I’m writting this here, as I can’t find a better place. I’ve noticed a failure in the transaltion of these items. They are both translated as “Piel gruesa”, which is pretty confusing.
On top of that, Thick Fur drop rates are amazingly low, (I’d check it, because it looks bugged tbh) which had me thinking that I had 1000 items with an icon and just 5 bugged with a different image, but when trying to craft some armor pieces only the “bugged” ones counted, so I was really annoyed.

I play the english version but, if what you’re saying it’s true, and two items have the same name, that’s quite a priority IMO.
Concerning thick fur drop rates, fur seems to be a rare item. Thick fur is most probably the higher tier version of it and so inherits the rarity and small drop chances. I’m out of the game but I’m pretty certain about that.
4 people several hours yesterday and only got 4 when you need much more (can’t recall right now) for an armor piece that you can make with 100 crafting skill… seems odd.
I even got 10 pieces of an epic fur at that time, 2.5 times the thick fur we got.
It’s easy to confirm the translation issue (as long as you have at least one thick fur and hide) just change your language setting to Spanish (Spain) and you will see it by yourself.
I submitted a ticket due to this very issue.
I bet they’ll be ROFLing when they read it and have to explain to me that those are different items, even if they translated both with the same name.
