The reason there are so few players

After coming back to the game after a 2 month hiatus, I think the weapon balance is totally messed up, especially in arenas, and the majority of players seem to just run around GC doing PvP quests but avoid PvPing. The game is so bad now. Additionally, after seeing the current state of the game, I assume it’s going to get shut down soon-ish, which makes me want to play it even less.

I think it’s unlikely to shut down. But AGS and NW’s studio does seem to be in a Limbo right now and NW seems to be in Life Support already. From what I heard in Lost Ark, it seems they even pulled NW’s support to Ark.

Do you think New World is actually making any money? lol

Average players dropped from 21k to 16k during a major patch release. I don’t see what AGS could possibly do at this point besides going free to play to attract more players. Maybe they made enough money that they don’t mind polishing the game, but at some point it will be a business decision to keep going or not. The game will probably have <10k average players with a few, if any, active servers per region in the next few months. I think they will hold out for the desert expansion to come out, but I wouldn’t be surprised at that point they merge the remaining servers and stop actively developing the game.

I wonder the same thing. What’s their population limit where all resources are pulled? It’s obvious that they are resource constricted. A group of people trying to stitch together a jumbled mess like a small indie company that didn’t expect the buzz.

I’m not saying these people suck, I’m just saying. It was fact that Mike Frazzini under staffed projects and put deadlines on projects making everything a rush job because he’s a businessman, not a developer.

CyberPunk could’ve been great too, but it was also understaffed and pushed to release too soon.

Rushed titles are the difference between the Witcher 3 that was a blockbuster for years and still sells to this day and CyberPunk that flopped harder than No Man’s sky. They even refunded purchasers!

Of course, after polishing and given the TLC it should have gotten before release, it turned out to be a much better game but a flop is still a flop.

Maybe CyberPunk and New World will stop these businessmen from rushing developers to do too much work in too little time. Give them breathing space and let them do their damn job. Develope.

With graphics and mechanics sky rocketing in complexity, it makes sense that games take longer to develope.

Business has yet to understand this and is destroying so many potentially amazing games 1 by 1.

Obvious not. And it seems they even gave up monetizing the game how they thought. Cuz they could easily offer those ‘Exp’ boosters and Crafting boosters, and Crafting Perk boosters.

I guess this was always an experiment of Amazon to get into the gaming industry and to gain even more popularity.

I thought that too before, so I googled. And it seems AGS is developing another Game. Another Steam competitor called Vapor (very stupid) and a while back it was announced they were working on another game Engine (forgot name)

I think AGS got their large success with Lost Ark. So they don’t really have to cancel NW. They probably just keep it on life support as they learn more things and get other teams for other things. To do more experiments until something works.

But rather than a new project, finding a way to Save NW will probably be more profitable for them. However, they REALLY NEED to bring knowledgeable people. Clearly the current team has reached its limit. They can’t seem to do more. I think even they don’t believe they can do it.

I confirm the consensus. The group i started with, actually told me to play the game and now they dont anymore, all because of expertise.

After getting annoyed about opening chests towards the end of leveling to 60 only to find out they needed to open more chests after 60 to make their gear useful was a no-go zone.

The very first point that caused friction was finding out they needed 200 stone cutting to grind keys to do dungeons…

I went straight into chopping stones where my group slowly started to fade away.

Needless to say chest runs for me are a thing of the past…but now pvp track and GC quests.

Fml give it a rest now.

Unfortunately the entire games PVE element is based around RNG and probably on the same system.

Everytime you push e and see the spinning circle is you pulling the lever on the RNG slot machine.

From skinning to chests to crafting.

Its the same, “what will i be getting” gambling level of dopamine release.

This game still needed at least 18 months work at launch just to give it the barebones of a semi decent MMO, but there is a really good game concept under all this spaghetti.

It was pushed out the door far to early by management who clearly didn’t know what they were doing, hence the head clown having to walk. Whoever is advising them on the grind mechanics, please stop listening to them! Its slowly driving the remaining people away.

Its Saturday and only roughly 12000 people playing according to Steam. 2 months ago it was 20000+.

Your strategy of relentless grind clearly isn’t working!!!

I dont have fun anymore, could only stand about 30 mins today before saying sod it, will play abit of Skyrim, more fun.

Very very Sad.

Nepotism on full display.

Almost all or us claim about reduce t’he useless perks crafting making RNG not nearly imposible. Remover expertice . ADD more open world content. Remover factions ,adding clan wars/alliances. Stop t’he carebear features and start making a more fredom Game, dangerous world because this Game demands It. Stop instancing all PvE and PvP content. Start to ADD more history Telling with cinemátics explaining Lore.

I think the real reasons for that few players are :

  • Abusive randomness of gears, so much that even that you are able to loot an heavy chest with STR and FOC with a rapier perk, and gathering speed. Nobody wants that sh*t. And don’t lie, this is 98% of our drops.

  • Lack of content. We need a better lore, more immersion, legendary hunts with unique loot ( gears, cosmetics, housing, etc ) ‘legendary’ quests after the lvl 20 mastering a weapon. Some stuff like that.

This is only my opinion but, after talking with a lot of players on different servers, i think it’s the problems

Legendary hunts is rafflebones and for some reason they nerfed his spawn rate…?

Going by the lacklustre Easter event, I suspect alot of devs have been moved off NW. Real content is taking to long or simply on the back burner. The zone they plan to release later this year best be good. If its more of the same… goodbye players.

Time will tell.

I spent 1hr + looking for him travelling to a handfull of locations and never bothered with him ever again…

Disappointing.

I think they nerfed it because some people are camping his spawn locations and making profit off the sellable items.

And… Isn’t that how games work? You do work, you make money…?

Apparently AGS thinks otherwise.

Clearly dont want people consuming content too fast so they make it harder

Wouldn’t want people making 1m too fast. They’ll buy all their BiS in 3 months.
