To New World developers: Thank you for the clear communication

It’s this cool new thing called test servers. I am guessing you haven’t heard of them, but basically you get to test out the content patch, for the developers for free for them, and help fix their mistakes. Before they go live, I feel like I need to explain this as I would to a child.

small bugs are fine and don’t hugely impact your gameplay, duping however…

Agreed. People are happy to hand over their money for broken products and defend companies that would rather fire employees than promote them.

Go make your own game and ill buy it for 40$ then when i find a bug ill espect it to be fixed how i think they should be fixed ASAP otherwise ill make your forums, Youtube etc. on fire. When you have done that, i can accept your complains. Until that point, stick with the bug reports that is ingame or on forum. and simply create a report that describes the bug and wait for it to get fixed

The dev team takes full responsibility for this amount of incompetence in display, I am not bashing them, I am pointing out the simple fact that if you claim you fixed something that turns out not to be fixed, don’t expect me to clap my hands with respect for you mate.
Take your time to fix the bug, just don’t lie OR assume you fixed things which turns out not, that will only mean you don’t know what you’re doing which puts you in a bad spot

What a terribly low bar to set as an Industry standard isn’t it? “Not many previous MMO’s have had successful launches” and so we should naturally expect a buggy unfinished product because that’s what all the other guys delivered? Even with a company backed by Amazon’s funding? Even with incredibly talented programmers and game devs behind the scenes? Even with an incredibly constructive Alpha and Beta test that pointed out so many of these game-breaking issues, MONTHS before launch day?

I respect the positivity, and don’t mean to bash on the hard work of the game devs, but at this stage it’s clear to see that whatever AGS is doing, or has done, behind the scenes just isn’t working. They try to fix one thing, often with a band-aid temporary solution, only for something else seemingly unrelated to breakdown as a result. This is spaghetti code, plain and simple. There are bugs and oversights, and then there’s a fundamentally flawed framework. New World is feeling a lot like the latter right now, which means solutions to these massive game-defining problems are MONTHS out.

WoW, and games like it, suffered through launches just as bad as this one and still pulled through, but that was in a time before the market was oversaturated with other objectively better products. I don’t know if New World has the space to bounce back from this downwards spiral. Even if they fixed all the major bugs and exploits by next week, they would still have a young MMO in it’s infancy, with very little in the way of end-game grinds and money sinks to keep a core player base active until the next major content drop.

It’s in a bad way right now, but I still feel I got my money’s worth out of my playtime, and will stick with the game until I get bored of playing it. I’m not mad about the failings of New World, just sort of disappointed that the bar is so low for new MMO’s that this feels like a standard launch. I’ve never been a fan of the MMO genre, but after New World I’m thinking I might not revisit it for a very long time.

I just say try develope some big software / game, then you would understand what i have ben trying to tell you.

Good luck to you. Maybe I will someday see you in the AGS dev team. Don’t worry if that day ever came I wouldn’t be one of the people complaining that you lied about fixing bugs

is that how you go on with your life? blanket everything you do wrong with excuses and lies and hope it works out well? good luck mate

Amazon owns 1/3rd of the worlds servers and couldn’t keep up w/ demand on launch day. Let that sink in.

Great post, OP. I support all encouragement for the Devs. Asking them to bend over backwards for our first-world problems related to our addiction. Thankless job it must be to listen to the garbage on here. Criticism is a good thing, but most folks have to try and insult them in the process. Makes no sense.

Wow just didnt have Streamers, huge negative Forum people that was only on forums to make noice and do bad worse. Tbh. i enjoy allot of games and a bug will be fixed, but people in this world will prolly never be fixed. Everyone think they are better and know better than everything.

And wow have had WAY WAY worse bugs for years of years and they still have the same bug today 15 years after. exactly (GOLD SELLERS/BOOSTING sites etc. etc.)!

They are paid to do a job, they have shown time and time again they aren’t qualified for that job. Would you praise a waiter that kept dropping your food over and over and over again?

I couldn’t have said it any better, you said it all… those whiteknights will do more harm than good, not accepting criticism only leads to more problems in the future which is bad and wrong

I don’t really have an opinion just a simple assessment of the facts here. This game is in a beta state, and is rather compromised and badly broken. The ball was obviously dropped and that has happened “past tenths” If this game is to survive, fix the issues and remove leadership who has lead this ship in the wrong direction, award good solutions and communication “support your dev’s”. Lastly get the project on the road and then a roadmap back to brining players in and keeping players on whilst making the product more profitable. With MMORPG’s your going to have to understand people wont take major or minor issues. Not in 2021 its not worth there money or time let alone to sub monthly, purchase, or in game purchase anything. Get it together fast guys or grab a shovel and call it a day.

Show me where the item duplication in WoW is. I would love to see it.

Can you name some of those WAY WAY worse bugs?

Gold sellers is also not a bug… You are literally giving money to a third party platform in return for an ingame currency outside of that platform… how do you propose a gaming company know that a trade or transaction between two players had a Real Money Trade order on a completely different platform they have no visibility over?

Wow allowed Gold seller / Boosters coz they couldnt get rid of em. and later they put tokens into the game so they earned money on the gold selling instead of other people.

Also they had main quests at launch not working for 5-6 weeks after. They had quest mobs bugging out for a whole reset (and they still have). theese are just few

Since it is the same website, they can force em closed by LAW. very easy since the website only offer services towards thier game witch is against the TOS.

Yeah but they did fix the bug. I’ve played every beta. There was no dupe in open beta. That means sometime during launch and now a change request recreated the issue. It’s pretty common in development that this could happen. You seem really upset over this and I’m unsure why your letting this affect you so much.

No, but I understand that being a game developer is not worth it. You do extra work and still get shit thrown at you from ppl who know nothing about what you do and how difficult it is. If I am unhappy with the game I just stop playing. Coming from ESO, a much older game with just as many bugs and balance issues, I find NW’s communication to be excellent. Bugs will eventually get fixed, and new bugs or old bugs wiill always resurface, but as long as NW devs keep up the good communication, then I will continue to support them. You feel me?
