The rapier and VG nerf didn’t actually do anything

dude I have light armor when Im FS/IG I should be dead in 3 hits but I seem to get away, there are instances that I get caught but thats my fault I did not keep the proper distance in tthe first place and I was unaware of my environment, yes sometimes I get tunnel vision and do not check my flank, but a ranged players that gets stuck in grave well all the time has to rethink how they play.

i still think on .01 second trigger it should return FULL damage back (meaning if you time it right against an enemy heavy hitting you deal back that damage to the enemy as a serious redirect + all the other effects (stun)
.02 to .5 is a normal one. .6+ you only get the negation.

it makes for a skilled weapon where if you properly time it you get actually rewarded.

spam it and you get almost nothing back.

The rapier nerf did too much imho

having ass loads of trouble running in SM trophy runs. the double forts with the 200 mobs wreck me now when before i could reliably chain flurry and riposte to not die.

fml.

How many of those 4+ players did the LS user kill?

none my roll as a healer is to heal not kill, my roll it to keep everyone alive as best I can whats your point?

Rapier makes no sense. 6 months of game so far, rapier has been ussable only one month. it was crap when game launch, they buffed it, it was ussable… now all cooldowns where increased ±150% LIKE WTF?.. uninstalled the game already, but its just dissapointing, every time i come back to the game the only new thing i find is that they nerfed my whole build to the ground.

Nobody said all the time and nobody said ranged either. There are other melee weapons in the game that get screwed by a giant buff to the best melee build. Spear? Yeah no reason to run that when you have a 20 yd aoe root on the tanky dps.

anyways I find it redicolous that a ls user can constantly dodge rapier out and keep his team up without any consequence, yes unfortunately is screwed the other specs but it doesnt man that the other specs are no longer viable, a good musket or archer can still take me down when I do my spear/hatchet build, or even as a healer.

then you nerf rapiers for non dex users. You don’t nerf a weapon because it is annoying only when used in combination with another.

They easily could have made riposte work off of weapon damage and probably made most people complaining happen.

It isn’t unfortunate that bows/muskets got nerfed by rapier getting weaker - it’s bad game design.

Which is absolutely right of course.

So a healer using a rapier to get out of harm’s way seems to bother you. That the healer faces no consequences. It’s not clear to me what consequences someone should suffer for getting out of the way of dying.

The point was that even if the healer used a rapier to get away they certainly wouldn’t be able to kill anyone with it or even a LS. The consequence is that all they can do is run and try to keep everyone else up at the same time.

Perhaps I’m misreading you though?

These devs really have no idea how to balance the game.

Rapier change did a lot. Just a lot of mages started running aditional defensive skill to get back rapier cooldowns again. So it feels like nothing changed, but actually it did.

Void changes 0 impact.

The new light dodge mess up rapier light attack too, I used to be able to light dodge then light attack.
Now it slide you off the mark

The healer class is already OP without the rapier, as the devs said in the patch notes the rapier was not intended to be used souly for defensive reasons or a get away free card. And I do agree with the Dex users that AGS shouldve made a penalty on LS users instead of screwing the ones that used it for what it was for as a secondary dps weapon for dex players.

right, because there was no change to scream. You are rooted for the same amount of time. The cooldown is 10s longer which is way more impactful in small scale pvp. But as far as that scream landing on you, it’s the exact same effect.

In other words - people were so giddy for a vg nerf they didnt bother examining them or testing them. So next patch people will complain for additional nerfs to be stacked on and we will get a scream that is weak enough to warrant 15 seconds, but is 25 seconds.

Or you play opr once and realize half the people running vg went great axe/wh because that is a superior option with more impact that can now throw a root 20 yards.

VG is not special any more. If you have a problem with roots, they can all be addressed together and VG can get compensated since AGS designed the weapon entirely around farming scream and oblivion cooldowns.

I play a ton of bow rapier.

The rapier nerfs killed my dueling ability but I can run and escape just as easy as ever. You are right, it became a weaker weapon overall.

My mage friend switched from VG IG to FS IG and seems to be just as powerful as ever. At least im not stuck in roots 24/7… shrug
