Best I can say right now is I dont hate it. What it does though is encourage me to stay range and keep distance instead of also out playing a melee player in melee range. So the next complaint is going to be… “I cant reach the range player” instead of “I cant catch the light armor player.”
The dodge in root affects a lot for me actually. I have avoided a follow up stun plenty.
I think after may posts we already established that the armor system in the game is bad by design. Giving the option to wear any armor with any weapon combination gives the people the fake idea that they don’t need to follow the same rules that other MMO’s do.
People got used to play light armor with broken weapons just because they could iframe everything. This caused heavy armor to redundant in PVP because light armor provided you with the best defense in the game. Even after nerfs, I still find myself having more survivability in light armor compared to heavy.
The thing is, as a light armor player, you shouldn’t get in the thick of it, because you wear light armor…at least, that’s the logic other games apply when balancing builds. Light armor is for ranged classes usually and Heavy armor for tanking damage and melee classes, medium is somewhere in the middle.
Having hatchet players, vg/ig, spear/rapier and s&s/bb builds that allow you do erase players in second while survive 5 players chasing you is what brought us in this situation where people believe that having a broken balance should provide you with an advantage over other builds just because you used to do it in the past
Thats actually why I usually get killed now when I do die. I have no complaints on that one. It makes sense. This is why I said LA got the short end of the stick. Other armor can at least take some hits. I can not.
The same is true of other classes that you left out my friend. Heavy and medium armor give advantage of being tanky with great axe and whatever pair with it while also providing massive aoe burst. Other games when you play like a warrior you still wear heavy armor but you lose most of the mitigation so you arent as tanky.
I think it was a fair tune, I still think Light is better than Medium, especially with the 200 CON nerf.
I think it’s in a better place though. You can’t get out of 99% of situations using stamina, you can’t in and out so fast that you can evade 8 people but you still have good mobility.
Medium is actually in a good spot now, at least compared to what it used to be. It’s worse than light but better than heavy. I don’t believe you disagree with me when I say light armor with GA. or any other weapon will kill you faster than heavy armor with the same weapon combination. The problem you have is that you can’t escape melee players as easily as before, to which I ask, why should you? If you are playing light armor and a melee player manages to reach you, shouldn’t he be rewarded for that effort the same way as a light armor range build is rewarded for doing damage from a safe distance? Then again, rapier and spear provide you with enough defensive capabilities to escape melee anyway…
Facts. Rapier especially. Pre-Patch it was possible to let go of A S W D and Roll, Riposte Fleche Evade so often that you could not even move and dodge most of a melee players attack strictly on rapier cooldowns and stamina Regen.
At face value, yeah melee is strong, but that’s what 60% of a playerbase is normally. Melee. After successive nerfs rather than an actual meta shift combat turned into low skill ceiling gear war.
Honestly I still get away just as easily as before unless I get caught in a slow. There is a difference between being rewarded for reaching me and pummeling me with two abilities to dead in 2 seconds flat when I hit him with Pen shot, poison shot, a couple autos, hit player with vault kick, another pen shot, another auto and he was tickled then kills me because I finally got caught in a grav well from a mistake and out of stamina. All the while he has full health because I was hitting him for practically nothing and he potted once. Yes, that happens.
No, I dont feel that melee should be an insta kill just because they may have caught me. There should still be some play there.
To be honest, I never have issues with my bow/spear against bruisers unless it’s a hatchet in light armor. Which proves my point you can’t have all weapon combinations use every armor type. Melee is usually design with gap closing abilities in mind. If you combine that with light armor, it’s op, but balanced with medium or heavy
