The Reason you *Don't* Want Fresh Servers

I’m a bit biased I guess because I played on launch and almost completely solo (my friends were on a queued server and I bought the lie that if I started on a low pop I’d get an quick transfer).

So to me leveling is a mostly solo experience, non-fresh start servers make that much easier with T5 stations everywhere, and there’s still tons of chest runs and reg dungeons going on, at least on my server.

The reasoning you give will be 10x worse on fresh servers. I think on Orofena every single station on the map is T5, so its weird that you encountered this recently.

Also, I can’t check the merchant right now but you could literally farm motes, linen, rawhide, and iron and the inflated price on an “old” server will get you bags really fast. On a new server it would be the opposite.

Your post gives two perfect examples though. Two things you think would be better but would actually be ten times worse on a fresh start.

They stated that in a few weeks they will share some more news about fresh servers which doesn’t mean they will release it like any time soon like in ocotber. My best bet they will rework territory control and leveling 1-60 (only partial atm) and some other tweaks. As statistics showed most players did left before hiting level 60, but I doubt people left because of leveling. In this game leveling is easy is it boring yes, does any other mmo do a better job in that department no. This game gets more attention because of possibilities of fresh servers, some come for new area but as fast as they come back, can easily goes away, which just proves that without any fresh servers playerbase will plumet even further down the line. Which AGS is well aware of.

But I think we can all agree who wants to have new fresh servers all want AGS does this right (second chance). Will there be bots yes is there any mmo which doesn’t have bots no. Will ppl abuse economic mechanic yes but atleast there won’t be legal abusing mechanics.

The number of people who would come back for fresh start doesn’t matter in this regard. I don’t care if the number is 400 million. I’m making the point that those 98% of those 400 million would have a better time joining a current server than on a fresh start one.

Back in the WoW days, one of the top pieces of advise for new players was to join an old, high pop server. People are more willing to help and so much already being established means you don’t have to spend the time forming guilds and all that. Just hop in and play.

Oh I’ll stay, but the effort I’m putting in is pointing out the absurdity.

Another wretch who thinks he knows what people want or don’t want. I’m really starting to wonder what your problem is. What you’re saying is nonsense. Are you satisfied where you are? Great, you can stay there.

Why do you think so much about this issue when you are not the addressee of the request? Sit back and think about the issues in your life that are really bothering you and take a deep breath. It will pass, believe me.

I don’t know how else to answer this question. An unfortunate response to an unfortunate topic.

“Catching up” can be defined in two ways.

  1. Reaching 625 GS with 2 perks on each item

  2. Having as good as or better gear than everyone.

I’m referring to the first, you’re referring to the second. In both scenarios, you’re better off playing on an old server. If you can’t finish or “catch up” on a 5k race, then why beg for a 10k?

And I’m a casual, so I’m actually looking forward to every tryhard mega-company on my server rolling alts on fresh-start.

A few people duping things 9 months ago has little to no affect on the game. Besides, someone could be duping right now and just not telling anyone. Fresh start servers could have dupes. A handful of people having infinite gold but not doing anything with it hardly affects the game.

This is where I’m hoping my racing analogy would help. There is currently a cap, or finish line, with how “end game” you can be. You can log on right now and catch up. Having 5k Asmodeum in your stash doesn’t make much difference. 625 and 2 perk and you’re done, period. But your argument is:

“People who can run a lot faster than me are already standing at the finish line, and the game would be more fun if we started a new race where, unlike last time, I’ll be the one to the finish line first.”

It just seems so nonsensical, right?

Your sunken cost fallacy suffering doesn’t transfer to anyone except for other hard stuck elitists to be fair. Plenty of people have been waiting for fresh start servers since the dupes happened 9 months ago, your sunken cost on your main character won’t change it, at all.

Im a day one player with over 700 hours logged into new world, i have been on a 7 month break, and literally care 0 percent for the character i’ve built so far.

The only thing that would even remotely compare to the initial starting months would be a fresh start server, and this time with dupes and dmg bugs removed, we won’t see much exploitation of the fresh economies. Saying starting fresh on a server with companies with majority maxed out player rosters compares anything to launch months is both intellectually dishonest, and just stupid.

That’s definitely an opinion. Mine is different. It’s not even dupe-specific, but there were all kinds of exploits that people have used throughout the last year to get territories(and keep them) leading to groups of people gaining lots of gold that they never would have had. Things like that do still effect the game because a lot of those that benefitted do still play. They may have even helped a lot of other players who are unaware(or are) that they’ve just been benefitting off of someone else’s exploitation.

But that’s just one part of it really. The other part are the “legal dupes” or territory ownership. The gap is huge in this game for a new player. Why would a new player want to start somewhere that’s already dominated by some group of people with millions of gold, BiS, and like 500 wars under their belt?

Lets compare two Companies, A and B.

Company A has 100 active members, all 625 GS 2 perk slots pvp gear.

Company B has the same, but also 200 million gold stashed from bugs, dupes, territory ownership, whatever.

While its obviously an advantage, its not that much of one. Additionally, the effort Company A would have to go through to start all over again would probably be more of a hassle than just playing at a slight gear disadvantage, or farming on their current characters to close that gap.

Also I think this is a very rare case not worthy of obsessing over.

Wrong, thanks for your opinion.

that is what RMT are trying to tell you to stay on the old servers and eventually you will be their client. If you aren’t in a controling territory company (WW, EF) sadly I can only tell you you are brainwashed. RMT woouldn’t exist if there wasn’t demand. Demand and suply basic economics. Why do you think old servers are better then fresh that until recently they plumet on playerbase so high it could be totaly diffrent story if they didn’t introduce new areas, weapon, etc. If you look from investor perspective would you rather invest your money in a fresh servers which has a potential of 900k playerbase (just players who already played the game can come back, obvious not all) or existing players who just got a litlle spike (corection) in playerbase until further plumet. Best bet is fresh server it has higher potential. But I understand why existing players advocate old servers because we all know they will die eventually. Sad but truth.

I’m speaking from the perspective of an individual man lol.

Another weird argument that actually works opposite of the way you think it does. Again, think of it as a race.

Currently the population of an old server is scattered everywhere, with many already at the finish line.

On a fresh server, everyone starts at the start.

People use RMT to gain progress.

How could you ever rationalize that having more people needing to progress would cause a decrease in RMT? If anything RMT would explode with fresh start servers.

I used to craft for a large company back in the early days, and I’d have people put in 50k gold worth of craft orders every 2-3 days. These 4 guys only played three or four hours a night, wars and OPR.

I’m 90% sure they were using bots, not exploits, but I feel you there. But anyway, I’d rather compete with that in my current situation than start fresh, just to end up facing someone who used bots to get free gear again.

As a fresh start how RMT can be established? They will fix territory control (no money gains), they fixed most dupes. Can new occure probably. So RMT will be only those bots who mine iron ores. Is this game changer for the rest playerbase not even close. More competitive ores like orichalcum it is easy to train mobs at bots even if players. Have I done it many times that is what I called comeptitive player. I no need to buy RMT service nor will I ever do so I don’t advocate servers which provides those services. I was in a guild which abused this they accumaled money they can provide this services for a few years and you saying this doesn’t have inpact on the game. Just lol cluless.

EDIT: just so we are fair acumulated money via legal economic mechanics (WW, EF control)

So you’re argument is that, while demand for RMT will skyrocket, AGS will magically fix everything so there will be little to no supply, despite it being a year and bots are still easy to find.

You can point the finger at territory control, dupes, or whatever else, but the simple fact is a handful of bots can make half a million a week easy. And with a massive demand we know they will.

who said RMT will skyrocet on a new server it won’t exist at all (read my post), atleast at start and they will harder gain RMT services if dupes and territory control will be fixed. Which means healthy playerbase more equal geared based players, from every pvp players perspective, where it shows who is skilled and who is pleb. The game won’t be called New World like old servers but Dream World for new fresh servers.
