Trading post needs “average pricing”

The trading post needs to have an average set price that New World sets itself. The trading post is a nightmare and people just walk up and click sell without caring. So maybe if there’s an average of each item we are freely deciding the prices of items as a community. It’s not 20k for a life moth. And it’s not 5k per steel bar. This needs a fix. If someone’s gonna sell steel bars for 0.01 gold then so be it, but I don’t see why people think they’re going to get that. They waste over 600 gold listing the item. New world staff needs to step up and have someone dedicated to controlling the market. Not to adjust other people’s items but maybe add a “sells for on average” or a “goes for around” type of pricing. And not just a blue item 500 coins. Like if it’s forsaken helm of the assassin maybe they go for 257.00 on average. Or a blue one goes for 430.00 gold…

The TP is out of control.

What’s your thoughts?

Communism doesn’t work, never has and never will.

I agree with this 100%.
I tried to make some extra money with blue socketed item with really good stats, just to realise people selling it for 5g. It definitely worth more than that (especially with the 4g listing fee) and I’m afraid market will either go crazy low or crazy high.

My thoughts? That in a player run economy there is no place for government (AGS) price controls. Nobody’s paying…

…but who cares, really, if someone lists them for that? They are readily obtainable through individuals simply spending the time to go get/make them so there is no genuine scarcity of items like that.

The TP is not out of control, but this hyperbole might be.

This is a good QOL feature. However, it should not be a priority as there are more important things that needs fixing and implementation.

My thought is that, if players are willing to buy water from the trading post for 0.5 gold each, there is no need for government/ devs to adjust (average) prizes.

Have a great day in Aeternum (and keep buying my water)!

All you’re running into right now is crafters racing to skill up and dumping their crafting onto the market just to get rid of it (seems a little nonsensical instead of salvaging, but what the hell). The market will stabilize.

Thanks for all your reply’s. I do understand a lot of your points. Is there maybe a better way? It’s nice to get some gear for a steal. But I’m a RuneScape player. We don’t see the items on the market. We don’t know how much they go for… I sold a Set of armour worth 200 coins once and instantly got 6 million gp. I like the way the market is set up there, they have an average price but it doesn’t HAVE to be there, so this way the player gets the freedom to sell high or low or free and then the buyer knows what they’re buying isn’t completely overpriced. I do understand that there definitely are more features they need to implement first before touching trading post, it’s fine right now but people are just wasting their time selling for so high and also selling for 0.01 coin costs them money… I guess instead of an average price how about a suggested one?

Thanks!

If you truly believe that, buy them up and resell. But I’m guessing you’d know that won’t work. The supply is too high, hence the low prices. Not to mention most of the cheap stuff actually has crap stats.

If you look carefully, you can sometimes find something with great stats and perks listed cheap, buy and resell for profit. But that does take knowledge of what people want for the type of item.
