The ultimate list of must-haves for the most lacking areas in NW *Updated*

Combat log

Thanks! Indeed, we all love the game and support AGS. Our only hope is to see it succeed and reach its full potential one day, hopefully sooner than later!

Thanks

Great post!

I appreciate this post and the thread that follows, some great conversation and ideas! I’ll make sure to get it in front of the team!

Thanks very much, @Shadow_Fox !

Brought up a good point but due to how the attributes work, if you go off-meta builds you are either limiting yourself in dmg all around or having to sacrifice con to make up for dmg. Granted there are a lot of builds out there like GA/IG when Grav well and ice shower were OP in War and OPR but chances are extremely low for other weapons such as BB and Bow, they are simply completely different weapons that do not ever complement each other, not to mention if you go an off-meta build you are also putting yourself at a disadvantage if that build doesn’t perform as equally or better than regular Bruiser, Mage, and Range. I think a great change would be to completely change how attributes work and how they scale each weapon. Then this would not only solidify your point but it will allow people to diversify their builds and make something unique out of 432 different combinations of weapons and skills.

Thank you for detailing it clearly and concisely.

On paper, yes you could have so many combinations, but in reality it doesn’t actually work in your favor so nobody actually does it.

We are stuck with all kinds of limitations atm unfortunately when it comes to PVE combat. For example, we generally have one talent tree available for mostly PVE scenarios and one for mostly PvP, then you have the attribute allocation issue that further limits our enjoyment of the combat system in PVE situations.

I think PvP is probably closer to where it needs to be combat wise though, but there is always room for improvement.

This post is amazing! The rumored changes for brimstone are huge and I hope for AGS sake at least half of these changes are in the expansion.

Thanks!

What do you think we will get with the Brimstone update that hasn’t been announced yet as part of the seasonal 2022 roadmap?

I have my personal list of wishes haha, the #1 thing I could see them doing is a larger raid. That feels like the logical next step for them.

But personally I would love to see updated housing, transmog, and a reworked invasion system to name a few.

I suspect they’re adding something to do with raids either instanced or open world. Mounts also likely.

oooo mounts would be amazing but I have a feeling its not yet

Can you put this 1 simple “Must Have” in front of “The Team” too please. We “Must Have” the ability in PvP to determine Hostile & Friendly AOE Spells. IE. Sacred Ground is a Prime Example. We’ve been asking for this since Beta. Please this feels like Deja Voodoo bringing this up yet again. o_0. This 1 upgrade to QOL in PvP Combat would be soooo huge! I mean HUGE! So many of us would appreciate this immensely.

Have a Nice Day.

Invasions wise, wasn’t on the last PTR some big bosses laying siege to a city? Wasn’t that a test or just some GM having fun?

I have updated 9 and 10 to reflect how ideally wars and forts/territories could be controlled by the entire faction rather than single companies.

I also feel like faction identity needs to be emphasized more and in various ways.

If you want People to play PTR and test new updates add incentive. For example in game currency awarded for a certain amount of time played, or cosmetics. As of right now no one has any motive to test the new features.

Added the idea below partially based on feedback from Kim Demone.

Crafting/Building:

For crafters to be able to get access to town upgrades, maybe they should be collectively building the town so that it goes from the current state of wooden basic shape to the new castle looking advanced looking building from the September update. This would be super cool as a collective progression system not tied to PvP directly.

Update #2 @Dave_NW @Shadow_Fox

Rune system looks cool but I get the feeling the ability recharge time is a bit too long. Great stuff!

The short term approach will hopefully see some of these easier to implement areas done soon!

AGS, you rock, please continue!!

Dear AGS,

Kind reminder that examples such as ToF and WoW’s combat movement fluidity and variety of attack types is the ultimate must have to make even the most mind numbingly boring PVE content enjoyable for the Nth time as proven by all the people willing to redo the same dungeon for the hundred thousandth time in these games.

I understand NW is an action combat game with a limited number of abilities where variety is further limited by the attributes system, but that doesn’t prevent it from making use of attack combos with unique animations based on different combinations of player interactions with the mouse/keyboard, similar to ToF, for example.

An even better example is BDO, although it can be a little too much at times, it is still known as the best action combat there is in all mmorpgs.

Just for the record, WoW just added an optional hybrid action combat mode to their latest Dragonflight alpha build bringing it closer to what action combat fans truly enjoy.

Something closer to a major overhaul of the combat system is needed for the PVE side to start to feel enjoyable. As it is, I’m sorry to say, it feels like a PvP game being forced to become a PVE game at the same time, which is why PVE-only players (the majority) aren’t going to find it exciting or even bother trying it at its current state (even with the runes system).
