The only thing missing from the roadmap (Ref to next-gen competitor game inside)

Please read till the end, next-gen multi platform competitor game info included below!

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY, THIS POST IS NOT ASKING FOR MORE ABILITIES.

The 2023 roadmap contents announced so far include some of the most requested features and looks awesome, however, PLEASE:

Let PvPers have 2 weapons, 6 abilities when PvP is enabled and let us have ONE weapon only with 6 skills when not flagged / inside of an OPR battleground/War/arena.
@Developer

The only overhaul / change / addition remaining that is absolutely needed for New World’s PVE future is to make combat feel like a proper RPG experience by providing players with a complete combat kit based on a well known fantasy.

The simplest way to do that is by letting us have all 6 abilities come from a single weapon instead of two IN PVE ONLY. This is an absolute must-have for the RPG PVE experience in an MMO world.

Below is an example of the archer complete kit:

Adding below what might look like unrelated info, but I think this is very important as there is a relationship to what is shown in the videos below in terms of combat design of this new currently in closed beta game described below from an insider communication posted publicly regarding the current China vs Blizzard drama.

Start Quote:
(Demo video links below) Not a clone, the devs working on it were at some point working for blizzard and have knowledge of the inner workings of the engine. they are the same exact devs / voice actors blizz hired to create a mobile wow version which they ended up developing for this PC/Mobile game instead and canceled the wow one.

10 abilities per class, multiple specs, 2 buffs, 2 long cooldowns, 4 short CD’s plus 3 potions, 2 mounts (land/flying) as well as 2 temp combat pet summon spells for the hunter class / 2 unique ultimates for other classes.

This is a political / money / control / drama issue of china vs blizzard/usa rather than the usual suspect of copy/clone…etc

This game will likely not be allowed in the US or the west by the lobbies controlled by blizz’s overlord’s folks who fooled us all saying he quit and played a game with his friend at microsoft so the shares would go up, and the way the game ends is as agreed on, MS does not end up buying blizz and the boss stays, nothing changes.

Seems to have a much more varied questing system than classic wow and does not seem to be what others have claimed, it does not feel like a clone, but actually unique in combat system and story and only happens to share some of the well known mob types, races and classes found in many games besides the choice of graphics look and feel which is also shared by some of non-blizzard games like Riot’s.

Part one only covers the mobile version which uses a completely different controls UI

A quick reference to this closed beta game’s combat system using the archer class:

Screenshots below are from the PC version - mobile UI completely different.

Top abilities: 2 pet summon ultimates
1st bar: 2 buffs, 3 potions, 2 mounts (land/flying)
2nd bar: 4 short CD’s, 2 long cooldowns
3 specs.

I do not believe that one weapon in PvE is the move. Not really looking to debate but just a difference in opinion.

No, the further NW is from chinese or korean MMOs, the better

Especially if there’s a mobile version. No, gtfo, not buying

That is not a Chinese mmo. Riot’s next mmo is built in China and is owned by China too…does not mean the devs or managers are all Chinese…the labor is.

The same team also developed Diablo Immoral.

The game mentioned in the OP was at some point Blizzard’s own. The point is to show its combat system as an example.

The mobile version is completely separate, but cross play is possible in non-competitive content.

New world dont more abilitys to use we have 6 at moment, unles you wana be perma stun more in pvp or have no chanse to kill healer becose he have 6 healing abilitys ;D even pve will become boring becose of consta stunn lock mobs ;D do not try make neworld like wow

Not asking for more abilities, please read carefully. 6 abilities in both cases, except in PVE, they would all come from one weapon.

This is the ONLY way with the current systems to add an RPG element to combat in PVE…

As for the PvP combat players currently hate/love so much, there would be no change. You will still continue to have your OP 2 weapon system where you can pick only the CC abilities from two weapons and destroy newbs and make them quit within minutes of trying the game like what happened with all the big name pure PvPer Twitch streamers who tried it. Watching them struggle to time when to switch back and forth between weapons was a painful experience to say the least. When I personally tried it in PvP, I couldn’t stand it at all.

I would not want this.
I like the current system and a change between PvE and PvP in this manner would most certainly hurt this game.
If you want a “proper RPG experience” go play a “proper RPG” and not New World. I like the combat style as it currently is. It may need a few tweaks here and there and some nerfs/buffs to certain weapons, but changing the amount of available Skills and/or Weapons would in my eyes not help anyone or the game.
Have fun with your next-gen competitor game, but I will stay at New World.

Guess what…the devs agree with this 100% and have publicly said so in the dev update video below.

It is only a matter of time now until we see combat being developed separately for PVE and PVP.

If you like PvP the way it is, it will STAY the way it currently is, IE. super OP and letting you pick and choose only CC abilities from two weapons…

Since you are a toxic PVPer who wants to stick to the current 2-weapon OP combat in PvP, you have no need to cry about PVE having a proper RPG experience by letting us specilize in a single weapon and giving us ALL current 6 abilities from a single weapon instead of two…

…and it is not for you to decide NW is not an RPG. It is in the name of the genre to which it belongs, it’s just that NW devs have prioritized PVP first because it lends itself to being a sandbox easily allowing them to release early and that was smart of them to do so during launch, sell as many copies THEN shift to RPG/PVE focused content.

you clearly didnt understand what im talking about. i have already watched that video last week and no they are not saying what you think they say.
they talked about the question but they answered it with “we already have that and are going to explore what we already have” and they are talking about the PvP only stats like squirming vines or shirking heal (or how its called) and they were talking about the Ward/Bane stats like Ancient Bane etc. they haven’t talked about splitting skilltrees or weapons.

and i dont need to “decide” what this game is or isnt. they clearly stated it as what it is, and its not a classic rpg. if you want that, play that somewhere else.

Dave clearly said they are working on splitting PVE/PVP combat in a more holistic way.

Why are you asking?

Didn’t you make a post claiming you had a super secret leak and this was confirmed?

What happened to that?

You keep asking for this but I don’t understand why. What is this “RPG experience” you’re talking about? How would having only one weapon offer that to players?

I don’t get “a complete kit based on a well known fantasy.” What does that mean? Why aren’t kits complete with 2 weapons? Most weapons have lousy skills anyway that I wouldn’t want. The synergy between 2 weapons is what makes builds interesting and the game feel fluid and dynamic.

You seem insistent that this is the only way New World will keep players going forward, but your reasoning is always only vague and suggestive. What are the tangible benefits of this?

Incorporating a fantasy-based clear identity in the combat system of an MMORPG can help to create a more immersive and engaging experience for players, allowing them to experience the excitement of their chosen role, which is why the genre is known as a ROLE playing game, but in an mmo setting where players can experience living in an alternate world.

I don’t think this explanation alone is enough to make someone who has only played pvp type games fully understand. It takes someone having actually seriously played a real mmorpg to experience it first hand in order to understand the meaning behind it.

nah man, probably is brain had the leak.

you dont get to decide what a “real mmorpg” looks like. everyone has a different vision.

I’d be more worried forThrone and Liberty. That Tencent game will probably never release on the west.

Why the flying fork would any serious PvE player want this shit?
