This game needs a PvP ruleset

To add to this; neither of us are being ignorant for the way we play. You are being ignorant by refusing to accept someone elses own experience as valid because you deem it not to be.

I’ve been flagged since release as well, so I am gonna charge into this discussion.

Yeah, I’ve seen as well large groups going around with PvP, but it does not happen all the time. People’s excuses to not put PvP on is flat lie. Most people say the things you saying, or they gonna wait to level 60 etc. They just simply does not want to do PvP. They are scared, or what is it? You can simply just create a camp, and respawn to it. If you loose to a bunch of people then there is nothing you could do with that, and move on…

PvP in this game nonexistent because there are so few people doing it. Everyone (even the people that doesn’t flag), HAVE TO admit that hardly anyone is really flagging… You can’t deny that. Be real with yourselves.

Again, different experiences for different servers.

Sure if you want to nit pick you could say I am “Scared”. I value my time. If I am working on a quest, I do not want to be ganked. I do not want to waste my time when I do not have to. Yes I can set a campfire but who is to say that those same squads arent gonna sit in the area and just keep killing me? Sure I can go do other quest but why would I when I just don’t have to flag and be on my merry way. At the end of the day flagging for PvP while questing (which 90% of the player base is still doing) is not worth it in a time aspect.

At the end of the day, we all need to understand that not all servers have the same kind of activity. Each one is different in their own way. Stop thinking that just because your ONE server out of over 200 plays a certain way that all the others play the same way.

Some of us just do not care for PvP.

When I hit 60, I’ll give it a try for Wars and such. Until then … I enjoy the PvE, and I’ll stick with that, thank you very much.

You can’t say that though, its a “poor excuse” to not flag up. Just flag up bro :joy:

Yes, I bloody well CAN say that, and no, I bloody well WON’T flag up until I’m good and damned ready … in a little over thirty levels.

No what I’m saying is, I have many 100’s of hours across multiple betas and even though I see the odd gank squad or two, it’s no reason to sit behind a wall of excuses about why you don’t flag, which you clearly don’t. In which case, why are you even in this thread? Just to say no to the people who want to experience more PvP? So I’d return all your ego comments back at you, because if yours weren’t so inflated you would see that this is what this thread is about, it’s not a place for PvE extremists to sit here and so “no I don’t want it becuse (excuse).
There is no excuse, even IF you get ganked… so what? Go back to your camp that is less than 500m away.
You clearly just don’t WANT to pvp so in that case, again, what are you doing here?

If you do not care for PvP then why are you in a PvP thread? You have the option to not flag, so there you go, you got what you want. Now let us fight for what we want, isn’t that fair?

Because, over tens of thousands of hours of experience in mixed PvE/PvP MMOs over the past two decades (and a bit more), I have seen time and again that these kinds of PvP threads inevitably become calls to force other people into PvP.

So either I step up and make sure there’s a voice in opposition to that … or it looks like nobody disagrees, and the suggestion might just carry.

Conversely, so as not to be a complete jerk, I also throw my support behind pro-PvP quality of life things that won’t force me into that PvP, or that will - glory of glories - give me a way to dip my toes into that side of the game with less risk of being griefed in the process.

EDIT TO ADD: yeah, really funny folks, flagging this as “off-topic”, but not what it was a direct response to. Guess the truth hurts, eh, Toxic-PvPers?

This thread is not trying to force people like you into PvP, it’s trying to give us people that like PvP more options, to which options are very limited, and although I’m sure you have a lot of great experience in other mmos, this is about New World. In New World if we want to PvP we have to flag and hope there are people around, or try to get invited to a war, a mode that is seemingly not closed off to most players. It’s not enough, hence this thread.

YET.

That is always the operative word: YET.

This.

The point myself and many others are trying to make is: In this PvPvE game where the devs said they wanted it to be equal, it is not. Despite having flag on me all the time, I have less PvP options available to me than even something like ffxiv which is a meme regarding PvP. My wife and I are pretty bored by the average PvE and so like many many others, likely won’t last much longer. These forums are supposed to be here for possible improvements, not bickering and name calling, but some people seem to miss that part…

That’s not a game design or a developer problem.

That’s simply a result of the majority of the players not wanting to PvP.

You can’t “fix” that … and attempts to do so, inevitably lead to efforts to force PvP on people. Lines start being drawn around things, with declarations being “if you want to do/get/travel past/etc X thing, you have to PvP for it”.

Which is why I said that threads like this are part of a conversation that inevitably devolves into forced PvP suggestions.

It is a design problem, because the incentive to PvP is not there. It is more beneficial to unflag, resulting in a failed design philosophy.

For a great many people - the majority, I would guess - there is NO INCENTIVE POSSIBLE to entice them to flag for PvP when they are intent on pursuing PvE goals.

And for a game that essentially revolves around the idea of PvP aka territory capture, it’s poorly designed.
If all the PvP players up and leave, wars will be fought by players who have absolutely no interest in it.

What game would that be?

Because it isn’t New World, and hasn’t been since before launch.

And if all the PvE players up and leave, the game would begin a death spiral.

I’ve seen it happen numerous times before.
