this is your last chance to maybe salvage your game, if this patch revives some intresst into the game, please be more active in balance patching after this. if bruisers turn out to be compleatly useless, buff them, if mages becomes to overpowered nerf them.
we cant just have a once every blood moon patch that revitalizes the game. the game is limping in server pop. 3 companys has basicly said if this patch doesnt work out, they just gonna go back to bdo and wow.
please for all things holy, dont abadon this game for 6 months this time…

The bruisers are not useless. The problem is people are looking at the changes and thinking nerf, but thats not actually how things are on ptr. Bruisers now have at least three viable builds. The current live meta build with ga/wh is now a support role which will be important in war, but now there is another build for dps with things like wrecking ball, or armor breaker, execute etc, and there is now the option to avoid both str builds and go dex bruiser with spear, rapier etc.

On ptr, the dps str bruiser is killing people in a single rotation. The kill time is actually faster than live.You might things mages are super amazing, but they are not, and fs can be easily countered by fire conditioning. one perk can render fire mage totally useless in pvp.

Eventually what you and others will come to understand is a good mixture of all classes will be needed.

after this update is released
management team, with the management teams of other companies we have alliances with
we had a meeting and as a result of the meeting, the whole management team decided to quit the game and 90% of our players left the game. and it’s not just us. thousands of players leave

I can’t understand why AGS made such an mistake
The game has already been in the range meta for a very long time and many of our players left the game because of this range meta and many of them were very complaining. (musket bow meta) they are right
musket and bow**(still SAME xD)** can do 3 hits and 1 kill and can do it without any risk.
unlimited haste
batting advantage
escape ability
and they usually play rapier it
rapier is the best escape weapon you can see in this game.
So much so that you can drive your opponent crazy and easily escape before your opponent can do you any harm. (Rapier survival abilities need serious nerfing)

Let’s not stray too far
Fortift is one of the biggest mistakes they made with Rend nerf.
because this nerf just ruins melee classes and they need to give up on this idea immediately.
300 str grit>300con grit is excessive and they need to give up on this idea.

I don’t even want to mention the other silly melee class nerfs. (excluded the gravity well nerf.)

In short, AGS made the biggest mistake it could make.
1-2 months after this pathch is published, the population of the game will drop incredibly. I have no doubt that New World will lose around 60-70% of players.
Because
PVP has become extremely bad.
people never wanted the range meta anyway because it’s not fun at all, you die suddenly on the battlefield, it’s almost impossible to catch a range class, you have to chase after them for minutes, they have stupidly much damage…
The most enjoyable meta of this game is the melee meta. Opposing it doesn’t change the truth.

I’ve always supported buffing Fire staff but this FS buff is too much because it’s unbalanced. fire staff has never needed a damage(+DoT) buff. only AOE abilities needed to be scaled up, Meteor shower need buffed.

as someone who has been playing meele sience launch, and dabbled in firestaff, i can say for sure wh ga gs needed some severe nerfs, wich they finally got. a tank is a tank, if you wanna soak up 10 abilities like nothing like you can do currently if you build correctly , and got a healer, then you go 300 con, but at the moment, i feel like i can just swing my warhammer 247 and just occationally dodge another warhammer cc.

firestaffs has been useless in wars for ages, its to early to say if it will even be viable in wars next patch, they just made some abilties qicker cast and gave burnout a reason other than a gap closer, there is a real reason to burnout into a bow player now, with the 230% weapon damage that it will deal.
the burns have not gotten buffed next patch, they just buffed the pyromancer tree a bit, flamethrower seems to be sort of nerfed, not sure thus far.

the most oppressive weapon next patch will continue to be bow. they got some stagger nerfs, but to be expected, and lost about 5% damage on their passives.

the biggest problem with the game is the stamina perks beeing fantasically overpowered, trying to catch a rapier dex with stam recovery and shirking energy is borderline impossible for any other weapon. whilst that is fine and dandy, it doenst make sense that everyone then has to run 3+ emeralds or you get oneshot by bows.

am just using examples, for all we know bruisers can become overpowered, its impossible to say untill people get some time to work on builds.
some mages say its a nerf whilst others say its a buff to firestaff.
its hard to say , if this patch gets pushed to live in 5 days we can just accept that it wont get changed for another half year.

I think a lot of bruisers will try the patch and get melted. They will quit before trying to adapt to the changes. Healers will probably quit too since healing range doesn’t work that well. It’s going to be all Bows and FSs. If this does happen, hopefully they will address it quickly. I don’t think they will, though. None of this makes any sense.

I can tell you GA/WH medium armor players were getting destroyed in PTR OPR. They died fast to my spear build and FS build. Were these players any good? Will my ptr experience be reflective of live servers? I don’t know, but it definitely did not seem like a buff on the ptr.

I did play new world OPR yesterday for awhile. I believe the most bruisers (medium armor GA/WH) I saw on a single team were 2. Just two. There were a few more lights assassins, but almost everyone else was bows or mages. There is no way people will keep playing this game if this continues.

cuz they all slotted the same shi.t gem’s and tried to get resil and shirking fort on ptr for sure xD

its random gear aswell nobody made a whole perfect set on ptr ( there is the 590-600 crafting bug on top )

Yea, it’s hard to tell on the PtR.

I do know from duels on the PTR, 200 con medium armor with full resilient, 10% fire resistance, and 5/5 elemental aversion die in 3 or 4 FS attacks (heavy attack, fire ball, pillar or burnout). Is this any different than live servers?

Anyway, you are not really going to get much more protection than that, except for some more fire resistance, which will make you extremely vulnerable to bows.

I just don’t see how it will possible for bruisers to be in a better spot than they are now, especially when you consider the changes to fortify and grit. If people are already struggling to play melee in OPR it will only get worse.

I mostly use dex range, but I guess I like new world, and I don’t want to see it get shut down.

So dramatic. Bruisers were doing way too much damage for what their role was supposed to be. Their damage got tuned and now they’re not immune to half of the cc in the game just by left clicking. They still have grit on their heavy attacks though. But most of you don’t know how to utilize it properly

I know you don’t play OPR that often, but how many bruisers do you see in your OPR matches?

I played for awhile yesterday and the most I saw were 2 on the same team. I ended up switching to the musket and bullied the 2 bruisers. The next match one bruiser switched to the bow and the other switched to the fire staff.

Anyway, from my matches yesterday , there were frequently 0 bruisers. There were a few more light assassin melee, like 1 to 5. There were 0 to 5 healers. There were 0-2 BBs, and 0-2 muskets.

Everyone else was bows/mages. Many games had one team with >15 range players.

Maybe things are different on your server, but this kind of game play I’m experiencing is comical bad. It is a meme. It wasn’t always like this.

As long as players keep feeding them cash by buying marks for dumb cosmetics etc. They will do nothing. Players are paying them to do nothing. Oh sorry…a few very basic and ugly skin sets…so it is something.

if you actually scroll down a few comments, you can see that i said it could be the entire way around , it was just more critizim towards the slow balancing of ags.
i rather have month to month balance patches rather than have one every 6 months.

ive played on barri and abaton this last month, and around a third is bruisers, rest is a spread of healers , assassins , bows and mages.

defmetal doesent play bruiser in competitive wars, he has 0 clue what hes talking about

I told you guys the math is changed so everything is changed. The balance is much better.

mark my words ags, before a patch drop there is generally a spike in players, you have now lost half your playerbase from last month. if this patch isnt the golden goose, you will have failed a fantastic game all on your own.
i hope that you give all the people who bought this game, full year season pass to be redeemed whenever we feel like it.

Calling it now. Wars gunna be super range heavy. 20-25 bows with MAYBE 3 point groups and the rest mages.

you think AGS will respond promptly and fast? hahahaha. as if, whatever bug / exploit / overpowered weapon pops up post patch will be in game for at least three months.

New world could have been such a great game if literally any company other then AGS did the management, one of the coolest designed MMO’s, with a unique fighting style, and territory ownership. Run into the ground by incompetent devs. Horrible anti cheat, allows for aimbotters, exploiters, and macro users to abuse every possible weakness the game has to offer, and dev’s leave them in game for months and months.

Territory ownership has been allowed to be dominated by 1 mega company on each server, since literally 2 months into the game, when the issue started popping up.
