The Territory Control system is unfair, please consider this proposal that puts the social experience first before competition

The Territory Control system is desperately in need of a major overhaul, with or without PvP servers.

IMO, it should be the faction that controls territory and not a single company.

Multiple companies should rule a faction as part of a council and one person gets to be the elected leader of that faction by the council members representing their companies. All company leaders are automatically made into faction council members.

This would create new opportunities for sandbox content creation and even infighting within the same faction.

This is the missing next generation social aspect that no mmo has yet to manage to make happen.

Money earned should go to the entire faction on the server equally spread to all the faction member players.

Win conditions would change into an Esport-like competition with a ladder and has its own prestigious PvP-specific rewards.

The faction that first wins a certain number of wars in a specific window of time gets to control the territory.

Wars would be ongoing and anyone can join them, just like OPR. However, only one war per territory can happen at any given time.

The faction that manages to throw a territory into contested mode gets to fight the controlling faction.

This would ensure that all players from all companies or solo players not yet part of a company in a certain faction are affected and actively would want to participate in territory control PvP activities.

And to make it even more fair, wars should be equalized and no longer gear dependent.

Changing factions should cost real money and is no longer on cooldown.

Money earned should never go into a players pockets at all. That is completely absurd.

Instead they could make it so territory owners get unique skins they can only equip while holding territory. They dont have to pay any taxes in their own city. Make crafting resources required to craft slightly lowered in their own cities. Etc.

The tax money should never ever go into the players pockets all this does is cause inflation and making all items on the TP more expensive but still not affordable by anyone else than the territory owners.

Sure, that would work too. But I’m more in favor of both monetary and gear/cosmetic rewards depending on ladder based prizes.

I’m all for “The Faction Mindset.” I’ve seen too many instances of a faction getting along great and then a large company decides to switch factions or change servers and there is a sense of “well they didn’t care about the faction at all did they?”

Problem is there is no strong faction identity or lore. Not cosmetically not in any distinguishable way other than a color and a banner plus some other minor things like a church and a pirate ship.

We need stronger identities such as exclusive gear cosmetics and facial features. New building structures and lore…etc specific to each faction. Even if we have to pay for them via the shop.

My thoughts exactly. Those are some great ideas.

Where would you want the money to go to? Players have multiple houses they have to pay for upkeep. Each and every player on the server.

This would be a good incentive for the players to want to go to war so they can get that chunk of money to buy better gear with for non-equalized PvP like in the open world while contesting territories and in OPR. Arena should also get equalized imo.

This would be perfect for people who just want to PvP.

This looks to be getting resolved at least partially with the Brimstone Sands update where you have the different, cool Faction hangouts. They really need to keep building on this since people do not mind being the “underdog” so long as there is something they can be attached to per faction identity. 100%

I really hope so. And you’re right, it does seem to be getting looked into in the next patch.

I think the proposed change from AGS of the revenue from each territory being spread in some fashion among all territories owned by a faction is a good starting point. I would imagine the ultimate solution will be discovered over time as small changes are implemented to see their effect from which they can then make further adjustments.

I still think the AGS short term proposal is unfair to many players, but like you said, it’s a good start nevertheless.

get good and l2p #skillissue

Owning a city is the only way to progress your character with pvp right now, they would have to massively overhaul the current rewards systems. And even with the current system the richest players arnt those that own ww/ef.

huh?? what are u saying lol.

You can progress your character entirely through arena, pvp track and opr right now. Even from lvl 1-60. you can get “bundles of xp” in your pvp track. and money. and gear.

And yes the richest people are the owners of EF/WW right now. EF easily nets 4 million gold per week.

Your character can get starting gear from pvp track/opr crates but thats it. You need more and more specific pieces as you go until the only way to get a useable bis is to buy it, and gold from non city owning pvp sucks.

City own companies may be right but that doesnt translate as directly as you think to the individual level, as someones who company owned 5 territories on a pop cap server. It leads to good gear for the company members but not a lot of cash sitting around. Everyone ive met with over 3million personal gold has gotten it from pve/market not being given it from the ww treasury.

Problem is only a few get to enjoy the benefits.

While I like some of these ideas, I’ve found companies kind of useless.

I have never done a war as I work nights and wars are generally at 6-8pm London time.

Other than controlling territories, companies have no meaning.

They should remove companies and just keep the 3 factions.

Then you should have to work your way up in that faction by doing the missions to be able to start a war to try take over another city. Or have a faction exp total that counts everyone doing the missions all together.

You should be able to swap factions at a cost in game. Maybe 1k gold and a “trater token” from faction shop as an example.

This cleans up the mess of hundred of companies.

How do we determine who is the leader of the city we just took over ? Well simple whoever did the most damage in the war or most kills. This would give incentive to be the best. Or simply no one person owns it. Everyone in the faction owns it.

All money taken by the city should be equally split between everyone in that faction via an automatic payment once per week.

Then how do we determine what to upgrade? first come first serve to the table and you pay the fee yourself. Max 3 upgrades and a player can only do one each time.

If you gave the territory to whoever did the most damage in a war you would have 50 dex/firestaffs in the wars that makes no sense at all

Please see my comment. Explains where the money should go

Well that’s a weapon balancing issue.

I’m all for no owner and no companies.

Factions only.

Split the cash equally once a week to all the players in that faction via automatic payment.

However if they really want to keep a leader then yes most kills or most damage would be good idea.
They would have to include the healers so tally up their heals too.

Also wars should have every one equal and then have faction shop sell decent pvp gear and weapons usable for that war only. So it’s still equal fair for all and makes good use of the faction shop.
