Thank you @RandManly for not making this a rant post. I was dreading from the title it would be. This should be an interesting discussion.
For me, one biggest issue? Hmm… that’s tough. I don’t think there’s any big issue otherwise I wouldn’t be enjoying it as much as I do. There are plenty of little issues that would make it even more enjoyable for me.
But you asked for a big issue, so I’m going to try to pick one. Okay, got it…
My biggest issue is that the crafting stations don’t search all sheds. I do a lot of harvesting and crafting, and I tend to store my stuff across multiple sheds. Which means after I’ve crafted enough with one shed, I go and grab everything from the next one and craft all that. It’s not possible to carry it all at once. If the crafting stations could simply look across my entire inventory it would be wunderbar!
I was going to say cheaters and exploiters, but honestly now having given the devs months to prove themselves, I’m going to have to go with corruption in AGS.
They just unlisted a topic showing proof of a repeatedly-unbanned player again violating TOS.
How does anyone even get unbanned multiple times when commonly players can’t even get an answer from the moderation team why they were banned in the first place? (Just do a search for “ban information”).
Meanwhile these players are continuing to cheat and ruin servers. #2 problem with New World is cheaters and exploiters. #1 problem AGS inaction that is tantamount to self-sabotage
IMO the duration of the iFrame is just too long. The duration could be reduced by 15%. Successfully iFraming an attack right now seems to be 95% successful and that percentage should be lower BUT only slightly lower. There should still be that skill and outplay aspect of baiting out your opponents rolls which feels GREAT.
iframes should be reliable but right now they are slightly too reliable.
Single biggest issue 100% is the laughable rng on crafting and drops, which in turn, messes the whole economy with 500k+ for any decent bis item. In my opinion, crafting rng from crafting/rolls needs to be Significantly improved until BIS items are around 150-170k tops.
So yes, i dont think the rng improvement with the upcoming patch is enough, as i predict BIS items will still be around 400-450k after update (vs the needed 150k range.
There always seems to be a bias towards PvP in the game and the PvE players get the rough deal every time.
Knee jerk reactions to complaints from the PvP side of the game, these are the people who can rob PvE players blind with taxation, Housing rent, Trading post fees etc. Disrupt the ability to craft in towns due to crafting stations being downgraded because the PvP players are playing their own sub game that the PvE players are not interested in.
Weapons getting nerfed for what reason? Not because of PvE and how the weapons perform in Tempest, Lazarus, Genesis etc but because of PvP players complaining how the weapons perform in their sub game.
OPR is supposed to be an event that all can join but is so biased towards PvP players. This is due to the time they spend upgrading gear giving them an unfair advantage over PvE players who have to have a second set of gear to realistically compete in the events. Why not make OPR standard gear where everyone gets the same gear dependant on what class they are playing, the same for everyone where skill counts not just having the best gear.
Adjust the game to be fair for both PvE & PvP and not just favour one type of gameplay.
It shouldn’t be like that at all. If I hit, I hit. If I miss, I miss. But today it’s more like a circus with invincible rolling dudes all over. You have to dodge attacks, not become invisible to them. It’s very doable with light and medium armor, and with heavy it could be, say, damage reduction if hit while dodging.
It’s a hard one, there are 2 that stand out. The faction system and shell companies would be the issue for more competitive players. My biggest issue is SERVERS and how players are split up so much. 2k is so little
2 perks means you can play any pvp mode you want and win vs people having bis items if you are good enought. Ofc having 3 good perks gives and advenrage but gap is not that big. Against top players you will feel it for sure, but vs average player you wont.
PvP isn’t a sub-game, unless PvE is also a sub-game. They are equally important to the game.
PvE gets MOST of the attention from the devs.
A single GOOD PvE player can drastically impact OPR.
Like most people on these forums, I think you should be doing some self-reflecting to see what you could be doing better first.
Wasn’t a big issue back when melee hit-stun and sprinting existed. New World’s combat was largely ripped straight off of Dark Souls, but then they removed a key aspect of it for the MMO crowd who couldn’t figure out how to stop mashing buttons.
The only reason for the devs putting some time into PvE is the previous total imbalance in the game between PvE and PvP play that they are still failing to sort out. There is the issue where you cannot run through a PvP player in open world like you can with everything else except Turkeys! Try chest runs where 1 PvP player in a doorway stops anyone else from entering or where PvP players can destroy open world bosses in half the time an equally equipped PvE guy can shows there are still issues.
Try going into OPR in 625 GS PvE heavy gear when even your biggest attacks do not take any health off a PvP player in light armour, its laughable. It isn’t about skills either but the total imbalance between gear sets and as SpacemanUA stated “dodgeroll invicibility”. Put everyone in identical class based gear and then see what the difference is when it is all about skill and not about what you are wearing.
That about sums up the PvP guys with the mashing of the dodgeroll button again and again.
It’s not an issue, it’s intentional design. If they’re blocking you, all you have to do is sheath your weapons and you can run through them. Collision was initially inherent to all parts of the game, they only recently (within the last year) removed it for PvE players.
Easy answer: Put away your weapons.
I go into OPR with full 618 Voidbent gear with pearls because I’m too lazy to swap out into a PvP set. It’s not hard and you can EASILY be the most effective player on your team through just PvE.
As for the “Gear-based combat”. I agree. Again though, that’s a by-product of AGS changing the game to accommodate the MMO kids. The game used to be far more skill-based, but skill-based combat and MMO players are like oil and water. Still, you can be entirely effective as a PvE players in OPR, I’m well known for it.
I dedicate the first 10 minutes of OPR to PvE, every match. You should have level 3 command tent, ward tower, and 5-7 kegs planted at Baron, ready to detonate the moment she spawns, as well as 1-2 geist summoning stones for pushing forts after baron.
This will also guarantee max contribution rewards, win or lose. After that, you’re free to do whatever you like in the OPR knowing you helped the team in a tremendous way.
Rapier is the bigger issue, but it would be nice if they gave us back the sprint button which worked as a direct counter to roll spammers. Used less stamina than dodging for a speed boost to catch up to roly-poly players who would exhaust themselves much sooner.
Fleche however just needs to go, that skill neither makes sense nor works for its intended purpose. It doesn’t even look like a Fleche ffs.
Devs not playing their own game. Most of things said here could’ve been solved faster if they played their own game and saw some of the most evident flaws
I think crafting still needs some tweaks to the rng even after the ptr july patch.
Its super expensive to level up profession to 200, find/buy crafting gear and trophies
Then comes the absurd rng for crafting BiS gear.
I would remove the double stats from the game. If player want dex/int he will mix the slots one with dex, one with int for example. No point having double stats items.
Make legendary named crafting mats (Scaling Powder, Emblem of Fortitude and etc.) viable. Probably make them let you choose 2nd perk or the items they craft be really good. They are completely useless right now.
Runestone stopwatch helps increasing the price of the crafting and adds nothing big to the table for that price. Probably make it guaranteed 600. With the current implementation, only shell companies will be abusing it in crafting.
