I want a crime update. It would be cool to be able to steal from companies somehow.
Trickle-down economics: Why does new world use an economic system that has failed in the real world?
You seem to misunderstand me, I did not mean that games don’t have economies.
I meant that game and real-life economies are vastly different.
It makes perfect sense, due to supply vs demand as the basis of both economies. The game has artificial supply manipulated by a group of individuals who can create it out of literal thin air. That’s a huge difference to real life, where resources are scarcer (even if controlled by a group), and usually require energy or manpower to extract.
The truth is not so different from what happens here. Here there are also people who are dedicated to extracting resources and others to create items. But the problem is the exaggerated inflation that exists because between income from wars and AGS trying to “level” the field, they put more money into the game in all aspects and reduced costs.
When the game just came out, collecting 10k was a lot of money, now with a new character you get that before being lvl 20.
AGS has been overinflating numbers since alpha.
Legendaries didn’t even need to exist as an item rarity this early in the game’s life. Or at least make them feel legendary. There are way more stat points available now than earlier versions of the game as well. Why?
It’s just silly and they’re only serving to screw up later systems or forcing an early revamp of the entire system.
They keep blowing their load on scaling things up quickly for no reason.
I am arguing with you because you are the one parroting the bullshit that so-called experts claim to justify their mishandling of the economy. When people talk of trickle-down economics not working, what they really mean is capitalism isn’t fair and doesn’t work. That’s bullshit, you only need to look at the capitalist world to see that. Like I said people within capitalist countries, even the poor people live like royalty compared to people not in capitalist countries.
It’s not so much a case of what makes more. What much rather is the problem is that in case if M10’s, you’re working for the gold yourself. In case of territory ownership, you’re being a parasite living of the work of 99% of the rest of the community. People have enough of this crap in real life, get it the f out of this game. It’s by far the worst design choice AGS made for this game.
Its not meant to trickle down. Its supposed to motivate people to participate in wars so they can get their part of it. Thetes no incentive if it does trickle down.
This is midevil who has the biggest stick takes what they want except here you can work harder to enlarge your stick.

If AGS doesn’t get rid of this big problem new world will never make a comeback.
Such a flawed system was the downfall of the game from the very beginning and they never realized…
no man.
When people say trickle-down economics doesn’t work they are saying
trickle-down economics doesn’t work
haha
so-called experts. I see.
where did the capitalism touch you?
It all seems a bit out of touch with this thread and, dare I say, maybe a personal issue that you could resolve in a separate thread. Or maybe reddit. It really seems like that reddit will be your happy place.
So basically you bring up topics you know fark all about!
Not just T5 stations, they have to pay their salaries, coaches, proxies, territory pushers, consumables, etc etc etc. Esports controls the economy. Great job AGS.
Terrible. Dungeons are fun we don’t need gear incentive, don’t use that as an argument. What is your solution?
No expert in economics has ever used the words “Trickle Down”, that is a largely political statement used in political campaigning.
Made nearly 3mil gold last week doing 19/25 m10 runs and selling legos that dropped for me in those runs; they drop frequently, now, that anyone who is selling shards is making a little extra on top of the bank they’re making.
Replica items of named drops in dungeons drop frequently and PvP players obvioisly don’t want to farm for the named items, so they buy the legos. Prices are still inflated on near BIS and BiS items, but they drop more commonly than ever.
Like, what am I supposed to do with a net gain of 3mil a week? I’m making more selling legos from m10s than the companies owning WW and EF. Territory ownership makes a lot of gold, but so do the PvE players which are likely the people with the majority of the gold wealth.
I’m sitting on close to 10,000 asmodeum, because the player gold cap is so low. Raise company cap to 10mil, raise personal cap to 1m, that’s just my suggestion. I’m nowhere near the wealthiest player and I’m making so much bank I don’t know what to do with myself.
Well I dont know much about economics but I treat gold in the game the same way as… azoth or any resource … I spend 100k a day cuz I know I can make it up the next day, there’s no reason for me to sit on 500k.
So I think it’s important to remember the game on launch was very different from how it is now. On launch the amount of gold you earned for a territory vs how much you had to spend to maintain that territory was well balanced for most territories. In fact in some territories (my guild owned Reekwater for a while) we didn’t earn enough gold and had to put our own money into the town.
However a lot of systems have changed since then so people are now earning far more money than they were previously for territory ownership, and they have to spend far less money to run those territories. So the original idea worked well - gold was only intended to help run the towns - but now it’s out of balance and needs some adjusting.
Yeah totally true lets compare it to real life. So for example if i want i can just go out and kill someone in RL there aint no PVP flag off or some bs like that. Well i prob need to go to jail after that but the option is still there… so just force flag everyone in the game AGS i want to kill those wood farmers at the backside of WW.
