I will bet you 5m gold that OPRs, wars, and even arenas, will be basically the same after leaderboards go live. If you think this is gonna materially change the meta, or change how people like to play the game, you couldn’t be more wrong.
Leaderboards will have very minor impact to how people play the game. The vast majority of the population won’t even care about them. The only thing that will change how people play the game are combat balance updates.
We’ll see then. I can guarantee that people will play more stat-pad builds to compete for leaderboards. Can guarantee people will play even more ratty for K/D LBs. etc.
If points captured in OPR was a leaderboard, or Baronesses slain, you know actual objectives in the game mode, then I’d say the changes would be for the better. But most of the leaderboards completely miss the actual purposes of the game modes.
Leaderboards are something they could have released with absolutely no preview or “testing phases” or even an announcement until it was live. They used it to buy time.
Let’s just hope the “big surprise” they have in store has been worth it.
This leaderboards are not competitive and have nothing to do with competition at all.
Everyone was asking for a ranked mmr system but not leaderboards that say nothing and can be easily exploited.
Or maybe, just maybe because their proposed implementation rewards and incentivizes bad player behavior and exploiting instead of measuring skillful play.
Can yall be patient? It will only take half a year for them to start thinking about changes, and only another year for changes to be implemented into PTR
This is what makes me never want to come back to the forums. If you based your opinion on new world by the forums it seems like a shame not worth trying but it’s a great game.
People complained and complained wanting leader boards and now they are here and they complain about it.
bugs, desync, lag, exploits, terrible pvp balance, OPR team balance. horrible territory control system. very low PVE cap. no story. and more also plays a huge factor.
No, it isn’t lacking content - at least not in first place. First and foremost the core has to be fixed before another content is added upon the already broken stuff. And the core is the combat system and its balance. That should have been done long ago and was half heartedly started and then layed aside to implement things like instruments or overhowling the start experience. Things that are surely fancy to code but didn’t adress any fundamental problems this game has. If they can’t get this stuff fixed then they should probably tell us and anounce the game to be PVE only. This way the PVP oriented players at least know what’s at stake and can finally look for alternatives - if they have not already done so - instead of still hoping AGS to get things straight.
