Hatchet is underperforming right now, there needs to be a lot of QoL on top of buffs for the weapon
The hotfix seems to have made it worse idk how but ive been a hatchet user forever and its just hits different now
Try rapier with the leeching fury perk (for life steal)… 200 Dex, 150 INT, 150 CON. In medium.
You can solo PVE any mob or boss. I think it’s the only class that allows you to solo at high level.
Hotfix addressed the hatchet bug. It was stacking the crit multiplier
Now it just misses half the shots even though your hatchet is up a mobs ass and swinging at its guts internally.
Im just curious where the Devs got hatchet is the most popular weapon in the game from.
I guess Hatchet is favored for levelling/PvE,
but you rarely ever see them in PvP…
and when you do theyre normally flying
past you hitting the air whille you get free
backshots.
I use a trenchant recovery/keen Gaxe and solo a lot of open world mobs/bosses. I can usually solo any trash mob up to 66 gold and any world boss up to 63 gold. I’ve toyed with leaching/life stealing but the trenchant recovery just heals so much with divine.
I’m also considering a S&S with leaching on shield and trenchant recovery on sword to see if I can solo Myrk
I do use hatchet right now. Despite it’s many failings(hitbox/pvp/throwing tree…ye gods) the hatchet is a pretty good solo/pve weapon.
That said I just don’t see many other hatchet players out there amongst the playerbase. It’s a niche off-meta choice right now.
Most popular weapon? I’m calling shenanigans. No way in hell.
They said it in the Feb dev video, towards the end IIRC.
Could have been people using the On Fire feature whenever they looked at the data.
One out of every two Hatchet swings totally misses in PVP, so hitting someone for double damage made it feel like 1.2 again.
And yeah, hearing the devs dismissively say that it is the most popular weapon is just a gut punch.
First, Hatchet is popular only for PVE. And even then, there is a ton of frustration, especially in hitting larger mobs with awkward hitboxes.
Second, if it’s so popular, then why is it that 99% of Hatchet players are constantly complaining about its awful tracking and hit detection issues? And how many Hatchet players use the Throwing tree at all?
Oh its trash in PvP, at least for large scale.
I dont really look at PvP balance in 1v1 terms.
I would be perfectly fine using it as an assassin-style weapon in PVP. But the damn thing just misses so damn often. You pretty much need to run light or medium and dodge right up into their hitbox to have a hope of hitting them.
Not talking about that
Bots for speed buff
Its just stupid that nulifying oblivion can remove berserker. I think that skill is unique and should be not removable.
People use hatchet to run faster. That’s probably what the devs mean.
that’s definitely what it is. People are just chest running right now and because of this I kinda fear that they’re just relying solely on metrics excluding other variables.
I run WH/GA with trenchant recovery. It was money for a while. With the recent change it’s not as fun for solo play, but still viable. It was the only thing that kept me playing a few hours per week.
But now I just login for cooldowns, every couple of days. I grinded Laz / Gen for 4 weeks and my highest expertise is 591. This game does nothing but burn people out and frustrate them.
Yeah, I was very surprised when they said that. It’s almost certainly because it’s the weapon of choice of bots.
