This game still needed at least 18 months work at launch just to give it the barebones of a semi decent MMO, but there is a really good game concept under all this spaghetti.
It was pushed out the door far to early by management who clearly didn’t know what they were doing, hence the head clown having to walk. Whoever is advising them on the grind mechanics, please stop listening to them! Its slowly driving the remaining people away.
Its Saturday and only roughly 12000 people playing according to Steam. 2 months ago it was 20000+.
Your strategy of relentless grind clearly isn’t working!!!
I dont have fun anymore, could only stand about 30 mins today before saying sod it, will play abit of Skyrim, more fun.
Almost all or us claim about reduce t’he useless perks crafting making RNG not nearly imposible. Remover expertice . ADD more open world content. Remover factions ,adding clan wars/alliances. Stop t’he carebear features and start making a more fredom Game, dangerous world because this Game demands It. Stop instancing all PvE and PvP content. Start to ADD more history Telling with cinemátics explaining Lore.
I think the real reasons for that few players are :
Abusive randomness of gears, so much that even that you are able to loot an heavy chest with STR and FOC with a rapier perk, and gathering speed. Nobody wants that sh*t. And don’t lie, this is 98% of our drops.
Lack of content. We need a better lore, more immersion, legendary hunts with unique loot ( gears, cosmetics, housing, etc ) ‘legendary’ quests after the lvl 20 mastering a weapon. Some stuff like that.
This is only my opinion but, after talking with a lot of players on different servers, i think it’s the problems
Going by the lacklustre Easter event, I suspect alot of devs have been moved off NW. Real content is taking to long or simply on the back burner. The zone they plan to release later this year best be good. If its more of the same… goodbye players.
If you really like the pvp in the game, I don’t get why you wouldn’t just spend a few weeks running dungeons to get your expertise up. It could be a game you play for years, but you can’t spend a few weeks running dungeons?. It’s not like it really takes that long. There are plenty of things I don’t enjoy about games that I do to further my progression in it. I honestly don’t get the hang up. I got bored of running regular laz/gen when I was leveling up, but now that I’m 600, I don’t have to do it. I have t run a non-mutated laz/gen for months now. Maybe you don’t like the pvp that much which is fair. But if you really like it, why throwaway what could be long term pvp cause you can’t run dungeons fir a few weeks?
@Hoolagun I can imagine that being the case. Since most of us PvPers don’t really play New World anymore. Since there is nothing for us PvPers in this game. Just PvE gear based make believe PvP battles.(Player vs Gear battles)
Yes, to much about PVP combat is based on Perks. They need to rethink, I doubt they will though.
I can see game ending up as a free to play footnote, with excessive grind.
I have lost faith that this game will be more about playing and less about endless grinds, but grind fest seems to be the only thing they want to design. Truth be told is anyone really surprised?
Root cause of all this is game launched far to early with little or no end game content of any substance. They will never be able to correct that.
I like to keep things simple, its boring. Grind or no grind if its boring it doesn’t matter how long you play for. This game is “fun” in the start but quickly erodes to boredom, both in PvE and PvP. Needs content that spurs the people to play and establish a community that attracts longevity. Everything hinges on the new zone expansion, and if that fails…
