It wont kill the cash shop skins if they just add good, high quality skins. Especially in regards to weapons. They could also add things to these armors that in game armors don’t have like effects and maybe even moving pieces on the weapons etc. Many many games have transmog AND skins and they do it just fine. It’s just not a valid excuse, see basically any other mmo.
I am tellin you, transmog being p2w along side a battle pass drop is gonna piss a lot of people off.
I have come to expect that with the NW forums.
Just like gear sets could have been a straight win, muddled by MTX transmog will be the same.
Transmog will bring back people for one day.
Good to know everyone here works for charity and chill vibes. I don’t necessarily disagree that transmog would be best if it wasn’t monetized, i think the gearset thing is completely fine in my mind. Please don’t spend additional money that you may not have budget for so you can feel cool in the game. It’s pretty clear that some of you are stressing big time and need to reevaluate.

Dude. New World trying to set a standard that it is okay to charge for transmoggng to in game items is unacceptable in MANY peoples eyes. Ofc we dont know if they will charge yet.
But lets pro-actively complain about it before we know!! YEAH!!
There was some serious rumors going around it could happen and I am stating that it will be a disaster if it does.
Edit: I guess you are right im complaining ahead of time, but I am also certain that if they make this move it will be a huge gut punch to many people.
There was serious rumors that NW would not make it 6 months, then 1 year, then 1 year and six months and now they are just vague “It will die. Soon. Maybe… possibly within our lifetime.” declarations.
Maybe some people will take it that way. And I certainly think you care enough about the game to want the best outcome for it and that is what you are attempting to head off.
We’ll see. Hopefully it wont be bad at all.

Well I initially made the post because of how many people I had seen worried that p2w transmog would come. So I simply voiced it for everyone here.
I think the p2w fears of the forum in general are greatly over-blown. Most of it is just FOMO and knowing that they will crack open their wallet when the rubber meets the road.
Well I actually financially cant. I cant make willy nilly mtx transactions as I don’t have as much money as most people. It took me until this week to buy a skin in NW despite playing it the entire time. So for some of us, it’s basically locking us out of the feature entirely. Which is why we get so concerned.
Sorry to hear that. I certainly have been in the same situation in life and understand completely.

Times be tuff. My 3060 ti is suuuper bottlenecked by my i7 6700k too cuz I just cannot afford to upgrade due to life things. 40 fps in opr. <_<
This is why a good education and good grades is important.
If gear sets are any indication, they will both monetise it and not really give people what they were asking for at the same time.
Since currently we cannot dye or change up any of the skins, I think a “win win” for everyone would be a ONE TIME purchasing amount using real world currency and buy Transmog.
But not (like so many other games) a repeating charge for every single piece.
Because lets face it guys, this is AGS we are dealing with, NOTHING is “free” after you purchase one of their games.
And in all reality, almost every single GOOD game out there either is or will be monetized at some point.
They have to reel in the gaming community first, THEN add in additional costs in order for gamers to enjoy the game further.
Facts are facts.
And I would pay a ONE TIME ACCEPTABLE fee to do this.
But if they get greedy about it, I just simply wont.
OR
They could add it to the faction vendor and make it useful again for lvl 60 players (other than the 2 daily orbs, the faction vendor really is useless)
I really wish we would just see it be free. It makes me uncomfortable they wont talk about it or share how it looks at all. I really hope it isn’t pay every slot dude… It better not be pay every ITEM, my good god, so low levels still wouldn’t be able to ever transmog. Messed up.
