Yea, they just have to introduce a system that allows people to build however they want. They also need to give up the idea of making a ârealistic MMORPGâ because that just doesnât work. People play MMORPGs not to seek realism, but to play as a character. That involves being able to do whatever they want with said character. Limiting them to specific setups to achieve ârealismâ is counterintuitive.
Yeah id agree, we play to have fun. Not realism to find a combo you enjoy only to find out later it doesnât work in higher kill pvp even if its weapons that are meant to be paired by attributes. I think youâve just convinced me to play eso for pvp until they fix this mess in thier pvp system. Then again the pve also isnât as accessible here due to orbs. Nw is a game I see great potential in. Lets hope they turn it around in time.
Well I wouldnât hop in ESO that quick because ESO devs also made a bunch of balance mistakes recently lol. ESO has great potential but it suffers the same issue of having incompetent PvP devs.
you obviously didnt play ESO during the speed jewelry meta
30% movement spd buff from a class skill + 3x runspeed jewelry + sprint = you literally flew over the map and you could leg it at literally any time when things went south. ofc they nerfed it eventually cos nothing that is good for 1vX can be allowed to exist for long by ZOS or the noobs will cry cos they got 1v20´d again.
I dont think I did. When I did play i found it mostly balanced. Metas always exist i know. Its just eso was way more balanced than this game. My fear is how unforgiving mmo players are. If things donât change for the better soon most will never come back.
ye ESO was the much better game at any era tbh. fuck even at launch when you could go vamp and perma batsworm in a 200 ppl zerg cos you could drop the ulti cost to 4 on a sorc
Iâd say there are 3 things NW devs can do right now to fix PvP balance real quick:
-
Add an option to break free from CC and Roots. Only give a short immunity to roots as CCs in this game work differently than CCs in ESO. Breaking free will cost stamina for balance reasons.
-
Standardize the attribute perks instead of gating them behind attribute thresholds. In ESO a similar system is called Champion Points, which allow players to choose perks that help them obtain their ideal build. This change will instantly open up a bunch of build paths. Obviously changes to weapons also need to be made or some builds will literally become the next OP thing like Rapier with Grit lol. But the idea is allow players to build however they want without being severely gimped.
-
Remove anything that affects the core mechanics of the game like Frostbite. Seriously, who the fuck thought it was a good idea to give IG a debuff that prevents people from I-FRAMING AND SPRINTING? Literally the most broken debuff in the game from a balance perspective as it interferes with 2 fundamental aspects of combat.
Thereâs been balance issues but itâs improved tbh. Their most recent patch introduced a bunch of standardization and hybridization changes so people can literally build however they want. Itâs great.
ye ESO was never rly balanced either. stam NB has been somewhat broken since launch and never rly got a sufficient nerf but ESO balance issues stem mostly from armor set bonuses and specific combinations of them rather than from core elements of the classes. it was balanced enough so that 90% of the playerbase wouldnt notice the flaws tho. it only really surfaced when 2 highly experienced players with min maxed builds 1v1´d each other. with few exceptions that were super obvious to everyone sprinkled in here and there. bleed stacking builds in nocp campaign come to mind f.e. stam sorc was kinda broken aswell until they nerfed it and ofc the classic magicka sorc with 80k shields
there was just alot of things you could do if you min maxed properly but for the average player it was never rly an issue.
here comes the ranged trying to shut down any attempt at making melee more bearable to play.
In what universe does melee being inescapable count as a solved system?
A world where good positioning is key? Iâve literally stated 2 scenarios where the melee player cannot catch you in ESO:
Scenario 1 is the definition of good positioning. Scenario 2 is equivalent to a FS player using dash to escape.
In NW, movement speed is so discriminately given that unless you run a specific weapon, you will never be able to catch up to someone. That alone makes ranged superior. Why would anybody play melee at that point if you can hold down W and kite indefinitely even after making a bad positioning mistake?
This. there are so many people that say âif he is running away he is not doing damageâ but they donât think about what they are gonna due 10 sec after they get away.
You hit the nail on the head early in the first post.
At the moment Melee is only useful in Wars, and barely any other pvp content in the game, because all those ranged guys and exploiting mages are expected to do something other than just damage you and flee in wars. In open world and OPR they just root/stun you and vanish the moment they are taking damage and you get to chase after them or go find something else to do.
The moment they are forced to stick around to cap a point, melee shines again.
Tanks shrug off the damage and force them to close in and group up to deal with them, so your melee dps gets some chunky hits in.
Bruisers can work the backline and actually get kills because fleeing like you would in OPR is just losing in war and ranged people have to stick with it, pressuring point or be ineffective.
Offensive war forces them to be in a place for a certain amount of time or make no progress and then the trashy fleeing advantage is gone and they tend to get mopped up easily. All those âpointsâ they rack up in OPR dont translate to anything outside of that mode. They can shoot your siege and downed players all day long in war but it wont get them wins.
The ability to gap close and chase someone down if they werenât fully fleeing made melee semi viable in open world and OPR. Now you cant even chase them down when they are just kinda fleeing and turning around to shoot at you every so often, so you dont bother.
For the most part this has made me just avoid the open world parts, or go STR GA/Spear so you can tag them with a javelin and dump them on their ass to catch up. Itâs still not very effective, since it inexplicably goes right through people all the time, but at least its funny watching them get crumpled with a spear sticking out of their back when it works.
Yâall just need to learn that you need to play light armour melee if you want to brawl
Well right now weâre at ranged being uncatchable as opposed to the idea no one mentioned of melee being inescapable. People are asking for a middle ground while youâre pushing to keep this imbalance in pvp.
This is exactly right, the balance between ranged being uncatchable with rapier FAR outweighs melees capabilities to catch
Well rapier yeah, mainly its dodge canceling paired with any mobility ability. Fs or anything paired with la means melee is useless if they wanna leave.
Well, i think that you are the one completely missing the point. You should not have any shot as a melee CC bruiser against a ranged player in a 1v1 open space. As a ranged shouldnât have any chance against a proper team of melee + healer controlling a spot. I would never dare to get close to a composition like that as a ranged, and i laugh at melees trying to beat me 1v1, it is how it is.
Also, iâve played a lot all of the builds, so i actually know what iâm talking about, not like you, who is clearly a butthurt melee player that expects to have a shot outside of its capabilities. The thing is, when i play as a melee, i donât even try to 1v1 a ranged, thatâs as simple as that.
Now everyone complains and cries about its build bc everyone wants to be OP. Just quit dude, this is not WoW or any other class locked MMO where there is supposed to be a perfect balance in all classes. Here we have a system where you create a build, and that build works for some situations, and for others it doesnt. Donât like? iâm sorry for you.
Sorry man but I think its you who are missing the point here. Youâre picking one melee combo, cc melee bruiser as an example. The problem is theres multiple other combos that canât catch them if they donât wanna be caught either. So medium armor and weapons aside youâre saying a heavy armor guy shouldnât be able to do anything about a range in la? Whereâs the balance in that?
Dodges in general need an over adjustment and just make the armor perks such as damage or tankiness be what makes them unique. Who wants thier build theyâve worked on for months, i.e heavy melee, be useless unless itâs war? Where as range is viable everywhere.
Every other top mmo doesnât treat armor as nw does in this regard. Imagine if wow or any other aaa mmo said well sorry melee if youâre fighting light armor youâre screwed lol. Your anger and insults only prove my point of you white knighting a broken build. Ive also played several builds including la range ones. Youâre not a neckbeard expert. By your comment youâre saying donât play heavy or melee if you wanna pvp. Thats nonsensical in the fact that melee exists.
