The worst launch of an MMO

Well, as far as I remember it took me a couple of days to enter WoLK back in the days. Not there yet.
n my oppinion 3-5 days before things are stable and working as indented is acceptable.

Remember Diablo3? no? ok.

Talkin about the worst strat . I’ve been bugged since 8 am to 8pm then i have the chance to play. Unfortunatly after 8h of playing i got disconnect then my charac was delete hf w ith this!! Support tells me 2-3 days to recover, that nice i didn’t wanna p lay for 2 days great!

15-53 hours if I want to get in the same server as my friends, no Asmongold no my ass, to play with friends in 2 of the only 3 servers in my main language. But wait, because I can start queue at 5k position, wait until I am 300, and then get disconnected from the queue. Yeah

WoW? released 17 years ago?
FFXIV? releases 11 years ago?

Are you guys really comparing those games releases to this one in 2021 from one of the biggest companies in the world?

Damn this game industry really made it, fooled the hyped and ignored the unconformist

Hey, edit the post since you have a lot of views and add this Waiting in QUEUE? Try THIS (do your part!) - #2 by eliavn
so people do something useful instead of just rant

Hate to break it to you but the wait to get into the server depends on what server you pick. In WoW Classic I was in a very popular US East server at launch called Herod and I remember waiting in queues that was 18,000 people. Get over it or choose another server.

How the fuck can I get my money back for such a fuck’d up game launch…worst game launch ever.

Day two and product I bought I can’t use. I want a total refund for product I can’t use or log into.

I’ve played a lot of MMO’s over the years, starting with beta of EverQuest way back when. This is undoubtedly the worst launch experience I have ever seen from a pure demand management point of view.

Lots of others were buggy as hell and crashed constantly etc etc. The game itself is great when you do get to play,

But.

It’s currently 3pm UK time and the queue for every world is over 1600, with some worlds sitting over 6000. This is midweek, midday. Hardly prime time.

Biggest fail I’ve ever seen in managing capacity.

There you go

It’s not even implemented yet.

The problem is that it is not the worst launch. Beside the login server the game servers and client are working fine. Who is in the game will stay there. Some will not log off and will find a way to stay connected. And thats the problem now. We can only hope that Amazon reboots the server each night or many users cannot play. But better would be to increase the number of players.

Exactly, It is sad that the queue times are huge, but it’s kinda expected to happen when the game launches. You can bitch all over the place, but the actual gameplay and the game itself is absolutely great.

I would say Warlords of Draenor is the worst release ever on an MMO. They tied the entire expansion to 1 quest on getting garrison up and running, meaning everyone when they joined the expansion had to go through the same quest. Which crashed the system so badly that it took them weeks to get it straighten out.

What makes that launch even worse is that Blizzard should know better, it wasn’t their first expansion.

I simply don’t believe this. I made a new character halfway through the day at peak time and waited in a server 30 mins tops. Your issue is that you expect to play on the most populated servers and not expect to wait. Out of all MMO launches I’ve been through this is by far the best. SWTOR you couldn’t even level up for a good day, abilities barely worked, PvP was broke, etc.

This isn’t too bad, just play something else till the hype cools down and enjoy it then, simples. All MMO’s struggle with launch its hard to predict the player base on day one.

It is not the worst. They should have made names ID based so u can have what u want. They should have had better server names, so folks didn’t flood the good ones IE Camelot/El Dorado vs ytfhjjkgy and uyfkg.

The insane q’s suck, but otherwise a good launch compared to some.

No, its the fault of all you dummies rolling on an overcrowded server. They have added almost 40 servers to US East since the launch.

I’d also point out that the EU servers are queuing for hours and hours, each server is on high, each has 1500-7000 in queue but US East currently has biggest queue of 454 or so and a number of servers on low pop.

I’ve just given up on EU for now and logged in with no wait time to US. I might sea to EU if they sort it all out but for now I’m a wannabe yank.

yes all well and good in two weeks time, but they should have had this up their sleeve from the get go.
"Hey bud, thanks for buying your new car… we’ll put the seats in in a couple of weeks, but it still runs though
