Tbh, I like the full wipe idea.
What about a rollback
?
that is full loot
what you described there
I would allow to loot:
- weapons and let the weapon tear related crafting skill be able to salvage out the perks on the weapon that should be sellable - in that case you just need the raw mats and be able to buying up your perks or salvaging them out from other player’s loot if you lost your weapon.
- raw and refined crafting materials
- consumables as potions and foods
- jewelleries
I would not allow to loot:
- armour
- bags
- azoth
- and any item below tier 2
tbh, I would even allow to loot gold and repair parts with azoth(just allow to leave it in storage), but… I’m really doubting about looting any items(like weapons, armour, bags, tools) and anything equiped, since imagine you’ve been farming monsters and you dropped good item… you would start to hate this game if someone would steal your pants that you’ve been farming for several hours…
You may have HUGE MMORPG experience, but the talent that sits in the rooms that wrote this game has so much more than you. There are probably 100s of thousands of hours of experience and perspective in the rooms that direct, design and develop this game.
You are also looking at it from YOUR perspective, not their perspective. Your agenda may not be the same as their agenda.
And to think you start out with opinion and state it as fact. With your vast experience and know all about MMOs, I am surprised that you forgot that there is always a wave of players that rush to end game. That is never 100% of the player base and is generally a very small subset of the player base. It just happens to be the loudest, whiniest, and entitled bunch. The majority of players (active or not) are not 60.
Sorry . . . you are not special and have figured out the solution that they can’t.
Why should I be punished for NOT exploiting, NOT duping, etc?
Are you going to wipe out all the time I played and make me do it again? That is throwing out the baby with the bath water argument.
I did read it and don’t see a source for your claim that most of the resources are duped.
How did you find the total number of all resources in the game?
How did you find out which are duped?
Please share these numbers.
I can guarantee, that most of gold is 100% duped. From my experience playing NW I can say that most of players that do not focus on getting gold won’t get >50k even in a week. People, who focus on getting gold can get ~50k/day, but that’s still nothing compared to a 400k gold dupe that can be done in ~1 minute. I have read multiple discussions and I also sit in Russian NW discord. From there I know that on average guild makes up to 500k/day on an active server with decent to high taxes.
From there I also know that some people were laughing from selling >10kk gold for real money(yep rmt). Even though they’ve got banned, they still earned A LOT in basically no time. Some of them also discussed that it is easier to sell to others resources than gold and even gave some screenshots(which were deleted later) about some trades, where they sold thousands of last tier resources.
Well, I made no argument.
I only said that I like this option.
Accept that my opinion can be different than yours.
I’ll give the OP points for creativity. His post is a really long-winded way of trying to force everyone to be flagged for PvP.
That said, I do support optional full-PvP servers.
Well, I have many alternative ideas, like aggresive PvE content, where monsters could raid cities and so on… The main point is that they already have content, but the way they use it is awful…
I have seen many games, which didn’t really had anything to show, but the were smart using what they had.
New World is doing opposite. They have whole 60 lvls, flexible items based on their gearscore. Already 5 tiers of items. Tbh I would say that in right hands that would be A LOT. They even have multiple dungeons and much more, like corruption, wars for cities forts e.t.c.
When you actually start to look at what they have you get curious in content, but once you actually start to do it, then you find out that the content is not optimized. Soo many different flowers, but most are useless… So many different alternatives to get equipment, but you don’t need any… just rush to 60 and craft top gear…
They simply got incorrect at the moment, when they were faking content that they don’t have. They don’t have interesting quests. They don’t have a lot of hours of gameplay. They don’t have variability(3 skills is nothing and there’s totally no balance), but they have graphics and content and… they simply don’t use it!
I’m fine if they will wipe servers only AND ONLY if they will make the game much harder than it is now, since rn it feels like the game was made for casuals to play it for ~week and that’s it…
Open PvP is just one of the possibilities to make game harder, but in reality there’re much more different variants that can suit most of players. Even simple resource requirement for repairing items and chance to break the item on repair already adds a bit of hardcore, but in the same time it helps to fix the economy by creating resource outcome, which currently doesn’t exist.
I could give here hundreds of ideas, but I’m not paid for that and I don’t think they gonna hire me for this, so I gonna finish here.
“Modern” MMOs - those that follow the paradigm of single-player PvE until cap, when either PvP and/or multi-player PvE become the game - are notoriously easy during the single-player PvE portion. I can’t think of a single one I’ve played in the last decade that wasn’t brain-dead easy… DCUO, SWTOR, Wildstar, NW.
IMO, the solution is to put the MM back into MMO. It makes no sense to me to have thousands of people logged into the same game, playing single-player alongside one another. All PvE content should be group content.
OTOH, MMOs that do this tend to not do well. DDO is a great example. At least when it was launched, and for many years afterwards, all content was group content. And it created a vibrant PUG-ing community. But it never got huge, and I think a big reason for that was that people got roflstomped after the first starter quest, realized they would have to group to succeed, and logged off forever. Just a guess, though.
So if we wipe the server, you want people to catch up to where they were but at an even slower rate? Makes sense, that’ll definitely make people come back and play
You are confusing opinion with fact. The argument that you are making has been made throughout history. Society, in all countries, has found your ‘opinion’ to be factually incorrect as well as reprehensible. Don’t think so? Here, let me give you an analogy. I live in a city. Someone, four blocks from where I lived, went and robbed a bank. Should the whole city be leveled because someone stole from a bank? That is YOUR argument. You know, the one YOU like as an option. Nowhere in the world has this ever been a solution.
Again, you do not penalize people for actions that they didn’t do and that a small subset of the population has done.
I do not think there is a good answer since they have not figured out how to stop the duplicating and cheating. It has been going on since alpha and seems to continue on.
No, I didn’t made any argument. I said that I like the idea (period).
Now, if you don’t like my opinion, you have the right to disagree. Feel free, then.
We are talking about a game, if you want to have a analogy with real world cases, then you are just being stupid, sorry. And even if I liked your analogy, its simple: I can have this opinion, no matter if the whole country disagree. That’s it, you can cry about it, call your mom and tell her that you disagree with me, but that’s all you can do. I don’t know where you live in, but it sounds like that you don’t like people who disagrees with you.
All the hard core dupers and HACKERS will go to those servers and out match the Dev’s “seems not hard to do” and find a way to destroy those servers. You can bet on that.
You and like millions of other people playing these games. That experience is worthless in the grand scheme.
You win the internet! Woo HOO!
Your opinion is the correct one because over 8 billion people think it is wrong.
You are confusing facts with opinions. You are also confusing subjective issues with quantifiable issues. You can have an opinion if the art is pretty. You can’t have an opinion that states that the ocean is orange.
The users will ever accept punishing all because of the actions of a few as a viable solution. A user may . . . and that is you. However, considering that this game is IN THE REAL WORLD. It has employees, it has investors, it has real world consequences. No matter what you want, it doesn’t matter. If AGS were to wipe and lose 90% of the customer base, what do you think would/could happen? Come on . . . think in the real world now . . .
How much did they invest in the game? How much did they forecast that they would gain from the game? Want to bet the shareholders, if this was significant enough, might have a say about it . . . perhaps in Delaware specifically?
So again . . . your point is a non-starter in the real world. It will not happen. It would create so many negative things today and in the future.
You only get one chance to make a first impression. If they nuke the game. Will I ever come back to this game or any other that they publish? I sincerely doubt it. How they are handling it is fine. What you are not happy with is the speed in which they are handling it.
They fixed bugs.
They banned people.
Is it perfect? Hell no. Is anything ever perfect?
The judge of AGS is how they handle situations. Right now, they are handling them. Of course, I’d live them to not exist and if they do, to be resolved immediately. However, I am wise enough to know that is not reality. The reality, just like the REAL WORLD, the court systems take time. AGS has been pretty darn fast when you look at it objectively. I am not sure you are capable of that though.
It is much to read. What I will say is I think they could in the future after they have shored up their design and identity open up special experiences like you mentioned. Until then, it is launched and I do not feel wiping is a good idea. I have worked way too hard without cheats, exploits, and what not to get my tradeskills to where they are and I am only mid level nearing high level soon. While everyone else was rushing the game and its content, I have been casually plugging along. I have yet to experience dungeons, wars, outpost rushes, invasions, any real significant pvp, or even buy a house for that matter. Currently, I just bought a new bag and am now broke, so housing may take me even longer, but I am hoping the investment in the bag will actually help me start getting some of those uncommon (Extremely rare bag enchancements if you have no luck) items so I can make my own bags. That is of course, once I get 1000 more coin.
So what if a bunch of folks got rich and do not need to play the game anymore, I will still be here plugging away. Chuga Chuga … Chuga Chuga … Toot Toot.
