I was on Olympus originally and it got merged into Orun then into Valhalla. I would have to wait an hour just to log in to play because of the queue times. I got so tired of it I used a transfer token to go to Eden then the queue times were still bad so they opened Olympus back up as a new server so I transferred there quickly using another token. A month after launch and here I am 580 in the queue waiting another hour to log in. There is also a few hundred bots now. So its hard to gather items. There is barley anyone in the dungeon finders.
Agreed. I transferred to Olympus specifically to avoid the queues, and now it has the worst queues. I get like an hour a day to play any more and I spend over half of it in the queue every night. They need to get rid of the servers and just go mega-server like every other modern MMO.
The gathering would greatly suffer if they did that it’s hard enough to gather due to bots. I have to sometimes wake up at 3am so i can actually get stuff. Cross server is by far the best option so the pop on each server is low enough to do stuff, but you can still group up. otherwise, they would have to instance gathering areas so you don’t have to fight the bots or 500 others needing the same limited resources
In terms of bots, I think everybody would like to see this addressed. But I don’t think it’s ever going to really change. The level of botting is comparable to other titles.
In terms of OPR and dungeon finder queues, yes, there definitely is room for improvement. Cross-server, a random dungeon queue, etc. are all desperately needed. From a UX point of view, the current way of getting into a lobby, is also a massive nightmare. And the overwhelming number of dungeon options with all available mutations definitely doesn’t help either. The playerbase is spread very, very thin without cross-server.
The specific lobby demands also don’t help. Can see groups sometimes for close to an hour nearly unchanged, whilst within those groups the numbers are there to get at least 1, sometimes 2, parties going.
Just don’t try and re-invent the wheel on this one. Look at what e.g., WoW and FFXIV are using, do that.
