I was enjoying the PVE content… For the most part.
Got sick of chopping trees…
Upgrading gear became priority to continue soloing content…
600 hours of play time and Iv stepped into 4 dungeons. And not one arena…
I refuse to pay for for a spot in a party…
I feel there is enough PvE content out there. I think the leveling system needs work for most of the PvE content to be relative. As well as drops in the lower level dungeons.
The higher end PvE contents was farming and raising my standing with towns. And Elite runs. Im rather OCD, so I would go into the game with a plan and achievements set for myself to keep me going.
Im just waiting for name changes to be a thing. And world transfers to be open again. For me to play again. I made the mistake of changing factions so I could enjoy the discounts that our losing faction didnt have. So I could continue crafting and farming without breaking the bank. That was a mistake thanks to toxic behavior all across the server that flag you as scum because your color changed.
I like both PvP and PvE but since the PvP in New World is pretty shit, I do mostly PvE in New World and this is my view on the matter. I never liked doing crafting so that content is not for me and solo content I dont care for either, as single player RPGs does a much better job at that. So that leaves us with two main areas where you can enjoy group PvE content.
Instanced Content, mainly expeditions, is fun. Much more fun than any other instanced PvE content I have seen in MMOs. The expeditions are well designed, challenging and fun enough to repeat many, many times. However, there are two issues with it. One is the orb, which I hate and not going to elaborate on here as it requires a dedicated thread, and the other is that there aren’t enough of them.
Open World content, namely elite areas and portals, is mind-numbingly boring for one simple reason. Zergs. This content could be fun and challenging but because of Zergs face-rolling it all with minimal effort and no challenge, I try to avoid it. It is simply no fun.
So, at level 60, there are only two expeditions that bring any sort of challenge and, although they are fun and well designed, it is simply not enough. We need more expeditions and lower barrier of entry by reducing the cost of orbs. Arenas could be fun but because of the high cost of orbs, they are simply not worth doing.
Open world content is simply broken due to Zergs and unless they find a solution for this, I don’t see any reason to do any open world PvE content. They need to find a way to limit the number of people that can access portals and elite areas. Maybe by making them instanced or by spawning more mobs to match the extreme number of people in the Zergs.
At this point though, I am not sure the PvE content is enough to keep me playing the game for much longer.
For me it all comes down to how the developer balances the game.
If they can balance the game (combat) independently between PvE and PvP, then it’s focused on both.
However if the developers are changing equipment, skills and perks based on PvP feedback that also affects PvE, then the games focus is on PvP. Changing mob health and damage is not how you balance PvE in a PvE orientated game.
It’s a game that was built for hardcore PVP, last minute changed to PVE, that satisfies neither.
As a hardcore PVP’r. They don’t really make games for us… I hope someday a great game just makes a PVP server… PVErs can have the rest. It worked in Asheron’s Call Darktide just fine. Then both win.
Agreed. Why even add PvE, when the combat balance is focused around PvP.
Every single combat change that affects the way your character interacts with the environment/other players is related to PvP, even the removal of stagger.
The only combat balance change related to PvE was when they overtuned the health and damage of some elites, which was a bug.
Carebears are here, get used to it. Crying like B over a game that will NEVER be what you want is stupid. Go play MO/MO2 and go. No one gives an AF.
Oh YES YOU ARE! Your still butthurt that NW isnt the full-loot toxic PVP paradise you wanted it to be and you are not gonna let anyone forget it. Better idea! Go make your OWN thread to discuss the type of game play YOU want and have fun with the 5 posts it will generate. Your HERE because you are angry at PVEers “changing” your game stupidly failing to realize that the type of gameplay you want is simply NOT popular enough. TOO BAD! Those are the breaks! Tough Luck. Shall I go on? Players dont change a games direction. The prospect of MONEY does. Also research and trends do.
Get over it BBoy, stop your whining in a PVE thread and go get a life. YStop being a total loser and go play MO where you can wear your gear on “special occasions”! LMAO!
PS: Also I might add the reason I even started this thread for PVERs to access IF we should be here in NW. See the title? have reading comp skills? Your telling us to go like many PVPers have. Didnt I say that in the original post? Your not too bright are you?
No he clearly isnt… also i just muted him… these forums really do need some mods…
Also being here since day 1 of dev/alpha build. Right now imo we could wait? and see what happens. I think if we can guide the devs to a “Fair” point for all and give them the feedback they need (and their half of actually going though with whats been giving to them) we could end up with a game that both like… Though imo reality i see this game going more towards PVE…
As a pvp player that enjoyed the pve content while leveling, the game needs unlocked expeditions without keys and they need a large scale raid before their first paid DLC content.
If they force you to pay for a DLC to unlock the game’s first raid, I wouldn’t play here as a pve player anymore. Other games have multiple raid options attached to it’s base game and don’t have half the grind this game has with much more meat on their bones. You get to max, gather your pre-bis and then start raiding/pvping in those games. But here? Get to 60, now you run chests/gyp till 580, then you run dungeons to get your full bis (waste keys if you run before 580-600 and waste even more if your jewels were at 500gs at start of the expertise revamp).
I’m going to have to mute him too, apparently, this guy is a troll and several others have put him on mute. He’s here in a thread for PVEers trying to convince them that Full loot pvp is what the game “should” be and to lambast PVEers in a thread discussing PVE!. Make it make sense? That child is nuts.
I agree with waiting to see what happens. At this point I have invested alot into my character and want to give the Devs a shot at how things land. I also enjoy casual pvp (OPRs) a bit and I know there are some needed improvements there.
yea it was fine before when gear didnt need to be such high watermark to make you super effective. You could get your 580 weapon quests done and feel good, so you could work on chests/pvp with crafted gear till you get watermark up. They needed to gatekeep the expeditions so crafters could work on something and players could make good decisions on if they should run an expeditions.
But now? with expertise gain nerfed across the board and attached to expeditions, you need them unlocked with how grindy the chests are.
Yeah he’s just a child and cant grow up… funny enough he was pushing (like you said for FULL HC PVP" but then he used the past tense of “was” its like well yah NO shiet WAS and theres good reason WHY the devs changed it to PVX more so PVE imo…smh some people just dont learn
To back up what a lot have already said. i found lower levels in a pve experience was enjoyable. not till high levels did it get unrewarding. higher level crafting mechanics, along with lvl 60 gearscore grind just turned me off from the game.
on top of that the dungeons were not that fun. that said i never did last 2 dungeons, but heard they weren’t much better. healing mechanics, and in general mechanics is good for pvp, its chaotic and dumb.
