The problem with tanking and questing

Yeah providing damage for the group and being able to tank at the same time is a burden

The con points to health ratio is bad. A good tank knows when to block and when to attack to restock stamina in that time. I guess youre just standing still and block all the way?

Great job buddy

block generates more threat than attacking, and stam regen is MUCH easier through talents/perks/gear. The only time to drop block is when it will stun you, you have a need to move rapidly(Which can also be done while blocking with the right gear/talent choices), are swapping weapons for taunt/survival, and ina pinch for stamina(but this is extremely rare and to be avoided/a sign of piss poor cooldown management). Not only does black mitigate ALL damage…it is the only time the tank can provide 30% reduction in damage for all the melee or even the entire party if they stack right. The tanks job is personal survivability/increasing damage for the group(via talents and stacking mobs well)/the survival of the group(through talent choices/perks/gear)and aggro management. As it stands you are basically doing one of those things…aggro management…so you are just a DPS with taunt, which might work SOME of the time…but is indeed sub par and eventually won’t cut it as harder content is released.

That is not what I said. I said in order to drop their resistances/defense you need to CC them. I have 250 points into Con but it is a combination of attributes and gear that makes up for adding in strength too. Please don’t twist my words.

I’m playing a full Con build with S&S and War Hammer i have cero issues with dmg, i can pull a whole landmark of mobs and AoE them down with out issue and survive, i just have 50 str points that come from gear and 276 Con at lvl 51. A gruop of players try to gank me? good luck i wont die.

what? where in this thread did you read anything about a group of players trying to gank you? This is about not being able to register enough damage to get credit for kills in the open world when there are 3-20 other people hiting the same mob due to low damage high CON tank builds.

The potential “easy” fix for the low solo damage is a cut conversion gem that scales off CON and is exclusive to the Sword & Shield. That way they could force tanks into having 2 weapons, but also allowing us to solo a bit easier and just swap our weapons. One with carnelian and one with the conversion gem.

Currently only INT and FOC gets conversion gems.

Something needs to be done because even at 200 CON soloing in Shattered mountains and Reekwater, while not hard, its not enjoyable at all as a tank player and other players most defiantly wants more people to stay tank for their own good.

Lol real talk!
Stop complaining and just play! You will find a balance with dmg and tanking.
You don’t need to max con to tank elite mobs or anyone!

Learn to tank properly and you won’t need that much con!
Max con = if u make a lot of mistakes
Balanced con = u cant afford to make mistakes

I run laz and garden with ease on 186 con and a beautiful 200 above dmg.

So continue with suffering and keep that con maxed or take some risks and go low con and enjoy fast phase gaming

The self heals in tanking are percentage based…this means that the synergy with CON is unrivaled when compared to any other stat. Of course you CAN tank with less con…you CAN also tank with high intellect, but it doesn’t make it a good idea. You end up with spillover str at max level but then it doesn’t matter nearly as much due to being max level and not needing to quest nearly as much.

Your advice leads me to believe you either A.) don’t tank or B.) are a sub par tank…either way CON is BiS stat for tanks. period.

Take at least 50 strength that should help a bit

Yo!! Fellow tank here, About the example OP used… the bear, it is bugged. You need to actually walk in to the cave for the quest to update to the next step or you will not get credit. It is common for groups to pull the bear out into the open water for more room, this messes up the quest.

As far as damage, I’m also a 90% CON build (I’m too poor to respec to full CON), I feel my damage is fine. I swap between a GA/Hatchet/Hammer depending on on best available drop. And I do fine.

I am unkillable for the most part, we don’t need to do more damage, that would fubar balance.

I am also a tank. Honestly, you don’t need any points in CON while levelling. Using all heavy is more than enough. I am assuming you are using sword and shield as primary. I only put points in CON for expeditions. The problem is the high re-spec cost but that is another discussion.

I really only have this problem when there is way to many people. But then again other people who are not tank have this problem too.
I just try to stay away from zergs because it’s boring and a waste of time if bosses melt away in a matter of seconds.

Omg you little … You were crying about random low lvl things which u would have learnt eventually… But u keep nagging on how people take credit nonsense… U want dmg and u want to tank and you will not respec haha
If u knew anything about tanking, u wouldn’t be crying here.

One thing’s for sure lol u ain’t gonna tank balls… my advice is try leave the tanking to people with skill and some brains. Don’t ruin other people’s experiences with your nonsense

Use armor with strenth and dex, same with weapons for dammage.
Your hatchet will do just fine with that.

Scrolling up and reading the comments is painful, no one actually reads the post…the advice given ranges from how to do more damage, to how to tank, to how to finish the bear quest…the post is about NONE of these things. It’s about how mob tagging works in the game. It rewards XP and loot based on damage. Which anyone here should know if they were to actually READ THE POST.

none of those things were mentioned by me…ever…anywhere. Perhaps scroll up and actually read the post.
