This is just another classic example of AGS’s ham-fisted approach to changes in New World.
People struggling against hatchet-spam? Remove stagger.
Sprint mechanic too hard for people? Everyone defaults to sprinting all the time without stamina.
Markets congregating in the center towns? Remove local markets.
Every. Single. Time. AGS is presented with a minor obstacle they default to simply removing another unique aspect of the game as they slowly homogenize the experience into just another basic MMO. Most of these problems had easy, elegant, and obvious solutions that weren’t even attempted.
Best change in the world. I actually never brought this up as an idea because I never thought it would even be considered, but this will be a game changer and will enable territories to stay competitive.
Sure, market players who used this will lose some earnings, but it’s a great solution for equalizing the territories and a HUGE QoL boost for all the players.
Thanks for this change. Looking forward to seeing it.
True that but territories which aren’t visited often are opportunities for smaller factions and companies to build up to not be a small company or faction anymore.
this way it steers more in a one dominating faction just sitting in one central town. Step 1 done, other markets stopped existing.
I’m glad someone else is also angry about this. I was hoping for a more elegant solution than magically linking all the trade posts. Now there’s no difference in value for settlements other than pve location. Windsward and everfall were natural trade hubs. To anyone who has played Eve online they know about Jita trade hub. What hurt this game market mechanic wise is the sloppy trade post UI.
Salvage locking items doesn’t remove them from sell list.
There’s no way to search items you want to sell, only buy.
you constantly have to go uncheck the box for your local settlement filter in a drop list instead of hitting a checkbox on a higher level of the windows layers.
there’s no separation for items that exist in your inventory vs your vault when selling.
searching by perks in alphabetical order? Wtf?
You streamline people’s ability to find where items are and to offload items of opportunity and you solve half your problem. In this game players are both the warehouse and the customer in the supply chain but they are being clogged up on both sides by the UI.
Market game my butt. Who in their right mind would buy Ammo for 2 gold a piece in Brightwood when they can teleport home to WW to buy cheapest ammo there? Are you even listening to what you’re saying? Everyone buys a house in WW or EF right now solely for the trading post. These two towns are WAY too rich. They need to split up the economy or rest of other towns will forever be ghost towns. If they link the trading post, I will for sure not visit EF and WW anymore unless is only for crafting purposes. This will bring other town to have more people to make their home.
Localized markets was one of the cool unique things I loved about this game. It made players make decisions as buyers AND sellers.
When buying, pay a little more where u are for the convenience, or spend the time and make a trip to play less somewhere else?
For sellers, list it somewhere it is less available for a higher price, and hope the demand is enough to sell, or list it where the demand is, but face a lot of market competition?
I really appreciated this design idea. Now the market on my perticular goods is destroyed, because the location I sell is no longer a factor. The only factor now, is how low players are willing to sell a perticular good.
There’s no other way for me to put it, I hate this change unfortunately.
you know how often people buy ammo for x3-x4 the price in Shattered Mountain? I’ve sold probably 25-30k arrows there. Food? Sold. Proficiency boosters? Sold.
Maybe make the tax owed on a settlement take into account the income of the settlement to kinda put them on a more equal footing? As is, pmuch everyone only wants Windsward, Brightwood, and Everfall.
But thats more on location i think, those are the central towns. No matter where you coming from you probably will go though one of them. I doubt linking markets will change that.
I understand it takes the option to play the markets out of the game in that regard, on the bright side it will allow the non “trade hubs” to get some taxes too. Currently on ours there are three semi hubs one of them being the main one. Outside of that its just not even worth trying to attract people. This will allow people to post and buy materials in any town and share the tax around. I think it will be good.
Try to create markets in ur companies town by listing more goods there for even cheaper than the popular trade hubs. Help progress your servers market distribution. This is a player created economy. Don’t just follow the trends that are already set, create a new market.
