I was playing New World this morning and I smelled something like burning plastic, but it was to late for my laptop. Now, I cannot turn it on at all. I recommend players who cannot afford a new pc like me not to play this game until they are sure about their pc’s safety.
Hi
I also installed the game today and started it with my rog app open.
My gpu temp was at 71 and rising till 72-73 then back and it was normal it can go upto 80-85.
But something unusual happened as i wanted to change my Wi-Fi to another wifi so what i did was press win button to go to the wifi section.
But after 5-6 seconds of pressing the win button something happened to the screen like it was fading and was going black like my laptop was loosing it’s life.
So what i did hurriedly was press my long press my power button and switched off the laptop and i also checked for smells of burning but luckily there was nothing unusual no smells no burn marks on laptop.
And i switched on the laptop and checked everything it was a slow for a moment when i switched it on but i ran another game dying light-1 it ran smoothly mo heat problems no lag.
Then i deleted the game.
I didn’t even play it i was on choosing the section server when this happened.
So now my only concern is that when will be i able to play this game.
My laptop’s spec’s are:-
Asus rog strix G17 2020 model
16gb ram,GTX 6gb 1660ti graphic’s,i7 10750H,10th gen,17’3 inch, Win 11(Insider program).1tb ssd.
That’s it.
Do you have any specific settings in the Nvidia control panel?
Do you have MSI Afterburner?
If you try and run it again on a laptop, cap the frames at 60 in-game and in the Nvidia Control panel cap the frames at 55Hz rather than 60Hz so it doesn’t go a bit over 60Hrz.
In After Burner set the Power Limit to 70.
Yeah this game is a resource hog and it causes major overheating.
I have a good PC with an old GPU (1060) and the fans spin so fast when I play NW I’m afraid my PC will either take off or melt.
I’ve stopped playing because of this.
No game is worth the risk of frying your rig.
