I think it is safe to say that this feature should be implemented as new perks are going to be added in future updates. It’s quite a waste spending 9k+ shards on gears to reach 625GS just to meet mutation requirements then replace it when better perks are introduced.
At least refunding half of the spent umbral shards from salvaged gears would be a nice addition.
