The New Territory Management Changes Don't Address Real Issue

Opinion piece. Don’t stone me in the public square, just sharing something I’ve been thinking about since the first time stepping foot into every town.

I think the new Territorial Management changes aren’t a bad solution if the problem was really about money and power. Don’t get me wrong, I agree with the premise that most money funnels through Everfall and Windsward and whoever owns those is definitely going to be far ahead of other companies in the server due to that. But I think fixing the money issue is missing a pertinent point of asking “Why does most money funnel through here?”

I think thats the real issue that needs to be addressed, but due to what I perceive the cause to be, likely won’t be. I believe this is caused purely by town design, specifically layout. I spend a large portion of my time in Windsward specifically because of the ease of accessing everything I need. I believe it has one of the cleanest layouts in the game. In some towns, stuff is spread out, up flights of stairs, difficult to navigate to, etc. I feel like if the towns got a reorg that made stations more accessible and centralized, we’d see a more even distribution in regions and possibly even help distribute the players towards more natural regions (i.e. not having all the endgame players spending significant amounts of time in starter regions).

However, I realize to do something like that is a huge undertaking and would require a lot of work and staff to accomplish. So I don’t expect to ever see it. But while I welcome the new changes, I think they’re not addressing the “Why” of the problem they’re attempting to fix.

I agree that it is Town Layout. Windsward has the best layout of all towns with easy reach to all crafting stations, 3 storage places and you can collect water and even fish there.

Weavers Fen, Restless Shore and Reekwater is probably the worst town designs. Going up and down with annoying stairs. No thanks, I don’t want to spend time running around in these labyrinths.

AGS can try to analyze data and numbers, instead of actually visiting the towns like a player.
