and only 4 months before launch. Lets just use gear score and orbs so players have to kill those 5 monsters over and over and over again before we come up with some real content. That is it! Lets have some ice cream, we nailed this one!”
