A post like this has multiple interpretations but what i think you are trying to show is a struggle on both sides with relative balance as opposed to absolute ballance. Which relative balance is a great thing to aspire towards on a development stand point because in that way one build is always better than the next. Absolute balance is as simple as a coin flip to determine the winner. But what i can also see that maybe others might catch is simply “we want the match to be close but we dont want to loose” that is very much a problematic mind set.
