A lot of people here really need to take a step back. This is a video game and many here are out for blood because of AGS’s decision to create Fresh Start worlds next month.
You were hyped up by content creators drilling the thought of Fresh Start servers in your head off of datamined material. Not everything that is datamined is expected to make it to live servers. This put AGS in a position to respond, which they did. I don’t care to defend AGS as they’ve made the bed in which they lay, but it’s incredibly dishonest of content creators who are given opportunities that we aren’t to continue to hype up pipe dreams on a whim.
This goes out to the content creators out there that have a broad audience who look to them for guidance on this video game:
Please stop trying to explain your opinion as fact and hyping up unconfirmed content as its a highly contributing catalyst to the whining we see on the forums. Constructive criticism is fine, but nearly every other post is asking for AGS’s head because they got a date they didn’t want.
I’d like to clarify as well that fresh start servers are a wonderful addition that I look forward to taking advantage of and completely cornering markets on the trade station early.
Unfortunately that’s how they make money. It’s rarely ever about the games they play when they get to that level of influence. Instead there is a pressure to release content and get views to make a living. It’s on players to know how to take in information, digest it, and be critical of that information. That’s a big issue for many people that is not exclusive to this game, gaming in general, etc. People struggle to be critical of the information they consume or are under a false delusion they are.
People definitely need to take a step back for sure, but I doubt this will change things when people like Asmongold and other content creators are not incentivized by promoting a healthy community and game and instead by getting those views and making a living.
I 100% agree and understand what you’re saying. I didn’t intend for this to be a “shot” at content creators, more so just be honest with your audience instead of building a narrative that causes tension because developers and their audience. I know that’s pretty farfetched to expect, but I’d rather say something about it than not say anything at all.
