This game is a reflection of real life

Cheaters, bots, dupers, and other “criminals” profiting in plain sight with the authorities not doing anything about it, yet the average joe gets a ban for petty chat offenses.

The corrupt political elite making astronomical amounts of money on the back of middle class paying taxes just to have a roof, and then use to secure their position through intimidation and violence. Then we get the economic backlash of inflation.

The never ending grind for fame and wealth in order to reach objectives that never seem to be attainable. The most effective way is always the most boring yet we feel compelled to do it even if alternatives exist, by fear of missing out.

The frustration of basic, seemingly simple-to-solve issues not being granted any attention or ressources by authorities, while huge expenses are being made toward complex upgrades no body asked for.

We think it all sucks and we want to quit, but everyday, we still find ourselves playing.

I tried to quit playing once but made the mistake of saying something nice to my folks via email (I was on the other side of the country at the time) beforehand. For two people that are never online, of course they were online at that exact time.

Now I have to play because I am married and the wife would be annoyed if I quit. But these days I don’t grind for better gear or play the market to make money. I gather, cook and do what I need to do to prevent myself from losing levels. And if someone engages in PvP, only one of us will go home alive. I am OK with that.
