Hear me out: I love this game. I have put hundreds of hours into this game between both betas and launch. AGS has done an incredible job adding content to the game, and I understand there will eventually be arenas, leaderboards, etc., BUT… after participating in 5 wars over my play time… It’s already getting a little stale.
Unless you lose to an invasion, owning a settlement just means constant wars, and for what? Cheaper azoth travel?
Give me a level 65+ elite dungeon that can ONLY be accessed if your company has held a settlement for 30+ days in a row. Make each settlement have some unique 30/60/90 day reward, even if it’s just a cosmetic. I want to feel the true high risk/high reward of wars. That could also be balanced by limiting wars to 3x a week or something.
There’s so much more that can be brought into this game(think like emperor in ESO). I cannot wait to see it. I know things, ranging from pvp arenas to naval combat and boats, have been discussed, but I would love to see a roadmap of what’s to come. Keep me excited!
Let me know what else could be done for rewards to maintaining settlements!
** as to not make a separate topic on it, I always thought an era-appropriate idea would be mass ‘public’ transportation.
Essentially, similar to upgrading an Outfitting Station at a settlement, you would upgrade the public transit. I was thinking about the big boats and elevators in WoW and other MMOs. They’re on a set timer, and always going. You can use the free, yet slower, forms of transport to travel. For NW, It would start off as a horse and carriage, and could POSSIBLY evolve into a train or something.
Idk, maybe it could even be an item/gold sink that people have to use like steel ingots or something to build…
This sounds far out, but this game has literal 100% open door potential
They can’t tie too many rewards/benefits to territory control because the more important territory is the more pressure you’re putting on players to transfer to the dominant faction. Plus, the game really doesn’t have enough content to gate any of it behind territory control.
I’m really skeptical they can make the territory control system actually engaging/successful because even right now there is no reason for most players not to transfer to the dominant faction on each server in three months.
I can see your concern, but I think there’s still plenty of potential.
Also, just FYI, you CAN’T transfer to the dominate faction. They did that on purpose. If there’s one faction that’s taken half the map, then the other two have to work together to stop them(anyone can sign up for a war).
I’d not have a great time with this. Most players are joining the dominant faction, and if they get yet another benefit, then why would anyone choose to join the weaker factions?
Again, you CANNOT join the dominant faction - at all.
Secondly, being the underdog is one of the most exciting parts of the game. On my server, our corporation started as the hard underdogs, but have quickly advanced to being one of the best. I’m PRAYING that someone come in and challenges us. Being #1 is boring.
