Tip for the HEALER to be FUN and not BROKEN

There are many things that can be done to the healer, to make it fun and not BROKEN.
Imagine if heals were CHANNEL-USING THE RETICLE TO AIM, and not instant-AOE-auto-aim. So the healer must choose between healing or fast attacking, but never both at the same time.

The healer would be more dynamic. We could even increase the percentage of damage that weapons take when using the focus gem (AMBER), so even the healer could do more DPS with his secondary weapon.
But I reiterate NEVER HEAL AND HURT at the SAME TIME

I mean without an understanding of the skills they would implement, it’s impossible to know how this would work or look like or feel.

I do know that the channel have to aim like a beam to heal would be near impossible to land for group healers in war. The sheer number of bodies would be the issue.

Not saying the changes would be bad, you just don’t really have a fully fledged out idea of this rework, so it’s impossible to know how it would feel. But if this were the case I’d argue they’d need to remove the bonus/reduction of healing in different weight classes. Healers being forced in light doesn’t allow for dynamic gameplay. Not against switching from raw number to a more dynamic support build with buffs, but a lot of the suggestions of changes require healers to be in closer quarters then light allows

Of course I only put the GENERAL IDEA, in the POST where there is a lot to read, people usually skip them.
But the fact that it is channeled does not mean that it cannot be cone-shaped, to cover more people (but with less reach), those that are narrower will obviously heal more than cone-shaped ones and will have more distance. , that way you would have 2 types of healers, one light range and one heavy or close medium.
Anyway, there can be many suggestions to modify this.
But the important thing is that the healer stops being BROKEN and becomes more FUN, nothing prevents you from having another healing or control weapon on your secondary if you don’t want to DPS.
The BASIS is that the healer HEALS, or CONTROLS, or SURVIVES, or DOES DAMAGE, but NEVER MORE THAN ONE THING AT A TIME.

I guess you never played Rift’s Chloromancer or Warhammer Onine’s Warrior Priest.

Healing based on damage done is actually the most fun way to heal and when balanced well, not OP in the least.

You did not understand me.
I meant that by increasing the damage dealt by the amber gem, it would open up a range of possibilities, so the healer would not be pigeonholed to use: rapier, icy gauntlet, and void gauntlet. Since it would also give him a chance to switch weapons (to any other) and do decent damage or apply control, in turn and most IMPORTANTLY, since the health staff’s healing is channeled, it wouldn’t be DPS and heal at the same time, that’s what I wanted. say.

I liked playing healer a lot when the game first came out, but I understand that not everyone likes the healer, to any degree. I’ve been fried by people who don’t like that I just enjoyed Healers being tanky and hard to kill (Despite not really being able to kill anything themselves.) For certain modes that was kinda BS. Lot of people back then didn’t have any good counters against healing like we do now. Through all the nerfs healing has got in time, I just really wanna be able to go back to using my heavy armor without getting the fattest debuff to the very role that I’m trying to play.

I enjoy the idea of healing being something more that you channel rather than instant heals though, and the idea that using a Amber gem on it would give it a decent flat boost for damage, giving me at least just 1 option over the Diamond (Which is currently the only useful gem for Life staff.) Honestly I would love for heals to be powerful and the buffs to be more of the instant cast things. Direct heals should have better healing that just takes longer but you can cancel it midway through if you need to instead of standing there for like 3 seconds channeling and then it happens all at once. I’d like to be able to target a player and have like a green stream of nature magic attaching to them from the staff to indicate who is healing them while still being potent because I have to sit there, focus on them and I can’t dodge or run without breaking the spell.

Would also be nice to have that massive Mass heal be more effective but it makes you a giant target. Perhaps instead of instant, you create an orb over your head that glows and all people that are allies in rage start regenerating in its light. PVE it could activate aggro and draw enemies. PVP people can shoot and hit the orb to get a stun but not damage the healer (Since it would kill the spell and reset their cool down.)

I dunno, sorry for rambling, I just really loved playing healer at the very start but all the nerfs to it made it feel whack and not as fun. (I didn’t pvp with it, I just enjoyed it for General use and dungeons. Now most people run health steal and potions and I feel kinda unneeded at times. Plus just seeing that the staff got nerfed over and over made me not really wanna use it even if it still feels fine to most.)
