Three EASY ways to add way move PVP to the game

SUMMARY:
Let’s be real, OPR isn’t pure PVP. I’ve given up any hope of OPR becoming more fun for pure PVP players and thus have decided to suggest ways to add more PVP to the game that won’t touch any pre-existing modes.

PVP CONTENT #1

  • Battalion/Party/Raid groups (20 players max, minimum 6)

HOW IT WORKS:
This would be a grouping option where a max of 4 regular groups can combine together as a larger ‘battalion’ or ‘party/raid’. It functions like a large group of 4 smaller groups. You can have a total of 20 players in it, or a minimum of 6 players.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Players can then have 20v20 combat in the open world. Imagine 20v20 duels against your own company? The enemy company? Imagine the cool combat games you can come up with. Such as tower siege where 20 players must defend the top of Malevolence Tower, and the other 20 must try to take it from them. Imagine 20v20 fort attacks. 10v10 spear dodgeball. Organized influence pushes. ETC

(company defending malevolence a few months ago against enemy factions)

(multiple companies doing 5v5 spear dodgeball)

(company lying in wait, planning to ambush enemy faction)

PVP CONTENT #2

  • Custom Game lobbies

HOW IT WORKS:
Add a new tab under ‘gamemodes’ called ‘custom’. Players are given two options: ‘create lobby’ or ‘join lobby’. If you select ‘create’ you can choose between: war/3v3/opr and can make it private or public. If you choose private, you get a random code which you can share with people you’d like to invite to the lobby. If its public, anyone can view/join it when they go to ‘join lobby’.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
People can have in-house oprs (company only). People can set up drunk wars. People can create new rules. Can make their OPR lobby PVP only. Melee only. Mage only. No healers. Only healers. ETC. People can set up 3v3 tournaments. People can have OPR tournaments. People have scrim against enemy companies. ETC

(trying to set up 5v5s or get any form of larger scale PVP practice is a nightmare and takes so long to set up)

PVP CONTENT #3

  • Daily PVP hotspots (or every few days to reduce burnout, or make it a limited time event such as 2hr durations)

HOW IT WORKS:
Have PVP hotspot that rotates through all territories. These hotspots have 100% higher chance for players to drop pvp xp/salt, and make it bountiful. This could just be a ring that passively generates salt/xp slowly as long as your faction has more players in it than other factions. If you kill members with the dominant numbers, you get bonus xp/salt. Killing players with the least amount of faction members within the ring generates you less salt/xp. Tents cannot be placed inside the zone.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Encourages Open World PVP and gives players a reason to go out and farm it (aka the increased rewards). The open world PVP in the Cleave used to be a lot of fun. Now theres no reason to go out there. Bring it back, but make it meaningful and not a hamster wheel… aka dont involve faction missions.

(people pvp’ing in the Great Cleave)

PS:… consider increasing the gold rewards for Invasions and Wars. These take lots of time/prep and have major consequences for losses… yet you earn less gold from them than a free dungeon that you can farm all day? It makes no sense. Buff the Invasion/War rewards.

TL;DR:
These are relatively simple ways to inject WAY more PVP into the game without changing anything about pre-existing modes and doesn’t require new maps to be made. Would love to see these added.

ALSO can we get some info on Instanced Wars? Nothing has been said since you disabled them at the start of the Summer Patch.

Although each of these would be cool to have, I do like the Hotspot suggestion the most! Having a “Guard Post” area that can be captured in the open world would be awesome. Mini forts or something.
The Custom Games lobby thing would be awesome especially for larger guilds for testing or just plain fun.

its funny you mention that! I remember when I first heard about the Great Cleave, Shattered Mountain and Edengrove not being ownable by companies/factions, I thought FOR SURE, one of the outpost would be a siege-able fort.

But now I just think it would be cool if they were claimable and capturing one would provide benefits to the owners. After capturing it would lock for 1-3 hr. This would result in people heading out there to brawl over the forts for the rewards and adding a cooldown between captures would reduce chances of burnout

PVP mode game and PVE mode game will never coexist together , it will never …

PVP mode need that players are regrouping themselves to fight back the ennemy for a push or something.

PVE mode just don t care because there are no PVP aspect that will hit them in game :frowning: They don’t care if they don’t own any territory
They don’t care if fortress are taken or not
They even don t care about azoth transfer cost because AGS nerfed all Azoth required to travel.
They don’t care because they know AGS will take their side and their hand and they will make the game easier and easier for PVE crowds, they’ve proven it many time and will do again :frowning:

So there it is … division of community

You dont need to write Encyclopedia how to boost PVP.
Two simple thing
1 Remove Factions so everyone fight with eachother for territory control it will boost clan wars
2 Bring MMR Rank system to OPR and see how those musket, bow players change to healer or bruiser for win.

Thats not what this post is about lmao

Its hardly an encyclopedia, just 3 ideas I’d love to see implemented lol

Im all in for the PvP hotspot.
The idea was mentioned a few times but in general the game needs a bit more RNG on the good side ( and not on god damn gear rolls). This would be open world events like this one that got random spawn zone at random times so nobody could camp it like a rotation.

Hot spots, please.

Who’s going to tell him?

No. This is an MMO, it is not a lobby. There’s already enough Arena/OPR/War logging, the game doesn’t need more.

I support the idea, but I doubt PvE players would be happy with the rewards in this mode, they would have to play to get them haha. I insist on the idea of separate PvP and PvE servers, this game was initially intended to be played with active PvP mode, only with that the whole map is revitalized again and we are all happy.

The thing is MMOs all have lobbies, and it’s a video game not a lifestyle lol

Raids, dungeons, capture the flag, arenas, duels etc is in pretty much every one

Let people have fun instead of trying to maintain a specific vision for this type of game. People routinely complain about not having enough PvP content lol

Huh? But PVE players have the most ways to get rewards in the game.

  • chest runs
  • dungeons
  • mutations
  • open world bosses
  • open world dungeons
  • elite zones
  • loot monsters
  • story and side missions
  • invasions

PvP players have:

  • PvP track? Which has less overall rewards earned over 2hrs of playing than a single dungeon?

Let PvP players have something lol and it’s not like there’s new rewards being added, just more ways to get xp/salt which still wouldn’t put it on par with PVE rewards

Also PVP rewards are bind on pickup but PVE players can sell most of what they get for gold. They have it good, they should sit down and not cry about it

Hahaha, we totally agree. But they will cry just the same, they are like the spoiled children of the family who need to be cared for greatly because they have such low self-esteem that if something does not go their way, they cause a scandal.

Well they can cry their little hearts out then hahah

They’ve had back to back dungeon and mutation releases, but opr still only has one map and to add salt to the wound they buffed pve in opr.

We got instanced wars finally and they disabled it after 1 day and haven’t even mentioned it since because they put the dungeon bugs as their priority

The open world PvP was insane when the PvP track came out but then they gutted open world PvP rewards and it died in an instant, but hey they added a loot monster and fancy new mid level mobs.

Made dungeons free but you still earn more rewards than you do spending hours grinding the PvP track

Idk man we get the short end of the stick all the time, I’m just gonna push for more pvp even if they (the PVErs) try to set me on fire for it LOL

If the problem is that AGS still does not realize what its real target audience is and patch after patch with new content the same thing happens. Increase the number of players for 2 weeks and go back down. If you ask me, having one server with PvP always active and another without PvP active would be the ideal solution.

And I can put my chips in that the PvP server would be a resounding success. And it would not be necessary to modify the game excessively, simply form groups with the people of your faction.

True, a PvP server would not - in a vacuum and in and of itself - require changes beyond making the flag permanent except in sanctuaries. But:

Unless it comes with an ironclad rule that people rolling on it have to agree to, saying they understand that it will have exactly the same balance mechanics and other game elements as the rest of the game’s servers, I can easily see players on that server demanding PvP-only balance passes with the rationale that there are no PvEers there to complain about it.

As soon as that happened, if AGS gave into it, they would be on the hook for forking the game and being forced to maintain two versions.

A PvE-only server is much harder to implement, since the entire territory control mechanic would have to be re-worked.

Thought you were leaving? :eyes:

lol, my wife decided we needed to wait a little while so she could finish up something. Hopefully we won’t be late for the ferry!

It is that a PvE server would work exactly like the current server but without activating PvP. And in wars, it’s the same as now, if with the current system all the manufacturing tables are still practically at the maximum level. But you could party with anyone, even if it’s from a different faction.
