Total damage with GEM not correct

Hello,

I encounter a bug with gem damages:

  • Describe the issue you are experiencing:
    When fighting against ANCIENT (skeletons) I always use my hammer with is their weakness with +20% damage bonus.
    To increase my damage I replace the hammer gem with TOPAZE gem with is again another weakness for ancien with a +30% bonus.
    Problem is the result: I do less damage with the TOPAZE gem. Lets take a look at my screenshot : the damages with the gem are lower or equal to the hammer strike damage.
    That should NOT be the case since this is a 30% bonus with the TOPAZ gem !

Note that when I do this with for example CORRUPTED with slash weapon (20%) and arcan gem (30% bonus) it does work and the gem is making more damage …

So I do not understand the problem with the damage on ancien with topaz gem.

Same problem against angry earth using:
great axe slash (+20%)
rubis gem ignited (+30%)

But what I found is the following:
it works for light hits (more damage on gem) BUT NOT on HEAVY hits !

Those numbers are very close, doesn’t look too far off. Keep in mind, with your strength attribute perks you gain +10% damage to heavy attacks and +5% to light attacks - if you also have jewelry with +strike damage then you should be doing more melee damage than elemental.

Dont worry, took 3 Months + to fix that for Fireball / Ice Spikes /Sticky Bomb, we had legit
34% less dmg on the Elemental Procc .
meanwhile ice spikes side proccs ( extra skill ) still not working properly

Yeah but it doesn t explain why its working (more elemental) on corrupted and not on ancient …

After some more testing … what I confirm is the following:

It seems WORKING for light attacks (always more elemental damage) but NEVER for heavy attacks …

there a whole bunch of difficult math behind this.

first, like already said, you have certain buffs that only boost your physical dmg, like the strenght attribute perks.

but since you have heavy attacks that boost your physical dmg by about 10% you’ll lose dmg when using topaz gem in an hammer.

in general you shouldn’t use elemental gems in physical weapon when you’re already on an effective dmg type, bc you lose the phys dmg buffs for your elemental dmg and you also lose even more dmg because you could’ve slotted another game like an emerald or malachite to further increase your dmg.

I’d be OK with you if it was the same behavior between monster and gems. But as I said it is perfectly working for both light and heavy attacks on CORRUPTED with slash/arcan gems …

you have 30% more dmg on arcane than on slash
you have 8% more dmg on lightning than on strike and these 8% get completely negated by the 5/10% light/heavy phys dmg bonus from strenght attribute perks.

So If I understand your explanation, you mean that the STR 10% bonus only applied on the non elemental damage (so strike/slash) …
If I read the bonus … it doest say that, its +10% for the damage, it does not say non elemental

it’s only physical dmg
