Thwarting strikes no worky with elemental gem

  • Describe the issue you are experiencing: I’m using a 50% fire gem on a thwarting strikes axe for a modest damage increase against angry earth, but the fire half of the damage is lower than the slash half. On maelstrom attacks, which don’t seem to have grit during the swings, the fire damage is higher.

first of all, maelstrom does have grit during the first spin, so only 2nd spin would have different dmg if the thwarting strike theory is true.

I think only the backswing has grit and neither of the spins have active grit

u forgot about 50 and 100 str. perks

50 str → 10 % more light and heavy PHYSICAL attacks
and
100 str → 5 % more slash dmg

so that’s why ur slashing dmg is higher than fire even if angry earth takes +20 % slash and +30 fire mdg

Nah the first spin of mael has grit. Second one does not

Appreciate the reply, bro. I looked at it slowlier, and I do see grit for at least half of the first spin, and I do mostly get the grit bonus on the first spin unless things are far away. Imgur: The magic of the Internet
