The timegating in the new patch does not make any sense

I don’t think that’s the issue.

Yes, the content is sparse but if orbs were more freely available (not free) we would have more groups available for those that want to run the content in its current state. The artificial scarcity through gating has only caused people to be cautious with orb usage which ultimately means less people doing the content.

However, take a step back and look at this issue. If the concern is players will consume the content and be done with that consumption and stop playing. How is that any different than them not consuming it and stopping?

The latter is what is occurring now. They are hard gated to the point where they can’t play it and therefore are logging off.

some Nintendo games lasted for years of entertainment though.

That said. I think if you enjoyed 50+ hours of a game, it was definitely worthwhile. Its possible some of the people complaining didnt enjoy their 100s of hours though, and got caught in a grind reward sunk cost mind trap.

As far as grind, its about finding the right balance. And the right type of grind

All time-gates should be removed. It already costs like 10k faction tokens to buy the stupid mutated orb, that takes enough time to grind, don’t need another artificial time-gate on top.

If you can craft more Orbs, you can finish more Faction-Quests for the Dungeons = More Tokens for you …

Yeah I agree. I am just saying that the time-gate in the shop should be removed as well as it is already limited by faction tokens. In general time-gates on endgame dungeons (not raids) is a bad idea and a cheap way to limit people from going through content.

I think it´s okay to use Orbs for Dungeons, where you can get BiS Gear, but the Crafting and Buy-CD limitations should be changed.

I gotta disagree with you. Most people don’t like grinding, I can use jobs as an example. There are very few people that enjoy busting themselves for no reason every day, but when I’m getting paid 1.5x or 2.0x pay, it really motivates me. Most people enjoy the rewards gained with grinding, not grinding itself.

New world had become a job that pays nothing, and alters your job every month.

Regardless of how many people do or do not… those who do not like grinding DON’T PLAY MMO’S!

Thats pretty nice that you are trying, even after dozens of posts of This gulch dude, but he has a set opinion, that even if he and the other Britney dude love grinding, all the others have to grind as well, because… yeah, he loves it  and has a stone age perception of MMOs :face_with_hand_over_mouth: there is always a loud minority of people refusing to accept the progress. My grandma also thinks noone needs internet, smartphones and stuff xD

Actually I do, RizenSaga, and many others here and in NW do. But yeah, nice try:ok_hand:t3::smile:
I know whats comin next - we should quit and leave you alone on the server so u can can run your 1001th chest run🤭 of course not the other way around🤭

Nobody NEEDS them.
The fact that she gets along fine without them should be all the proof in the world.

Lazy = not wanting to do annoying, boring shit for hours in order to have one hour of fun.

Hell yes, I’m lazy. And complaining about other people being lazy isn’t going to help with player retention. I don’t understand the point of calling people lazy instead of advocating for fun.

This is a video game.

I only speak the truth. If you can’t handle that then that’s your problem.
Run along now, and remember to have fun!

That wasn’t even my point. You do yourself and the game no favors by having an attitude that makes more players leave every day. If you cared about the game succeeding, instead of feeling superior, you would logically think differently. But, clearly, that’s not your priority. You do you.

You also fail to understand that grinding can actually be fun. Obviously, everyone’s definition of fun is different. But as a veteran player of MMO’S for at least 20 years, I have addictively grinded my ass off in many, many games when it was fun to do so.

Bold claim in time of a global pandemic. Literally 80% of staff in my firm went into remote work (internet!) for a year. Like so many other enterprises. My boss, and my paycheck NEED internet.
You are full of fallacies, many times proven.

P.S.: my grandma does need internet, cause its the only way to actually see me more than once a year. But nice try to male it sound you know my grandma

Lol! Like you are the arbitrator of truth. You’re the biggest fanboy on this forum dude and you are advocating for the time-gates of the orb system, which is universally hated.

Time-gates have nothing to do with grind btw. They are just a system which prevents you to do content for some arbitrary amount of time because the devs cannot seem to implement a proper system for consuming repeatable content.

Um.
Anyone of my haters wanna clue this person in on my views of grinding?
And your resume of 20 years isn’t anything special, there are a lot of us that have been playing video games for over 40 years.

Stop quoting people out of context the problem with New World’s grind isn’t that its a grind but it’s unrewarding, your so depended on RNG, except for Umbra Shards but those are hard timegated.

We’ll just saying … but if they had not spent the last 4 months putting in artificial grind systems for existing content and instead working on new end game content and bugs…. Maybe we wouldn’t be in this situation?

I legit thought that the dungeons were the best part of New World’s design. Fun encounters in cool environments. But the orb system simply just needs to go. The notion of paying for a slot to run the ridiculously tiny amount of PvE end-game content there is right now is just asinine. I’ll definitely consider coming back if I can run what I want, when I want, and it’s rewarding.
