I think expertise should just start at 590 and all level 60 gear start at 590.
Then players can grind for gear at 60 and participate in all endgame activities. Whilst there is still a progression system in the form of gear acquisition and umbrals to upgrade it.
I am 625 on everything and I really don’t think the 500-590 grind adds anything of value to the game. In fact it’s frustrating that you can’t utilise any of the gear that drops or sell it until you reach 590. It forces to to grind twice really…
Because it’s the only way players will be interested again.
People straight up won’t touch this game because of RNG gear grind, and having good gear from vendors will give those players something to look forward to.
Maybe greatsword will bring people back, but a fresh 60 getting clapped or not having an idea of how to get more geared will be discouraging to the average player.
Having this gear readily available from faction shops or PvP vendors will be that carrot on a stick that will bring players back in droves.
Watch they add actual ranked leaderboards that mean something other than a fake crafting rank to grind along with visible rewards you can see it gives a lot to more for the average casual player to give something to do.
I’m not saying it necessarily needs to be easy to get to 625. Or even easy to get legendary gear
But at least getting solid purples and a guaranteed way to get them and up to par in one or 2 months and a sense of accomplishment and direction.
Purple Gears with Reslient + skill or Resilient + refreshing (similar with Faction set) u can get cheap. Probably between 5k-25k.
Now if u are telling it will be hard to get 5k-25k. U spend at least 3k paying Faction NPC. While on market u can find it with less than 10k probably, some even legendary (sure 3rd might be garbage bonus).
Why should you, as a player who decided to stop playing, be able to jump back into the game and immediately compete with people that have not stopped playing and worked for their BiS gear. Why should you just log in and be handed free gear where you pick the perks and stats just cause you’ve been away from the game for 5 months. You’re invalidating the time spent by the actual longer term players. You are not a long term player if you’ve quit halfway through.
The only time catchup mechanics need to be introduced is with a new expansion. The grind is being reduced again next patch and they’re introducing even more ways to get good gear and Named dungeon drops. The only reason I’d agree with 590 non-scaled faction gear is if it can’t be upgraded to legendary and gain a new perk, the perks are random.
Because the RNG in this game is trash. I quit 2 months ago after I learned arena ranks weren’t even really ranked and that my class was nerfed to dirt.
I’m of the belief that there are players who feel like this grind is good is hurting the game and making it incredibly inaccessible to the majority of players.
There is a reason this game went from 1,00,000 players to 5,000 because systems like dungeon grinds and tuning orbs are trash.
Would you say because you spent time grinding tuning orbs that because this is the way it is implemented it was good? And because you grinded all the orbs the system needs to stay?
I would say no because it was a trash and un fun system.
The RNG grind is trash,
Lack of ranked PvP is trash
Lack of useless perks which took up until this month’s PTR was trash
It’s time to abolish these systems and figure out a better way.
You put in the time that’s great. I’m not saying that getting BiS should be easy at all and I’m not trying to devalue the work people did
but there should be ways to catch up and ways to get Legendaries that involve grinding to a set goal not RNG
This is not correct, not all named items can be crafted, look at the new Expo the Tank set is only attainable thru M10’s There is only certain pc’s that can be crafted
Loot it up on database for summer patch, if it dont have a crafting symbol next to it it can not be crafted.
I do not have BiS, and i don’t expect to get it without some effort. As much as i hate the RNG, i do see the improvements and ease of getting gear in the PTR. As things are right now, getting a full set of purple two perks with really good combat stats for pve or pvp is incredibly easy on the PTR. Crafting, drops and even casts are handing out really good pieces. This will make a world of difference.
There are too many improvements to list from the PTR but with all of the changes getting caught up or getting in good starting gear will be trivial. Including the perfect salvaging > gypsum with no timers buff.
Many of these improvements many of us have railed for until we were blue in the face so i am very happy with the changes. We will just have to see how it shakes out.
500-600 doesnt add shit. but its there unfortunately.
at the least as of right now.
opr takes like 20ish minutes give or take. 40ish minute to get 2 rubies currently its 1 to 1 as of 1.5.5.
garnets just added to arenas. 10 ish minutes to do 2 of them its 1 to 1 like citrines as of 1.5.5
sapphires. lots of dungeons can be sped run if you know what you are doing in like 20 minutes.
citrines no more than 15 minutes each
emerald if you are doing normal crafting cool downs should be 1 per day
diamonds easy
faction token orb easy
topaz can be done together with sapphire or obsidan can take like an hour or be merged together so ignore for now.
from pvp alone thats 4 gypsums per day 1 hour of play
from pve alone thats 4 gypsums per day 1 hour per day +1 if you topaz.
plus freebee emerald diamond and faction shop thats 4 more
lets say 2.5 hours per day to do all that. 13 per day.
at minimum bump rate of 2(? currently?) thats 26 per day not counting other bump soruces. so 10 pieces wil ltake 38 days to complete.
you could realistically say half of that so like 20 days.
and thats only 2.5 hours a day. thats not as bad as before.
all the while you are learning dungeons, your pvp builds, and otherwise playing the game.
Ok I’m with you. I did take a break so thank you for teaching me that. So Gypsum farm is good and expertise bumps are manageable.
That still doesn’t change the fact that this games loot rolls are potentially out of a scale of 1 million. Meaning you are looking at .0001% to maybe more pending luck % like .1% to get really perfect legendary gear.
Is it really so bad to have a vendor where even if it took us like 1 months or 2 months a piece we can realistically get a full set of legendary gear with what we want. That’s like half a year or more of grinding.
@Luxendra any news on vendor chosen gear with full control over perks instead of RNG hell?
I know it’s fast mate. I did it before the gypsum system. I did so because I love new world and just stuck out what was a very dull process at the time.
The issue is most people won’t stick out the grind. Especially if you like PvP. It’s best to wait until you are at least 590 before you can even get gear to see if you like it.
I just don’t think it needs to be in the game if it doesn’t add anything to the players experience. Every MMO has a progression system in the endgame even if that is just the acquisition of gear. The grind between 500-590 is just an arbitrary grind. It doesn’t offer the player any tangible progression or power.
I hope you help new players complete the grind with your knowledge of it, but I really believe it needs to go. Gear progression and umbral system is enough to keep people engaged. If it isn’t at least they might enjoy their time playing through the content.
yeah its a fat time stop right at 60 and its really annoying for sure.
its basically an artificial level from 60 to 70 basically without giving any additional attribute points.
i dont think they can really do anything about it right now besides increasing the level cap but that opens a can of worms for attribute points which i mean i could be ok or not i dont know.
umbrals should be next on the docket after the gear update.
I think they could just start all level 60s at 590 and make all level 60 gear start at 590. I have been 625 for a long time and I still play. I would guess most people here are doing the same. I don’t really see why they can’t do that tbh… If people run out of content and leave at least they leave may having enjoyed it.
I think umbrals is a great system that kind of future proof your current gear. I think that’s rewarding, improving your gear.
What keeps you playing btw?
I like trying different builds and setups.
To be honest, if they released the cap on drops and untied it from expertise that would probably reduce a very large amount of friction, at least for me. Then at the very least i am able to sell and roll a potential upgrade.
Part of my biggest peeve the whole time up to 600 was just all junk, massive massive quantities of unsellable junk, and no upgrades the entire time. Just feels bad.
